Caped roleplay
I'm fucking pissed right now. I went to Varshikar today because I was bored as hell. I roleplayed that Grant had a hood, and all kinds of shit so the POS and characters don't know I'm Grant. I stood there for a while peeling an apple and basiacally roleplaying shit about him lisentening.
So I finally decide to step out into the town. All of the sudden I got like fucking 50 ((Re #i )) Which is cool, i'm fine with that. But what got me pissed the most was that I was hooded and some how Maggie knew that it was Grant. How smiled up is this? I go in there with a damn hood and Maggie hasn't even seen Grant in like weeks, maybe months, maybe even years.
First thing I get Grant. Out. Now. WTF?! I'm hooded and all fucked up cause I'm a drow. How god damn stupid is this?! There is basically no way to roleplay that your identity isn't what it is because i have the best eye sight in the world and I know your shape. I'm not mad at Ku even, just
everytime I have tried to disguise Grant and come into town she pushes him out because somehow she knows everything about him. What really pisses me off is I think it was more of something in Rl that affected IG.
Also, when I bandit with Grant somehow when I roleplay that he is caped people use OOC and say that i didn't even do it. Like when I attacked Varshikar with " bob". I came back to Varshikar the next day and Maggie was like I know it was you, you told Mark or something like that. I was fucking caped, hooded, and padded with armor, you couldn't tell it was me!
I know my roleplay isn't the best, maybe even shit, but still. Can someone inforce some kind of law on bandit roleplay?

Maggie Kemoc: Get out of this town, Grant.
Ku 'Agor takes his shoulders off the two
Dusty (54750335): Grant?
Ku 'Agor: Yoo heard de oomie, Grant.
'Grant Rothman' pulls back his hood.
'Grant Rothman': hmm?
Ku 'Agor rolls his eyes, "A hood nub change whub we saw, stupid oomie."
Maggie Kemoc: Out.
Stop complaining. You didn't #me you had your hood up as you entered, you said you pulled it up after we noticed you.
Plus, it's dangerous going into a town that hates you.

Grant has a legitimate point, I understand how frustrating it can be to roleplay with someone you don't like, but sometimes you really just need to let it go and let the game go on. Give it some time, give the player of the shady character some hints and give YOUR character reasonable time to recognize the figure, the posture etc. Remember that the point of this game is not to rule a town, nor to enforce any ingame established laws, it is to roleplay, simple as that.

Grant, I will apologize. I *did not see* the line where you stated you pulled up a hood. I knew nothing about it until you pushed it down. Otherwise, I would not have played that the way I did.
As to the bandit attack, two different people told Maggie he was one of the bandits. Whether they used OOC to determine that or not, I don't know, you would have to discuss it with them.
And I do NOT let OOC arguments with people affect my IC reaction to them.

Probably not allowed, but oh well, other characters play full drows, I see little problem with allowing someone to exercise their interest in roleplaying in a roleplaying game.
Grant isn't played as a peace loving person, thus why his reactions and actions as part elf is and should be considered good roleplay, at the minimum, reasonable roleplay.
And of course Grant did not "become" a drow, he spoke with me on it a lot over msn and so he decided to go with the game. Of course if you have problems with how people play their own characters not fitting your level of roleplay feel free to report him to Damien.

Yes, other drows that are used for quests and such, however Grant cannot just one day say "Oh! Grant should be half-drow!"Garett Gwenour wrote:Probably not allowed, but oh well, other characters play full drows, I see little problem with allowing someone to exercise their interest in roleplaying in a roleplaying game.![]()

Half elf I can understand, but half-drow should not be allowed at all
even players who have attempted to play elf/drows get talked to. mainly because theres already a race of elves (with elf avatars) and a race of drows.
No offense and all Stephen old boy, but just because he talked to you about it means pretty much nothing...he suddenly changed his character entire look 'overnight'. which could only be considered 'becoming' a drow. i haven't seen anything in the illarion history about the appearance of drow like features at a certain age or anything like that. would have been better to not have changed his features overall.

True, I agree he shouldn't have changed his features, but it is not the first time such a case has happened. It is his character, we are a free roleplaying game, his character can be half drow if he wants, it does not bother my roleplay in the slightest and I am someone who needs to play with him lots.

Theres also nothing about the genetic incompatability of races with eachother either. Its the official stance that "half-races" are not allowed though I have only seen it ever been posted but once and never "enforced".Athian wrote:i haven't seen anything in the illarion history about the appearance of drow like features at a certain age or anything like that.

To be honest, I believe it's quite annoying, when someone "raises" their hood up so no one can recognize them. I mean, do it once or twice, supposing there's actually a nice roleplay going on, alright. But just "raising" your hood up so you can mug someone, or "spy" on someone or whatever, just whenever you feel like doing it, I think that's wrong. Or else, no one should get pissed if someone comes by the hooded person, asks him to raise his hood because he looks familiar.
Or someone would recognize his height/mass, and ask the person to raise his hood, and if the person denies, means there's something fishy about them, and the guards can be alerted.
That's just my two cents on this subject.

Actually, my opinion probably differs than most in this area:
Rulewise, no one has to be effected by your #me's. It's polite of them. You can consider someone a bastard for not being effected by your #me's, but it's not a rules violation.
The reason it's not a rules violation is because to make a #me that absolutely effects another person's rp is technically forced rp. In this case, it's very innocent, however. It's just a matter of it being polite rp to go along with this.
Some of the older players remember the case where Konstantin constantly complained about the guards not listening to his #me's of being cloaked or in a costume, but the guards came back by saying that Konstantin hadn't listened to their #me's trying to arrest him in the past, and even when they had him physically surrounded he #me'd "#me dissapears!" and hit the ESC button.
The GMs did nothing, or maybe they sent out some warnings, I don't know. But there's no way you can punish either party for them not following eachother's #me's. You can just look down on both parties and say that they're not very polite rpers.
The only rules violation above was the "#me dissapears" because no one has the power to amazingly dissapear. =)
