we got an old saying in the family:
one can eat everything, but one can not know everything.

Avalyon,

if you meant me, i had to say something to nitram, that he has to know. and if he knows it, he will change it.
so dont burden yourself with unnecessary things.

korm

edit:
there is a not so small group of german speaking players, with the same complaints, just the other way round.
they say the whole forum is just in english so they dont understand anything.
should we all try to learn esperanto?

and if something is interesting, sounds/looks interesting for you than please quote it and ask for an translation and you surely get one.. but if we are comunicating with devs which are speaking native german, than we prefer the easier way to speak in our language, cause german dev language is already tough enough for a rooky like me.. kay?

There are players around who don't understand english. Not even a small piece of it.

If i write something importaint for all, then i write in two languages.

But if i have to answer a german one, and it has to went fast, then i write in german. It is done faster.

If you want to read everything here, then learn german :P Learning something new, is never wrong ;)

well Avalyon, I suppose that German players speaking English will post important topics either in English or in German AND English.

Rest assured, if it is rp or game relavant, it will be translated so that also non-German players will understand :?

otherwise assume that it is not really that important

I have noticed sometimes that some german players that can speak english begin to speak in german to prepare for a surprise attack. I think it is a cheap tactic but well, they can always say they are not so good at english ;)

Or the CHARACTERS could be speaking the old tounge because they know your character doesn't know it.

Yeah that is true too, but at the same time it is not the character that doesn't know the old tongue, it is the player. I could speak spanish and say I am speaking albarian and their character just doesnt know it.

There's one solution to the German/English languages.

Make a Illarion Language.

oh come on ... even if German players' chars 'communicate' ingame, knowing that English players are present, they often switch from German to English

garret and donal,

there is no point in accusations of that kind.
i could bring examples, where english speaking chars or players took advantage of non english speaking chars/players.

in each and every group there will be "back sheep".

or do we want a flame war?

i, personally think, that most of the germans here are showing enough consideration to the fact, that most north americans just know one foreign language: english.

Get silent, very fast, and don't open your mouth again.

You did exactly the same.

I remember your back to your first attack against Silverbrand.
Some players on the site of the dwarfs weren't able to understand your english. The german ones who understand both, were going to translate it.

And then you attacked, completly suprising, for those who don't understand the english.

Not true, Arien, the player of the character who died, understood english. I also wasted 5 minutes of my time trying to get the dwarf characters to translate my demands, but they did not. I saw the logs translated, they were telling themselves how to attack me.

Don't try this bullcrap nitram.

He logged on and was with several other characters at the time, we all assumed he logged on becuase someone told him his town was under attack and thereby already knew. Besides, we with every fight I start, I spend about 5 minutes talking before going to attack.
