Leather shoes.
I know this has been brought up befor. Everyone remember Varshikar maces? Thought so. The halfling merchant in Green Briar will buy shoes for over 20 coppers a peice in a bundle. I see people go there and make of 20 silvers a day. In a week any newb can have 100 silvers. This also causes inflation.
Befor Now
Leather 2 Coppers 3-5 coppers
Thread 2 Coppers 2-4 coppers
This is unrealistic a halfling would even carry this many coins and spend them all on shoes. Who needs a million shoes? No one thats who. In a few months maybe everyone would have 100 silvers...then everythings value goes up and coins value down. Please make the merchant not buy shoes or a drasticly reduced price that he buys for. Maybe 3 or 4 coppers a pair at max? I can't even sell half leather armor for as much as I can shoes now.

gort i am almost positive this is a bug of the npc's and is being worked on. i have seen a similar problem with the dwarf in the tavern. it seems all the scripts for buying stuff and selling stuff got put backwards. so the actual price for shoes is 3.5 copper at the start, it is ment to go up depending how many you sell to. take the tavern dwarf. he sells grey bottle for no coins, this is what he normally buys them for, and yet he will buy them back for 3 copper each.

Thats not right at all. Buying shoes for 20 coins and selling them for less than a fourth that is not logical. I dawrf(a race of smiths and miners) selling a good axe seems much more acceptable.Arameh_ wrote:Well, buying shoes for 20 coppers is as logical as the dwarf selling very good axes, all the NPCs needs fixing I think, their names are all messed up too.

*sigh* And once again, someone finds a reason to cry about the game not being realistic enough.
There is always going to be an easier way to do something. The harder it is made, the more people look for an easier path.
If the game isn't realistic enough, a good idea might be to go out and live life. That should be pretty close to the best realism one can find.
I am certain that this is not a bug, rather an oversight that the staff did not see. Oh no,
there's a way to make money that I didn't know about until now that others have been using. Not fair!
In real life, there are easy roads and there are shortcuts. Not everything is shit and gravel. So, to me it is more realistic that there are easier methods. These methods are rendered useless once everyone starts using them... and so too has this issue coming into light ruined it for everyone else.

Its plenty right as long as you don't over use it. There's nothing wrong it with it as long as you can understand that.
I offer your own words back to you. Please don't try to criticize me, Gort. I rarely even play this game as it is and when I do, I certainly don't even waste that little time with working the market system. An oversight like this really means nothing to me. Only when something as miniscule as this is complained about do I see anything wrong.
Players that are making 40 billion pairs of shoes are the ones who are causing problems, not this NPC. Don't hurt everyone else because of the actions of a few.
Its not a bug. And yeah, I have used it. The only difference between me admitting using it and you admitting to it is that I don't treat it as if its some kind of sin against Illarion and that I had some kind of realization against this would-be terror. I've also never used it to gain some ridiculous number like 20 silvers (why bother?)Gort wrote:"If I wanted I would also exploit this bug, sounds like you do."

Gort is right. if you don't put a lock on your door, don't say it's all the robbers fault. can't expect everyone to be perfect. 20 coins is overpriced and it should be fixed. he's not crying over something in the game, but simply saying something is over priced. I never knew about this, and I don't know how many people use it but it should be fixed in the near future.

I'm not saying the fault is solely the player. I do agree that the price is a bit high, but at the same time players should know that these things should be done in moderation. It isn't good RP to think that making a hundred pairs of shoes and selling them all to one lone merchant (unless, of course, your character is a bit "off") is a sound idea. That is where I feel players should show restraint.
The staff shouldn't have to change intended prices for items just because players don't know how to control themselves. Such thinking is what is makes this world so damn politically correct. ... I withdraw my point as I now see the similarities of modern, real life thinking with the thinking of the players of Illarion.

Making shoes as an income? Okay. A cobbler. Your point?
So, no.. I'm not blaming it all on the players. Find a different point please. If you had read my post, you would have seen that I wrote:I'm not saying the fault is solely the player. So you knew about it and never said anything huh? So why now? Can't ever get him to buy your shoes these days huh? Weren't you just in the market to buy 250 leathers? What were those for I wonder?Gort Greegog wrote:I knew about this about 9 months ago. But it's just been over exploited by people. The problem is that entrails, and therefore thread suddenly became a whole lot easier to get (From pigs now!). So people that were unable to, could suddenly take advantage of this market for shoes. This created a glut of people using him. Now you can't sell shoes there it seems, because so many people try to now.
It seems the more people that make shoes, the harder it is to sell them. I'm sure you're not the only one who knew about it and never said anything about it. Many people day in and day out, walk into Greenbriar and sell 80-90-100 pairs of shoes in broad daylight with all the world to see. That's how I found out about it myself, but Dusty's arms could never carry so many at once, so I was never able to take full advantage of it. However, the times that I do, I always passed on much (sometimes too much) of those profits to my suppliers. I felt I was providing a service by utilizing the market not only to help myself, but many others, and many sure needed the money. Fighters just couldn't get much for selling rusty horned helms and ornate daggers ya know, but I bought those from them too with the profits I managed to keep, then junked them anyway. I think the monsters the fighters kill should also drop coins, and not just junk. I stepped in and used this 'market' to help others, not simply 'take advantage' of it.
It may be a bug, or it may be intentional, as all the NPC's have different 'caps' on them. It doesn't matter. What angers me is all the people who have used this for God knows how long (Way before my time here) and never told anyone about it, much less shared the wealth with anyone. It was like a 'dirty' little secret they didn't want anyone to know about.
Now that thread is more available, the halfling probably should be capped to prevent abuse. Besides, there are two other NPC's who buy shoes.
If you can't utilize this 'market' anymore because everyone knows about it, don't whine about it....find something else to sell. There are about 14 different crafts with a wide range of items to make and sell. I'm sure you do, but others may not. They should. Diversify!

Donal, I see no problem with the trade. Most wanted items are bought from NPCs at a low price. If someone wants to buy it they will ask the person seller who will usually sell for much less then the NPC.
Ku makes all his money off cutlery. He can only sell 50 a day and if someone sells the cutlery before him then he is screwed over for another day. It is very slow and boring just selling an item that is completly useless to most people.

different regions have different prices for items.. Let's take RL per example.. you can't expect to have the same price for an item in the capital and in a random village. Prices are determined in function of the curent demand of an item in the region in question or the materials which are required to manufacture it
