Lonely

Post by paul laffing »

Paul strolls along the waterside, his hands deep in his pockets, his back hunched a little selfconsciously, and his blondish hair constantly flitting into his eyes. Occasionally he gazes into the river to see the flicking of fish tails in the last rays of glorious orange sunlight. He walks by the shop, where its become impossible for him to negotiate with the shopkeeper due to his ever decreasing amount of funds. He continues on down by the small cliques soaking in the atmosphere and chatting steadily.

I would not have thought I'd ever be a stranger in this place. Where have all the good times gone?

He stops by a well and stares into the blue-eyed reflection of the young man he has surely become.

"I thought you looked familiar," a voice calls out to Paul from behind, distant at first, growing slightly closer as Cain Freemont steps out from behind a tree he was resting against. "It never ceases to amaze me how quickly humans change in appearance." The tall, slender-figured elf smirks slightly as he looks Paul over, his emerald green eyes glimmering with life. His face has changed little from the last time Paul had seen him, though it is just as possible that he had forgotten his elven acquaintance.

Cain falls silent and cocks his head to the side a bit, still looking over Paul's changed appearance, a smile broadening across his face.

Paul's quiet curiousity quickly turns into a grin.

Cain! Old friend, so everything isn't lost afterall. I thought I'd never see you again. You look... older.

Paul studies the slow lines forming on his face matched against his lively eyes.
