Completely Black Screen..(I've seen the tech issues page)

Post by karate0punch »

Well, the program starts up as normal, with the pop-up saying the general info, then the log in box. After I enter my info, it exits out, and a big black screen comes on. Also, my mouse turns kind of weird also....anyways, I've tried everything I could think of. Turning music/sound off, making sure all the files were where they were supposed to be, and yes I am acessing the game from its original folder, not from a shortcut link. Please help me out, your game sounds very awesome, but bad for me if I can't play it

The server is down right now so all you'll get is a black screen. Did you make an account and character? If not you should do that while you wait for the server to come back online. It might be a while. :/

It doesn't fix itself, it has to be restarted. Please feel free to check out any number of other topics in the board that have the word "server" in them for all answers and information you could possibly want or imagine.

And, to be nice, there is no set time, the resetter has a life too and doesn't sit around in the dark waiting to press a button. :) You just have to be patient like the rest of us.

Just to be sure, did you answer the account questions, get response, create character and get it's name validated? If not, you won't be playing when it gets up :/ You'll need to login to the website and fill it out.

Yes zach, I made sure of all that. Anyways, I did some more investigating and here is what I found out...(when I got the blank black screen)

When I hit the ALT key, the mouse pointer turned into something that kind of looked like a torch, with little specks of dots circling the top of it.

When I hit the SHIFT key, my curser turned into a pretty large cross, or Plus + sign.

Please help... this is pretty weird :P

LOL. Ok, different buttons do different actions. When you with the shift key it changes to that because you are now "using" items. For example: to eat a peice of a fruit, you hold shift, click it, release. Alt is to bring up the magic menu, select runes, and cast a spell. Of course there is nothing if you don't know magic.

I don't see why you had to create 3 topics for this.

I'm experiencing similar problems. Black screen upon logging in. I see some white lines going from the left to the right. Moving my mouse appears to move the lines, clicking ctrl or alt changes the quality of the lines a little. And my screen starts making noise (some kind of high pith, like a broken tv)

I opened the program in a folder (not on my desktop). I tried reinstalling. My account was accepted, my character created. Searched (and still searching) the forum

The way my screen acts makes me think of a similar problem with another game. I changed something in my screen settings (i think the resolution), causing that game to be unplayable. I heard music when i opened the game, so i guess the game wokerd, but my screen was so messed up, i had to exit the game with alt+f4.
Oh, i have a NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro

Any suggestions? I'm running out of ideas. Thanks in advance :o

After fiddling a little with my configuration...

When I log in, I see my mouse pointer about 20 times, goig from left to right. After a few seconds, i get some kind of message. Unreadable, besause the message is also shown 20 times, and they overlap. But the game closes itself when I press ok. I know this is supposed to happen the first time I log in on a new character, but I keep getting this message, and my screen is still weird

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

What kind of resolutions does your monitor support?
Illarion runs on a fixed 1024x768 resolution, the client will try to change to this resolution on startup.

Otherwise it maybe your graphics card that has wrong settings or a outdated driver.

This is a very exotic error, if you ask me.

I think you are on the right track Keikan. My monitor doesnt support 1024x768

I guess the unreadable error was about distributing my experience points. After doing it, i managed to log in, but still with screen problems. Im kinda stupid when it comes down to stuff like this ;) I guess there is no way around this problem?

Thnxs a lot for your quick response btw :)

Currently there is no way arround it, the client just doesn't allow you to use any other aviable resolution.

There is a new client in the making, totally different to the one we currently use.
Maybe (thats a big maybe) this one allows you to play with other monitor settings (like 800x600), but I haven't tried it myself and cannot right now.

If Nop, or another tester, stumbles arross this topic he could give a more accurate answer.
