Books...

I cant seem to take any books for bookshelves, anyone know why?

if you open the bookshelf, you get a menu. You have to use the book in the menu to get the book.

I did get a list of books, I left click and hold and bring it to my inventory and nothing happens.

"Use" = Hold shift-key + left mouse botton

You don't do that. Follow Keikan's advice, which will move the book to the ground. Be a square adjacent to the square with the book, but not on it, then use, left click while holding shift, then let go, and you can start to read it. Adjust the numbercounter and use it again to read additional pages.
