Announcement:Building Costs?

Post by Aegohl »

It has ocurred to me and several other staff members that the old system of building costs is unwieldy and also disruptive to roleplaying.

As such, the cost of building will now, instead of being resources and copper, be group interaction, questing, solving of puzzles, and roleplaying.

This does not, however, mean that buildings will now be free. Undoubtedly, the gathering of resources will be part of the building quest. It also does not mean that you can begin building any time that you please. The benefit of many players, as opposed to a handful of players or an individual, will be our primary concern when we get a building request.

Another important note: we currently have five cities that are nearly impossible to properly fill. Requests for more cities will not be taken as seriously as requests for individual buildings--especially those within a city--and thus will be put low on the agenda, until we have more players available.

If at any time in the future you are interested in building something within a city, there is an assigned GM for each city, those being:

Arien Edhel: Trollsbane
Estralis Seborian: Silverbrand
Japheth: Greenbriar
Myself (you can call me Aegohl): Varshikar
Damien: Tol Vanima

As yet another important note: In the case of Varshikar, I myself already have a plan in the works to repair the buildings in Varshikar and make it a good roleplaying environment. No need to PM me if that was what you were asking for, but ideas and requests are still welcome.

All accpeted build requests concerning Silverbrand will be included in a new map update. Ask your ingame King, his ingame fiancé or me if you want to find out details.

However, as Aegohl already mentioned, there is no guarantee that new buildings are build just because you have enough copper. Also, buildings that are not used anymore may decay or even be torn down.

But what this also implies: It is possible to build houses in Illarion. :-)

I would like some more rp with it. An announcement in the rpg forum. -With names of the different construction managers to whom you can write if you want to build. so that your character will speak ingame with someone other, and not that a player speaks with a gm ooc and than having the thing happen ingame.

Call it "The Gobaith guild of construction managers" Or so. weaves more rp around it. You understand what I mean? Make an ingame thing out of it!

The way in which I am working these sorts of quests, there is no builder. The people themselves build their villages, with some helpful hints and actions by GM's.

There was a time where only the most wealthy had people to construct things for them. The rest were left with their fellow villagers to help them do the dirty work.

And in the case of Greenbriar, we're currently repopulating it. The old Evergreeners still own the place, but they should be getting some new tenants soon. When they see life in the place again, I'm sure they'll be encouraged to expand and develop their village once more.
