For example: Can you be a cook or make items?

Yep. Just visit the main site for all the information you need.

Just look under skills on the left hand side bar. Edelstein Schleifer = gem cutter, also peasantry = farming.

I was also wondering when do I get accepted to Play Illarion?

Did you apply for an account? If so, keep logging in to see if you can create characters.

Yes I did apply but only two hours ago..

Keep checking back, sometime this week you should be able to log in and create characters...Then you wait for the names to be accepted, then you can play

Do you mean when I go to the client and type in Benziller it will eventually let me in?

Because now it says there is no character with that name yet Benziller is my Username not Character name...

No. Log into your account on the main site, if your story is accepted you will be able to submit characters, then if the characters are accepted you can distribute their attributes.
Meanwhile, I would check out http://www.moonsilver.de/english/main_e.htm as it has all the background information for Illarion.
