From now on it is possible to see the quality of your weapons & armor. Every item has a quality and a durability. If you find any errors in the texts, please post them here like this:

Item: bad text  good text

In addition, some NPCs have changed. Check out ingame!

---

Es ist nun möglich, die Qualität von Waffen und Rüstungen zu sehen. Jeder Gegenstand weißt eine Qualität und eine Haltbarkeit auf. Wenn jemand Fehler in den Texten findet, so möge er sie wie folgt posten:

Gegenstand: falscher Text  richtiger Text

Hmm I look at "axe handles" and instead of that it says "Scissors"
Axe Handle: Scissors  Axe handle?

This is a little more complicated a make some shoes, I click on them.
Very bad shoes
New shoes
Very bad new shoes
Used shoes
Very bad used shoes

There may have been a few more but the message seems a little random.
The same can be said for my war axe.
Old rusted war axe
Decaying war axe
Very old war axe.

This would make buying some hard, as one would have to click it 20 times and guess what it really was.
I love this new feature though it is awesome,

Das selbe mit dem Hemd.

Ich klicke auf das selbe Hemd und jedes mal eine neue Nachricht:

alte Hemd
zerissene Hemd
schlechte, alte Hemd
sehr schlechte, alte Hemd
sehr schlechte, etwas zerissene Hemd

(also mitsamt den Fehlern.)

That would be considered bad roleplaying. It's like saying "well, fighting is a little complicated, I need to train for 40 days until I am able to kill a dragon!"

It was NOT meant to look at one item for 30 times to get exact data; if it was meant to be like that, I could have well saved my time by simply giving you the exact value. Instead, it depends on your perception and your knowledge of that item type how accurate you are in seeing that.

That's a kind of a problem: What is a "fighter"?

What I can do is: Replace "smithing" with max("smithing","slashing weapons") or ("smithing"+"slashing weapons")/2, the same for maces and so on.

However, what about armors then? What about shields?

I am open for suggestions, however I feel the need of moving that discussion to the technical board or the proposal board.

I like the variation, I was mostly playing with multi clicks to see how it worked. I also like your idea of not getting the perfect details, The huge variation was what had me a little confused.
Sometimes it says new shoes, some times old and torn....
If it is meant to be this way as skill check against my perception/skills...then i think it is really fantastic and my thanks for your effort. At first it appeared as perhaps a bug.
I really love the new system it is one of the best things I have seen for a while.

Either your bad eyes or your nearly nonexisting knowledge about that item :)

Better you go into the tailoring business to learn a little about that :)

It's exactly meant like that (and, in fact, it is that). Maybe you find an experienced smith with a good eye, he'll be able to tell you what *he* sees in your weapon.

However, maybe you can now see why your weapons break so fast. Most of you use old and rusty weapons of bad quality. I'd try to find a smith that sells better wares fast. ;)

Thanks.

I think that it can add a lot of RP now.
Imagine a king: Would he want to wear torn shoes? A nearly decayed shirt? A badly smithed crown?
Guess not.

Harhar.

Maybe there could be an additional skill implemented for quality determination?
This would be helpful for merchants who buy and sell things without actually crafting anything by themselves. You need a good eye for quality as a merchant, and I guess perception alone won't be enough to reliably determine item quality.

I considered that and decided against that option.
