Depot

It's just something that occurred to me. Depot. How should we RP with it? I mean, the chest is on the floor, then you put a dagger inside, go to another town, open a chest there and... TA-DA! Here is your dagger.
I don't know if this was already discussed or if already there is a way to RP with it (magic chest?), so, that's why I'm asking. Not that it really matters to the game. I'm just curious about it.

Well, for the moment their just one of the miracles of life

They're goint to be changed, however, so every town will get it's own depot system.

That is easy to explain. Or haven't you asked yourself where the fairys are which are descripted on the playerrace page? The reason why they aren't implemented is really simple. We need them for the depots. We need for every player a small fairy, which takes all the stuff from the depot and carries it to all the other depots. (poor fairies, really hard work for them when i think what amounts of useless stuff some peoples have in their depots.) So we haven't implemtented them as playerrace yet. They haven't got the time to be used as an player avatar. Maybe if all players would clean up their depots we will have some fairies with less work to do so we can use them as player avatars.

As Adano said: It has a technical reason why it is like it is. We hope to change that soon to a more realistic system.

Yeah, a few of us just RP that they are ancient and were made with ancient magic to where different people can use the same depot, but only the items for the person currently using it can be seen. And also that the peron can go to any otehr depot to retreive his items... by magic...

We also associate the magic with how many things the darn depot can hold

It is the same magic like with the bags, or how hoften do you see a bag in which you may put a few huge axes, or anything else big enough for a car? just roleplay its magic. i even saw same peoples who slept in their depots, its a warm and nice place *g*

Some people actually roleplay that they don NOT have everything in every depot. Even though it is technically not correct, I appreciate this roleplay. I someone says: "Sorry, I have lots of cakes, but they are in Greenbriar. Follow me and we can trade.", this sound like great roleplay to me.

Or have you ever seen two depotchests at the same time?

Um...yes, at the shop and the library, and once in Silverbrand.

Oh no, noone want discworld-chests in Illarion...they are more worse than a dozen Fluffys. Fluffy shows sometimes a bit of kindness, the chests are just cruel and ill tempered killers, with a never ending bad bad mood.
