A few basic questions, :-)

Post by Pendar »

Hello all,
Well I finally got to log into the game for a few minutes today and it seems great.
I am going to be away for a few weeks but when I return I hope to become a familar face in Illarion.
I have a few basic questions wich I help some one can help me with,
Firstly how does one say I dont speak german politely? I may not speak any german but I can at least be curtiouse about it :-).

Then digging could some one either reply here or just PM me, what order does one click on things. I got it right once as my character was suddenly exhausted. The client doesnt give one much feed back to let you know if you are actually diggin or not. So just a step by step would be awesome.
As I cannot imagine how to RP walking up to some one and going ummm i dont know how to dig a hole lol.
I will of course seek places to dig by trial and error or asking around. just need the mechanics so to speak.
I could have sworn I saw a how to get started page on the illarion site that detailed how to dig and suggested going to kill some pigs and such, But now I cant find it ..so a link would be just as good.

Other skills would be a lot easyer to ask some one if they would teach.
Thanks in advance

Politely I believe you can say "Ich kann kein deutsch." but im sure there are other ways.
what order does one click on things.
Depends on what you're doing. Usually it's Shift + Left click on something, then on another one: ie - Click on item the on Eliza.
I got it right once as my character was suddenly exhausted.
That would be SHIFT+ left click on an apple or food and let go of shift key.
The client doesnt give one much feed back to let you know if you are actually diggin or not.
If you turn your sound up you can hear it.
So just a step by step would be awesome.
here: http://free.hostdepartment.com/I/Illarion That should help.

Yes don't do that...

Once again, go to that site listed above.

Just be sure and ask in game.

Your welcome.

German is the old language, english is the new language.

So just say that you are not able to speak the old language. Than the most players know that you dont speak german! ^^

If I remember correctly, a good way to say that to german only speakers, is "nein alte tongue" meaning no old tongue, which most people wil lrealize emans that you dont speka german, except for that phrase explaining that you dont ;)

Isn't it "kein alte Zahle"? Or do you think english-deutsch mix sounds better with ya "nein alte tongue"?

Why don't you just say "Ich bin klein schinken", or something that makes sense: "Ich nicht spreche deustch", barbaric simplicity. I NOT SPEAK GERMAN.

If you want a polite, and even medieval way you could say "Es tut mir aufrichtig leid, aber ich bin der alten Zunge nicht mächtig." But then nobody would believe you.

Actually, even those who don't speak english will understand you if you say "Sorry, I don't speak German/ the old tongue/ your language/..."

The best is still "HÄÄÄÄ?"

no, honestly.

for me it is not very logical to say in a tongue that you don't speak you don't even have to say that you don't speak the old tongue, it is enough to write an english #me where you look confused and like you wouldn't understand anything, or you speak with him on english, asking him what he said. the other one will see that you don't understand him, or he will change to english, if he can speak it.

I think most people will get the message after you keep RP-ing and talking in English.

...unless you happen to run into the O Mighty King of the Dwarves (we won't mention any names), who will call you a "stupid dumb and blond elf" if you don't...... answer to his German immediately  .
