Wow, that made for some very interesting, albeit tedious at times, reading. Dave, you have certainly done your homework, and your vast experience is serving you well through this thread. My thought about your rp choice is simply this: if you can rp it, then rp it.

Frankly, I don't care what someone chooses to do with their character, as long as they can make it believable. And after reading all of this, if anyone can pull it off, Dave can. I can't wait to see this orc in game and tug on my beard in amazement as he, dare I say it, impresses me. Go on Dave, rock me to my Dwarven core.

And as far as the concept of a "smart" orc, for lack of a better description, if there were not manipulative, cunning, and cerebral (yeah, I said it, cerebral) orcs floating about, then there would be NO organization whatsoever. There would be no orc leaders. There would be no orc guilds or clans. There would be no group attacks.

I seriously doubt that a single orc running into an encampment would strike too much fear in the hearts of those sequestered there, regardless of however menacing he, or she to be politically correct, may be. It takes some type of organization and planning for a group of orcs to overrun another group.

And if the orcs respond to antagonists with any form of response other than bludgeoning them to death, then they aren't exhibiting "neandrathalic" behavior. And therefor, they need someone to manipulate them and "stir" them into cooperative effort.

Dave's character could very easily fit into that role, even though he's not looking to step into that position.

Just my $0.03 :)

Yes, it is hard to play secretive loner characters. Illarion is a game where communication is about 60-70% of the fun. Without communication, you will be getting only 30-40% of fun.

Thank you Bunzlo! As much as negative feedback is good for growth, sometimes it's nice to hear the positive! ^_^

I really look forward to RPing in Illarion, but I have yet to receive a response to my application. I'm patient though...I can wait. How long, would you say, would be too long (i.e. try to apply again)?

This is quite a test of patience, I must say. It's been 2 weeks now, since I was accepted, and still no active account. But I don't resent the process. In fact, I relish it.

I guess my only fear is that the building anxiety might solicit some haphazard feedback from my overly eager imagination. When I am finally activated, I sincerely hope that I haven't produced too vivid a picture of what I will experience, and then suffer a let down. It's human nature, and I, for lack of a better description, am pretty much human.

Anyway, getting back on topic, I believe most are aware of the rp emphasis in Illarion. If I may take the liberty to dissect the intent of this thread, I would say that Dave was neither seeking approval nor feigning ignorance by asking about "going it alone" in Illarion. Based on his comments, I would surmise that even though he genuinely desired an answer to the question, he also expected to bring about a dialogue which would facilitate the insertion of his rp intentions.

See, this is what happens when I have to wait too long for something. I get so damned analytical that even I want to tell me to shut up. :)

I hope that Bunzlo and Dave got accepted, they seem to be good RPs.
The idea of Dave is a good one, maybe he can have a sidekick in his evil plans to corrupt and destroy the civilization of Trollsbane.
Maybe, he was the mind behind the present war.... who knows?

I hope I'll get accepted soon, I can't wait to play Illarion, and meet Bunzlo and Dave characters, maybe we will be friends... or enemies
