recently i received a special message, which i think is most amusing. I have decided to share this entertainment with the public.
Note: This message was delivered to me via an apple, tossed from the other side of the river. If anyone else is looking forward to send me secret messages, i have to say, i prefer a common dove.
On the original parchment another one is attached. The parchment is obviously covered with several stains. The handwriting is much more delicate and decorated than the guardsman´s and show, that a person cared a lot about the impression, that it would give the reader.
Hagen Von Rabenfield, Captain of the Guard,
I have taken the time to write this note to you to see if we could reach a compromise. I could be helpful to you, Hagen, more helpful than I would be if I were dead or in prison.
If you were following the right leads, you'd realize that I am not a violent type. Nor am I a thief. Nor can I cast magic. In other words, you have nothing on me, but I fear you could still be a danger.
I have found that recent partakings in local crime do not serve my interests. Rather, violence is bad for business. I never meant for things to get this messy. I fear I may have unintentionally contributed to the environment, however, and for that I am truly sorry.
I have offered this same proposition to Tialdin, in hopes that I could end the suffering and violence, but I have not heard word from him. Possibley you are a man of more wisdom than even him.
If you don't yet know what I am offering, I will make it explicitly clear. I am offering to become your informant on local crime. No one has learned so much and gained so much credibility within the blackmarkets and local gangs as myself. I would be quite an asset to a guardsman like yourself.
I expect all of this to be handled in a matter most confidential.
Your Hopeful Servant,
~~Moskher "Hesh" Heszche
P.S. Why be like Tialdin and send in spies, when you can have the man whose job it is to root out spies working for you? This should seem obvious.
You couldn´t imagine, what disturbing things you have to witness, while being on duty as a guardsman, dear citizens.
Yours,
~Hagen von Rabenfeld~
~your jolly corrupt guardsman~
