Re: Upate 30th January

Reducing ALL teleporter costs would have been nice.
But the current change is crap. The additional teleporting fee is counterproductive for playing together.
Simple example is handling bigger deals between towns (ore, sand, grain).
The telepoting fee between towns was already annoyingly enough.
Thanks for adding more barriers for trading (and role play) between fractions ;-)
And please do not come up with the common killer argument that we need a money sink ...

Re: Upate 30th January

The removal of the fee for travelling to the Hemp Necktie Inn was done for a reason. It turned out the desired effect was not achieved, so we removed that exception again.

To address the mentioned points, we are working on a) ways to make trading between towns much more convenient and b) more teleporting options - for free! But this takes some time and patience.

For the charaters, this is/was not an exception, it is a fact, that you can travel for free to Hempty. Since around 5 IG years.

Re: Upate 30th January

Well that sucks on of my characters doesn't collect money in fact he hates it. He uses the trip to hempty to gather his gems and supplies from the glittery mine. So now he has no way to travel from. Hempty to Galmair caused he to weak to make it if he walks to poor to pay someone to escort him no hempty was the one place my characters to meet others when they had no coin to rp. But hey lets back track instead of moving forward. I love that idea. Who ever thought of that wasn't thinking. Yeah I have a great idea let's move forward by moving backwards. Such brilliant thinking.

That was me. I would like you to use a more friendly tone, thank you.

On the matter:
1. Five silver is extremly cheap. You can make that money in a very fast time with the most simple work. If you play a character that doesn't like money, than this is your decision. Just like you can't use the repair NPC without money, you can't use the teleporters without money. Playing characters with attitudes that conflict with the rest of the world (and hating money is such an attitude), will lead to disadvantage.
I believe you misjudge the impact that such a cheap price has. I dare to say that this doesn't really change anything for normal characters. Come on, five silvers. Really? That won't make you poor.

2. You brought up the glittering cave. That is one of the reasons why the costs of the teleporter were re-added. From time to time, I have put my admin char to the Necktie and observed for what the teleporter is used. Most of the time it is the glittering cave. In other words: Making money. And since you said you use the mine, I guess you now how much you can make there right now. Therefore, it will not render the mine useless (again: Guys, it's five silver. Not five gold.).

Well the monthly tax was reduced from 5% to 1% so it's not that big of a deal.

Re: Upate 30th January

It is a big deal cause there was no reason for the change. Was there even an rp of whybit went from free to taxed. No. Stuff like this as I said is backwards thinking and that was a nice tone. Could have had an rp let the citizens vote but no. You saw characters making money and poof there it is a money sink excuse again. Let's move backwards not forwards. Even if its cheap its the point. There was no rp no nothing just ig character are gonna have to be like poof its nonlonger free. Makes tones of sense yeah way to go.

There was no RP reason going from 5 silver to 0. How did you survive before that?

Re: Upate 30th January

1 when it changed I was not around and if I was I would have said hey where is the rp. Would y'all have still done it sure can't stop y'all from back peddling. But the citizens of galmair for example are already mad with the government. Could have been fun to rp it. Yes we can rp it a certain way which I plan to do. But opportunity for a good small rp gone.
2. My character hates coin does not put him in disadvantage he trades for items he needs.
3. Jupiter so basically your saying you did for.money sink cause people used it for glittery mines. Did you ask people. Cause hempty was the meeting place for hunting treasure, parties, secret plans. It was easier to meat there cause you didn't need coin to meet. But you just saw one or two people use it for glittery and said well its being abused. Not really cause that won't stop them from using glittery. All it stops is broke characters from meeting at hempty for rp.

Re: Upate 30th January

Know my characters used the free ride to the Hempty to meet up with others and none of them are miners. Think this was done to punish a few and ends up punishing all. Can't say I like it.

Re: Upate 30th January

I feel the urge to apologize for allegedly adult players who continue to fail in bringing forth constructive criticism. Especially in this very case it is as point- and mindless as Merung explained. For this I can vouch since I, too, spent many an hour at both the Inn and the mines and it is as Merung said.

Call me a brown-noser and sorry for directing this thread into flames but this is why I personally refrain from reading the forums. I opened this thread to learn what's new and actually the first thing I read is Ragorn immediately throwing insults and misplaced sarcasm (once again).
The second person is Azure accusing those who worked on the patch of not thinking when obviously such patches undergo a long process of work to which the ranters seemingly didn't contribute at all.

I do smirk at how especially ridiculous it is to bring up "the lack of RP-reasons" when you look at the erratic and inexplicable roleplay you've been delivering ever since you started playing, Azure. Sorry but I cannot keep myself from putting this out there. Such a lack of self-assessment sickens me.

In the end I can only recommend the staffies to either delete or ignore such posts if the persons behind it lack the decency to voice their 'concerns' adequately.
"Keep up the good work" is a worn out phrase tossed at you by people who feel you require all the motivation you can get and I never really went for it before but hey.. keep up the good work just to spite those ungrateful ignoramuses (such a fancy word).

Re: Upate 30th January

Personally I am exited to do the Albrecht Dürer... er 'Alberto Dicker' quest. :)

Do I understand right in that the adjustment of rat levels prevents levelling defence to 50-60 with them for newbies?
If so, I can't say that I appreciate the change. Sewer rats have been a newcomer friendly shortcut to get defence skills up to reasonable levels without spars so new fighters don't get munched by the next best monster they encounter after leaving safe areas. All three settlements have small numbers rather strong hostiles either straying to or outright spawning close to the heartland in spite of the design philosophy to have no high level dungeons or monsters close to the settlements.

Re: Upate 30th January

I look forward to the new quests: Obsidimine, Brigette Russ and Numila Irunnle. I do personally enjoy the NPC quests and look forward to more in the future. It helps create a nice atmosphere in the wild and helps to further the game story in towns and so on. To a player like myself who has seen pretty much everything in game I like to see more of them popping up to keep the game fresh.

Overall the update looks like a list of carefully considered changes and works to polish the game. Well done on all that work, keep the motivation up.

Re: Upate 30th January

I'm not as angry as some others about the change in the teleporter fees but I understand it and feel like it needs some calm explanation. I'm disappointed in the trend to see problems rather than possibilities. Personally, I'm not using the mines so it's a little hard to support the change. Mostly though, it shows a development wish to control the way players behave through punishment rather than through encouragement. I think that's why the feedback is so intensely negative.

The players find something fun that wasn't intended. That provides so much information about how to develop this game into something really exciting to play. There is so much possibility in that. It's a source of ongoing disappointment to see development fail to recognize those possibilities and instead take a punitive approach.

When players find their own sources of fun and development focuses on removing or making unplayable those areas rather supporting the fun, we get hostile, reactionary forum posts. When players respond to development with hostility, developers might look for more ways to stick it to them. It's really not a good formula.

First of you don't apparently know the background of where my character come from. Cause if you did read the fourms. You would know he is erratic in nature. Almost a perfect nargun follower. And everything he done is explained and also has been talked to about by a GM. So before you throw uneducated remarks about someone's rp learn it and actually rp with them more then a couple times.

Second I have always given constructive feedback when it is needed. But sometimes to get people's attention the cold hard truth needs to be said. Yes the devs put alot of work and I commend them. But all I'm saying is something could have been rped like borgate reapplying the tax. But to do it cause a few use it for the mines is a step backwards and they were not thinking sorry but that is how I feel and apparently I'm not alone.

Now with that said I do agree with qwert about the rat quest. But others parts seem fine as far as I can tell haven't been there to test them out yet.

Cough, cough. Keep in mind we are constantly working on improving this game. But we also realise when we did something wrong. Like removing the fee for teleporting to the Hemp Necktie Inn. The main idea was to have a neutral meeting point where you could check out for other players to roleplay with. As it was described, the removal of the fee had no impact on this. So we are thinking about a NEW way how to achieve the desired goal. It is just not done and not released with this update. So stay tuned! We don't play "whack-a-mole" whenever fun pops up even though this time, the hammer hit hard on some. But cotton candy is ahead :D!

For what ever it is worth, today, and am still IG, I have spent 1g, 10 s in transport, not a small sum. But I do support the change. Unless it is to be free between all towns, you should have to pay for hemp too. That is where the money is.

Re: Upate 30th January

They put out an update and everyone flips out over the most asinine part of the update. The roleplay reason is that whoever runs the teleporters wants to make profit and be able to upkeep their very complex piece of magical equipment. Your issue is the equivalent of you, as a player, refusing to operate any longer in U.S. dollars and then complaining that you can't use the public bus because you no longer use any form of currency.

Appreciated Mr. E. I for one look forward for cotton candy. I will say I'm sorry if I caused a ruckus. But one thing people need to learn about me. I speak my mind. If I see a wrong I call it. I don't sugar coat it. I have two kids. I don't be like hey son you not supposed to steal. I be like pop with the belt and then be son why did you get spanked. He replies cause I stole. And guess what he don't steal again. So I don't sugar coat it. Now when he does a good job I say good job and he gets a reward. So that's me in a bit she'll. So if you don't like the truth I speak then don't reply back cause I'll hurt your feelings.

First of you can't compare this to real life cause if you can then everyone would have a free way to travel so there would be no issue. If you compare it to real life back to roughly the same time period many didn't use coin but a barter system. So that's that I will try not to reply on this part of the update as long as the asinine people leave it alone as well.

Re: Upate 30th January

I apologize for my undiplomatic feedback at the beginning of this thread. I fully agree with Matron. I will try to find better words in the future, be less sarcastic and more constructive.
English is not my mother tongue. Some of my statements might sound harsher than intended, sorry. I will change that.

I really appreciate the new features which were published with this update as well as the great additional content from many previous updates (e.g. lake of live, akultat, vulcano, and much more).
And I am really looking forward doing the new announced quests and I am curious, what future additions/changes we will get in crafting.
Thanks for your good work and the time you put in to make that game better!

It would be so much more diplomatic to hold off removing a feature until the candy is ready. So much of this negativity could be avoided that way.
