Names for skill level

Post by Flint Stoneside »

I notice people need to know or it helps to know other's skill levels for whatever reason. I want to propose a set name for each level of any skill. So if someone wants to know my finesmithing level I could tell them that I am an adept at finesmithing which would mean I am level 50 atleast for example. Or say I am a master which could be lvl 90. Apprentice, level 20. I do not know what to call it exactly for the level but I hope you get my idea. These names would apply for all skills that level. This way it would help cut down on ooc talk and provide a good IG way to tell others. Let me know what everyone thinks.

I believe if you walk up to one of the crafting npcs in your town they will tell you what "rank" you are. If it isn't a primary craft in your town, however, here are the ranks.

-- Level 10: Novice / Anfänger.
-- Level 20: Apprentice / Lehrling.
-- Level 30: Initiate / Initiat.
-- Level 40: Journeyman / Geselle.
-- Level 50: Specialist / Spezialist.
-- Level 60: Expert / Experte.
-- Level 70: Adept / Adept.
-- Level 80: Artisan / Artisane.
-- Level 90: Master / Meister.
-- Level 100: Grandmaster / Großmeister.

Oh, alright. I thought that was in Galmair only. For the guilds. Never mind then. Good to know and have the list at least. Thanks Dan.

Initiat => Anwärter

The other german word "Adept" and "Artisane" are ok, I think. At least they are words I use regulary.

Artisan bedeutet nichts anderes, als Handwerker. Was man natürlich auch erstmal wissen muß.

Vorschlag / Proposal:
-- Level 10: Novice / Neuling.
-- Level 20: Apprentice / Lehrling.
-- Level 30: Initiate / Anwärter.
-- Level 40: Journeyman / Geselle.
-- Level 50: Specialist / Altgeselle. (maybe senior journeyman in en)
-- Level 60: Expert / Fachmann. (no real difference between 50 and 60 .. either in en or de ..)
-- Level 70: Adept / Meisterschüler. (maybe use adept instead of expert and master scholar here?)
-- Level 80: Artisan / Meisteranwärter. (artisan seems to be synonym for craftsman, maybe master initiate?)
-- Level 90: Master / Meister.
-- Level 100: Grandmaster / Großmeister.
