Citizens of Cadomyr!

Regrettably the Royal Court has been informed that Baron Marescot continues to be incapacitated through ill health and shows no signs of recovery. With no worthy successor having had the courage to step forward in his stead, the Crown is compelled to act.

Dantagon Marescot is hereby relieved of his burden and relinquishes any duties befalling a noble of the realm.

The Silver Gryphons thus forfeit their right to be recognised as a house of the Royal Court.

With the strain lifted from his shoulders, may Knight Marescot find a speedy recovery and find the courage to continue his righteous and honourable path.

He is thanked for his service to the realm.

On behalf of Her Majesty Queen Rosaline Edwards
Royal Chancellor,
Anthar Vilicon

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bürger Cadomyrs!
Mit Bedauern wurde Uns mitgeteilt, dass Baron Marescot weiterhin von seiner schlechten Gesundheit außer Gefecht gesetzt bleibt und keine Zeichen der Besserung zeigt. Da sich bisher kein würdiger Nachfolger gezeigt hat, ist die Krone gezwungen, zu handeln.
Dantagon Marescot wird hiermit seiner Pflichten enthoben und aus seinem Wirken als Adeliger des Reichs entlassen.
Das Haus der Silbernen Greifen gibt somit sein Recht auf, als Haus des königlichen Hofs anerkannt zu sein.
Möge die Entfernung der Bürde dieser Pflichten den Ritter Marescot in einer raschen Genesung unterstützen und möge er die Courage finden, weiterhin seinem rechten und ehrenhaften Pfad zu folgen.
Wir danken ihm für seinen Dienst am Reich.
Im Namen Ihrer Majestät Königin Rosaline Edwards
Königlicher Kanzler,
Military Cooperation Treaty
In recognition of the value of friendship and collaboration, Cadomyr and Galmair hereby enter into agreement to provide cooperative military support in times of need.
Both parties, Cadomyr and Galmair, hereby assure military support for each other where needed.
Need is defined by:
A. One or more citizens being attacked by a non-citizen.
B. A town or property under siege by enemies.
C. Request by an official of one realm for support in another, uncommon situation.
On receipt of request, the supporting realm is asked to send an appropriate number and calibre of armed citizens to aid the other realm.
This can be denied, if:
A. The supporting realm is under concurrent attack.
B. Any supporting action would be futile, leading to unnecessary loss of life.
Where supportive combat is deemed futile, the supporting realm has the responsibility to assistance in evacuation from the attacked realm to a place of refuge and provision of care, including but not limited to the supply of food and drink, treatment of wounds, and rearmament.
Once signed by both parties, this treaty lasts five years, before it expires and needs to be prolonged.
______
Militärischer Kooperationsvertrag
In Anerkennung des Wertes der Freundschaft und Zusammenarbeit, schließen Cadomyr und Galmair hiermit einen Vertrag, der die militärische Kooperation in Zeiten der Not beschließt.
Beide Parteien, Cadomyr und Galmair, sichern sich hiermit gegenseitige Unterstützung zu, so sie benötigt wird.
Sie wird benötigt, wenn:
A. Ein oder mehrere Bürger von Außenstehenden angegriffen werden.
B. Eine Stadt oder deren Grund von Feinden belagert wird.
C. Offizielle eines Reiches nach Unterstützung anfragen, in einer anderen, ungewöhnlichen Situation.
Nach Erhalt der Anfrage, verpflichtet sich das unterstützende Reich eine angemessene Anzahl und Stärke an bewaffneten Bürgern zur Hilfe zu schicken.
Dies kann abgelehnt werden, falls:
A. Sich das angegriffene Reich selbst einem Angriff gegenübersieht.
B. Unterstützung vergeblich wäre und lediglich zum sinnlosen Verlust von Leben führen würde.
Wenn Unterstützung im Kampf als vergeblich angesehen wird, muss das unterstützende Reich Hilfe bei Evakuierung aus dem angegriffen Reich zu einer sicheren Unterkunft leisten. Dies beinhaltet, ist aber nicht darauf beschränkt: Die Versorgung mit Nahrung, das Behandeln von Wunden und Wiederaufrüstung.
Dieser Vertrag gilt ab dem Moment der Unterzeichnung durch beide Parteien und ist auf fünf Jahre begrenzt, ehe er ausläuft und erneuert werden muss.
Lizenzkosten für Bürger Runewicks
Beginnend am heutigen 1. Eldas 61, beginnt die erneute Erhebung von Lizenzkosten für Bürger Runewicks. Das bedeutet, dass Bürger Runewicks, die unsere Werkstätten nutzen wollen, zunächst eine zeitlich begrenzte Lizenz von unserem Notar erwerben müssen.
Dies liegt darin begründet, dass Runewicker Bürger, die an dieser Stelle nicht namentlich genannt werden, die Rohstoffe und Werkzeuge Cadomyrs zu einem nicht mehr akzeptablen Grad nutzten und somit die freien Lizenzen ausnutzten.
Da es auch Berichte davon gibt, dass die hier produzierten Waren für einen höheren Gewinn in Galmair verkauft werden. Somit werden cadomyrische Rohstoffe geradezu geplündert, cadomyrische Werkzeuge werden ohne einen Mehrwert für das Reich abgenutzt und müssen teuer repariert werden.
Runewickier, die nachweisen können, dass Cadomyr von ihrer Arbeit profitiert, sind herzlich dazu eingeladen, eine Rückerstattung der Lizenzen zu beantragen. Beispiele dafür sind Schmiede, die Rüstungen für die Cadomyrische Rüstungskammer fertigen, oder Glasbläser, die Krüge und Gläser für die Taverne herstellen. Diese Anträge können an mich gestellt werden und werden normalerweise so schnell wie möglich bearbeitet.
Dies hat nun erst einmal bis zum Ende des Jahres 61 ein Ende. Diese Erhebung ist eine letzte Warnung, sollten die freien Lizenzen anschließend weiterhin so schamlos ausgenutzt werden, wird über eine dauerhafte Erhebung diskutiert werden müssen. Dies ist keine Aggression gegen Runewick, lediglich ein Versuch die eigene Wirtschaft zu schützen.
Licenses for Runewickians
Starting today, the 1st of Eldas year 61, Cadomyr will once again demand licenses for citizens of Runewick to make use of our workshops. This means that any Runewickian seeking to use our workshops must first purchase a time limited license from our notary.
The reason for this change lies in the ongoing abuse of Cadomyr's tools and resources, by people bearing Runewick citizenship. The individual names of these people will go unmentioned, but they and their town leaders have already been alerted to the consequences beforehand, so they should know who they are.
Additionally, there have been reports from Galmair, that these people choose to sell these wares there. This mean that not only are they taking advantage of our hospitality by taking resources from Cadomyrian land, and wearing out our tools; They are not even contributing to the Cadomyrian economy, by selling these wares elsewhere. This is simply robbery of our resources, and abuse of our good will.
However, any Runewickian who can prove that their work benefits Cadomyr, are welcome to come ask for a refund for the price of the licensing. An example of this could be a smith selling to the Cadomyrian Armory, or a glassblower providing mugs to our tavern. Those requests can be brought to me and will be worked on as soon as possible.
For now, this fine will only be in place until the end of year 61. It is meant as a final warning to the people involved, as if this kind of behavior continues to such an extent, we will be forced to set up a permanent licensing fine for Runewickian citizen in our realm.
Lizenzkosten für Bürger Runewicks
Nach einem Gespräch und Verhandlungen mit Deanna, hebe ich die zuletzt eingeführten, zeitlich begrenzten Lizenzkosten früher auf als ursprünglich geplant. Die Kosten werden ab dem Beginn von Findos 61 ((sobald ich IG dazu komme)) ausgesetzt. Wie ihr sehen könnt, endet diese Maßnahme nach drei, statt wie zunächst geplant, nach fünf Monaten. Bitte versteht auch diese drei Monate als Warnung, unsere Rohstoffe und Werkzeuge künftige verantwortungsbewusst zu nutzen. Sollte dies nicht geschehen, werden die restlichen fünf Monate reaktiviert, doch das würde ich gerne vermeiden.
Licenses for Runewickians
After a talk and some negotiations with Deanna, I agreed to lift the recently set-up, time-limited fee earlier than originally planned. The fee will be lifted at the beginning of Findos 61 ((As early as I can log in in that IG-month)). As you can see, it will end after three months instead of the previously planned eight months. Please consider those three months as a warning to use our resources and tools reasonable. If this goes unacknowledged, the five remaining months can be set up again, however, I would prefer to not have to do that.
Revocation of citizenship
The lizardman Rashaz is hereby stripped of his status as a citizen of Cadomyr, and with it all protection afforded him by the realm.
After attacking both guests of Cadomyr and even me in the past and being sent to the prison mine for a warning, he has again attacked innocents and brought shame on Cadomyr with his behaviour. He threatened Clairette in Galmair and raised his weapon against Cynthia and Trowin, injuring both. He also threatened to murder in Moshran's name. This behaviour and open support of the fallen god is not to be tolerated and therefore, combined with his recently served sentence in the prison mine, leads to his expulsion from Cadomyr society. Should he enter Cadomyr despite his banishment, he is to be arrested or, should he resist arrest, slain.
Should Rashaz be able to credibly demonstrate within the next two dwarven weeks that he is not responsible for these crimes, the banishment may possibly be reversed or commuted to another punishment.
________________
Aufhebung der Bürgerschaft
Der Echsenmann Rashaz verliert hiermit seinen Status als Bürger Cadomyrs und somit auch sämtlichen Schutz, den ihm das Reich gewährte.
Nachdem er in der Vergangenheit sowohl Gäste Cadomyrs und sogar mich angriff und dafür zur Verwarnung in die Gefängnismine geschickt wurde, hat er erneut Unschuldige angegriffen und mit seinem Verhalten Schande über Cadomyr gebracht. Er hat in Galmair Clairette bedroht und seine Waffe gegen Cynthia und Trowin erhoben und beide verletzt. Außerdem drohte er damit in Moshrans Namen zu morden. Dieses Verhalten und diese offene Unterstützung des gefallenen Gottes sind nicht zu tolerieren und führen daher, in Verbindung mit seiner erst kürzlich abgegoltenen Strafe in der Gefängnismine zu seinem Ausschluss aus der Gesellschaft Cadomyrs. Sollte er trotz seiner Verbannung Cadomyr betreten, so ist er festzunehmen oder, sollte er sich der Festnahme erwehren, zu erschlagen.
Sollte Rashaz innerhalb der nächsten zwei Zwergenwochen glaubhaft darlegen können, dass er nicht für diese Verbrechen verantwortlich ist, so kann die Verbannung möglicherweise rückgängig gemacht oder in eine andere Strafe umgewandelt werden.
Lift of the ban against Bidukan
After Inara accepted Bidukan's apology for his wrongdoings and after also apologizing for disrespecting me in my role as a noble councilor of her Majesty Queen Rosaline Edwards, the ban against Bidukan will be lifted.
From the moment of the release of this parchment, Bidukan will be allowed to enter Cadomyr again. The conditions for the lift of his ban remain active, though:
  • Bidukan is no longer allowed to carry a weapon within the town. To prevent misunderstandings, this also applies to the bridge behind Horatio.
    This is obviously to ensure the safety of the Cadomyrian citizens. Should he be seen carrying a weapon against this condition, he will be banned for another dwarven day. For each violation of this condition afterwards, the period of the ban will double up. No discussion.
  • Bidukan will not threaten the life of a Cadomyrian citizen or guests within Cadomyr ever again.
    Even though, this should be obvious, it apparently is not.
  • Needless to say, but any violence against a Cadomyrian citizen or guests within Cadomyr will be met with an appropriate reaction.
Should he not meet these conditions, the ban will be put onto him yet again.
Aufhebung von Bidukans Bann
Nachdem Inara Bidukans Entschuldigung für sein Fehlverhalten akzeptiert hat und nachdem er sich auch dafür entschuldigt hat, dass er mich in meiner Rolle als adelige Ratgeberin ihrer Majestät Königin Rosaline Edwards nicht respektiert hat, wird der Bann gegen Bidukan aufgehoben.
Ab dem Moment der Veröffentlichung dieses Pergaments wird es Bidukan wieder erlaubt sein, Cadomyr zu betreten. Die Bedingungen für die Aufhebung seines Banns bleiben jedoch bestehen:
  • Bidukan darf innerhalb der Stadt keine Waffe mehr tragen. Dies gilt ebenso für die Brücke hinter Horatio.
    Dies dient der Sicherheit der cadomyrischen Bürger. Sollte er entgegen dieser Bedingung beim Tragen einer Waffe gesehen werden, wird er für einen weiteren Zwergen-Tag verbannt. Für jeden weiteren Verstoß gegen diese Bedingung verdoppelt sich die Dauer des Banns. Keine Diskussion.
  • Bidukan wird nie wieder das Leben eines cadomyrischen Bürgers oder eines Gastes in Cadomyr bedrohen.
    Obwohl dies offensichtlich sein sollte, ist es das offensichtlich nicht.
  • Unnötig zu sagen, aber jegliche Gewalt gegen einen cadomyrischen Bürger oder Gäste innerhalb Cadomyrs wird mit einer angemessenen Reaktion beantwortet werden.
Sollte er diese Bedingungen nicht erfüllen, wird der Bann erneut über ihn verhängt.
Cooperation Treaty // Kooperationsvertrag
Post by Herald of Cadomyr »
Cooperation Treaty
In recognition of the value of friendship and collaboration, Cadomyr and Galmair hereby enter into agreement to provide cooperative support.
Both parties, Cadomyr and Galmair, hereby assure military support for each other where needed.
Need is defined by:
A. One or more citizens of either realm being attacked by a non-citizen of either Cadomyr or Galmair.
B. A town or property under siege by enemies.
C. Request by an official of one realm for support in another, uncommon situation.
On receipt of request, the supporting realm is asked to send an appropriate number and calibre of armed citizens to aid the other realm.
This can be denied, if:
A. The supporting realm is under concurrent attack.
B. Any supporting action would be futile, leading to unnecessary loss of life.
Where supportive combat is deemed futile, the supporting realm has the responsibility to assistance in evacuation from the attacked realm to a place of refuge and provision of care, including but not limited to the supply of food and drink, treatment of wounds, and rearmament.
Both parties, Cadomyr and Galmair, hereby assure cultural cooperation.
Cultural cooperation involves mandatory invitations to community events, such as festivals, masses and so on. Events of internal groups can differ from this. Individuals banned from the hosting realm are excluded from this cooperation.
Both parties, Cadomyr and Galmair, hereby assure extradition of wanted individuals.
Excluded from this rule are:
A. The individual in question is a citizen of the realm that is asked for extradition. In this case, the realm responsible for the individual is to ensure a trial within a reasonable time-period.
B. The individual in question is wanted in both realms. However, if the business with one realm gets solved, they are then to be handed over.
C. The extradition can be denied, if there is a serious concern for the safety of the individual in question. The perspective officials of the realm asked for extradition are to decide whether the safety is guaranteed.
D. The individual in question requires medical help that make it risky or even impossible to move them. The extradition is only delayed in this case, though.
Once signed by both parties, this treaty lasts indefinite. If not for a special, unusual reason, the contract can only be revoked to the 1st Tanos each year and has to be revoked by a responsible realm official of either realm.
________________
Vertrag über Zusammenarbeit
In Anerkennung des Wertes von Freundschaft und Zusammenarbeit schließen Cadomyr und Galmair hiermit ein Abkommen zur kooperativen Unterstützung.
Beide Parteien, Cadomyr und Galmair, sichern sich hiermit gegenseitig militärische Unterstützung im Bedarfsfall zu.
Der Bedarf wird definiert durch:
A. Ein oder mehrere Bürger eines der beiden Reiche werden von einem Nicht-Bürger von Cadomyr oder Galmair angegriffen.
B. Ein Reich oder ein Anwesen eines Reiches werden von Feinden belagert.
C. Anfordern von Unterstützung durch einen Verantwortlichen eines Reiches der Bündnisses in einer anderen, ungewöhnlichen Situation.
Nach Erhalt der Anforderung entsendet das unterstützende Reich eine angemessene Stärke bewaffneter Bürger, um dem anderen Reich zu helfen.
Dies kann verweigert werden, wenn:
A. das unterstützende Reich gleichzeitig angegriffen wird.
B. jede unterstützende Aktion aussichtslos wäre und zu unnötigen Verlusten von Leben führen würde.
Wenn die Unterstützung als aussichtslos bewertet wird, ist das unterstützende Reich dafür verantwortlich, bei der Evakuierung aus dem angegriffenen Reich zu einem sicheren Zufluchtsort und bei der Versorgung zu helfen, einschließlich, aber nicht beschränkt auf die Versorgung mit Nahrung und Getränken, die Behandlung von Wunden und die Wiederbewaffnung.
Beide Parteien, Cadomyr und Galmair, sichern sich hiermit eine gegenseitige kulturelle Zusammenarbeit zu.
Die kulturelle Zusammenarbeit umfasst obligatorische Einladungen zu Gemeinschaftsveranstaltungen wie Festen, Messen und so weiter. Veranstaltungen interner Gruppen können hiervon abweichen. Personen, die aus dem gastgebenden Reich verbannt sind, sind von dieser Zusammenarbeit ausgeschlossen.
Beide Parteien, Cadomyr und Galmair, sichern hiermit die Auslieferung von gesuchten Personen zu.
Ausgenommen von dieser Regelung sind:
A. Die betreffende Person ist ein Bürger des Reiches, das um Auslieferung ersucht wird. In diesem Fall muss das Reich, das für die Person verantwortlich ist, ein Gerichtsverfahren innerhalb einer angemessenen Zeitspanne gewährleisten.
B. Die betreffende Person wird in beiden Reichen gesucht. Wenn jedoch die Angelegenheit mit einem der Reiche gelöst wird, ist sie auszuliefern.
C. Die Auslieferung kann verweigert werden, wenn ernsthafte Bedenken hinsichtlich der Sicherheit der betreffenden Person bestehen. Die jeweiligen Verantwortlichen des um Auslieferung ersuchten Reiches entscheiden, ob die Sicherheit gewährleistet ist.
D. Die betreffende Person benötigt medizinische Hilfe, die ihre Überführung riskant oder sogar unmöglich macht. In diesem Fall wird die Auslieferung jedoch nur verzögert.
Sobald der Vertrag von beiden Parteien unterzeichnet ist, gilt er auf unbestimmte Zeit. Wenn nicht ein besonderer, außergewöhnlicher Grund vorliegt, kann der Vertrag nur zum 1. Tanos eines jeden Jahres widerrufen werden und muss von einem zuständigen Reichsbeamten beider Reiche widerrufen werden.
Re: Announcements ~ Bekanntgaben
Post by Herald of Cadomyr »
Citizen of Cadomyr and elsewhere,
Another Mas has passed and this year, the dark days came without armies of undead, likely due to what is hopefully the final defeat of Jefferson Grey after last year's invasion. I am happy to announce that there have not been any reports of wounded, or worse, in Cadomyr. That, we must be grateful for.
However, and you all will know that by now, Mas brought a lot of tensions between Cadomyr and the Runewickian Rangers. A group of Runewickians came to Cadomyr, eager to help in what they thought was a threatening situation and I would like to take this chance to thank them for their concern despite the current tensions. Sadly, things got out of hands from both sides, it would be foolish to not admit mistakes made on Cadomyrian side, and tempers got heated quite a lot. Let it be known that no Runewickian will face consequences for coming to Cadomyr that day, as I believe with some distance to what happened, that the initial idea was good natured. Nobody will deny that drawn weapons directed against 'allies' can hardly be seen as an offer for help, though. In their defense, they put down their weapons, once I asked them to do. It will not go unnoticed or unpunished, though, that Runewickian Rangers overstepped their area of responsibility by quite a lot, when they disrespected my word as the only current noble beneath her Majesty. My assurance that things were alright and nothing was to be worried about, was met with untenable accusations, where my word alone should have been enough on Cadomyrian ground, as her Majesty put me into a position that grants me the power to make decisions. The decision to not slay the loyal knight Acerd of Cadomyr nor the man known as Reace, was rightful and according to Cadomyrian law. It is not the task of Runewickian Rangers to question or even challenge this decision on Cadomyrian ground, as much as my word would not challenge Runewickian laws on Runewickian ground. The fact that it was Mas does not change these laws in Cadomyr, the Rangers may or may not have rightfully proclaimed the martial law for Runewick, but it does not and never will apply to Cadomyrian soil. The reason behind the refusal of the Runewickian guests remains a secret, but their ignorance of both the local hierarchy and to the fact that they had absolutely none power on Cadomyrian ground, remains as inexplicable as it is unacceptable.
The Rangers as a whole hereby receive a ban of four dwarven months for overstepping their area of responsibility, disrespecting me and my word as a Countess of Cadomyr, as well as questioning the hierarchy of her Majesty Queen Rosaline Edwards. Furthermore, for threatening the well-being of a Cadomyrian knight.
After the first confrontation, the rangers and probationary councilors Drathe Blue and Caswir Drakuhl took a few steps back to discuss their next steps quietly. Unfortunately for them, and inexplicable to me, they did so right next to the loyal Jeremiah Horanfeld, who overheard their conversation, his report is attached.
I, Jeremiah Horanfeld, master of the cistern in Cadomyr, hereby swear in the name of her Majesty Queen Rosaline Edwards, that the following report is the truth. The conversation I overheard happened, when the Runewickian rangers came to Cadomyr at the 1st Mas 64, in order to investigate the matter of two individuals they claimed to be demonic entities.
After Countess Katharina Brightrim refused to step aside between the Runewickian guests and the individuals they were after, one of which being a Cadomyrian knight, the Runewickian Rangers came over to me, to discuss their next steps. I overheard their conversation and am hereby reporting to her Majesty and the Countess what was said, as it is of high concern for the Cadomyrian safety and sovereignity.
At the beginning of the discussion, the blonde, addressed as Bidukan by the Countess, inquired whether the pale elf, addressed as Avaroth by the Countess, was completely sure that they were dealing with demonic creatures, which the elf confirmed. Another man and former Cadomyrian, Orion Lysander, pointed out how they could not take the two individuals in question without a fight. Bidukan stated that the fight would not be a problem, but the consequences would be severe and for this, he pushed a peaceful solution. Regardless, Orion pointed out how, if there was a fight, nobody should kill the Countess, as that would be a "diplomatic disaster". There was no word about sparing the other people accompanying the Countess at this time, Knight Aleytys Lamar, Inara, Acerd and the foreigner man called Reace, which is why I assume that he was comfortable with the idea of killing everybody but the Countess. Again, the blonde man told them to not push too hard and to not resort to violence. Apparently reluctant, the others agreed. Orion pointed out to not kill the Countess, if there was in fact a fight. Meanwhile, probational councilor Drathe Blue expressed his disappointment in the peaceful solution to the conflict.
The end of the conflict is known to everybody reading this, the Countess assured that the two individuals in question were no danger to anybody. So far, nothing bad has happened in relation to these people.
Avaroth receives an additional ban of one dwarven month for insulting me, defaming and wrongfully accusing me of harboring demonic entities, and repeatedly and intentionally not addressing me with the proper title, ignoring any instruction to the contrary, thus showing his proof of disrespect and disregard for the Cadomyrian hierarchy of her Majesty. He also expressed to entertain the idea of resorting to violence against citizen of Cadomyr and myself. While the actual use of violence, especially against a noble, would have lead to a way more severe punishment, the conspiracy to violence, already proves sufficient to justify consequences. The comparatively short ban duration can be explained with his support regarding the demonic artifact in front of Cadomyr a few days after this incident, which has been taken into account for leniency.
Bidukan receives an additional ban of one dwarven month for defaming Cadomyrian knights (namely Aleytys Lamar and Amanda Brightrim), baselessly accusing a Cadomyrian knight (namely Aleytys Lamar) of shameful and dishonorable actions and for actively trying to create a rift between Cadomyr and Runewick. Claiming that the realm of Cadomyr is falsely tainting his name in public and for disrespecting me and thus the hierarchy given by her Majesty. The comparatively mild punishment is a result of his efforts to keep things peaceful, convincing his fellow rangers to not turn violent against us in order to seize Reace and Acerd and his support when analyzing the demonic artifact in front of Cadomyr a few days after this incident.
Orion Lysander receives an additional ban of three dwarven months for actively pushing the idea of turning violent against Cadomyrian citizen and me, even considering to actually kill everybody but me (according to him, because murdering me would be a diplomatic disaster). In a group of people who conspired to violence, he was the most eager.
Drathe Blue receives an additional ban of two dwarven weeks for expressing his disappointment of discarding the idea of a violent attack.
These bans are put in place with immediate effect and only against those individuals who openly considered to use violence against Cadomyrian citizen. It is not a conflict between Cadomyr and Runewick as a whole, those who are not accused of wrong-doings were and will always be welcome in Cadomyr. However, people who conspire to assault Cadomyrian citizen and even a Cadomyrian noble, will not be met with kindness.
It would be against my belief to not grant a chance to solve this whole conflict peacefully. That said, each of the banned is invited to come and visit me in Cadomyr in order to talk about their ban. For this very reason, they are allowed to enter the town. Should they be found entering the town for any other reason, they will be expelled and Horatio will be instructed to not let them pass again. I am willing to negotiate about the punishments, however, keep in mind that the conspiracy to resort to violence will not go unpunished.
May the diplomatic bounds between Cadomyr and Runewick recover from this conflict, even if the person in charge of diplomatic contact on Runewick's side refused to do anything to soothe the conflict.
Keep in mind that this is a board for official announcements, and thus, parchments pinned beneath this one, on the official board of Cadomyr, will be removed without further note.
Official Knighting!
Citizen of Cadomyr,
with the beginning of the new year, after we made it through the Dark Days of Mas, there will be a big ceremony witnessed by her Majesty. Every citizen who have proven themselves worthy can step forwards and be officially knighted. You must have made yourself a name in the realm ((Rank 7 in Cadomyr)). Additionally, you must have served the realm and its citizen and proven your loyalty to her Majesty. Those who find their worth outside the battlefields, may also step forwards, if they served the realm faithfully in another way. Those who wish to witness the ceremony are invited to join at the palace. Citizen who do not qualify do not need to fret, there are plans to hold annual knightings every Malas from year 66 onwards.
This is but the first of some changes for the coming year. The exact date will be announced soon!
Please contact me personally or in a letter, if you think you qualify for the title and be knighted in an official ceremony in Elos!
__________
Offizieller Ritterschlag
Bürger Cadomyrs,
mit dem Beginn des Neuen Jahres, nachdem wir die dunklen Tage des Mas überstanden haben, wird eine große Zeremonie vor Ihr Majestät der Königin stattfinden. Jeder Bürger, der sich als würdig erwiesen hat oder erweist, kann vortreten und sich offiziell zum Ritter schlagen lassen. Ihr müsst euch dafür allerdings im Reich einen Namen gemacht haben ((Rang 7 in Cadomyr)). Außerdem müsst ihr dem Reich gedient haben und eure Loyalität zur Königin unter Beweis gestellt haben. Jene, die ihre Berufung abseits des Schlachtfelds sehen, können ebenfalls vortreten, wenn sie sich als treu gegenüber dem Reich erwiesen haben. Jene, die der Zeremonie als Zeuge beiwohnen wollen, sind eingeladen, ebenfalls in den Palast zu kommen.
Bürger, die sich noch nicht als würdig erwiesen haben, müssen sich keine Sorgen machen, ab dem Jahr 66 wird es eine jährliche Ritterschlagszeremonie im Malas geben.
Dies ist nur der erste von einigen Veränderungen für das kommende Jahr. Das genaue Datum wird noch bekannt gegeben!
Bitte meldet euch bei mir, persönlich oder per Brief, falls ihr denkt, dass ihr für diesen Titel qualifiziert seid und werdet bereits im Elos in einer offiziellen Zeremonie zum Ritter geschlagen!
Knighting Ceremony
Citizen of Cadomyr,
After the lack of fitting candidates, I am proud to announce that a citizen has achieved the qualification to join the Knight Court. Therefore, I ask every available citizen to gather at 20th Findos around the 4th hours after noon at the palace, where Inara Validris will give the oath to serve the realm as a member of the Knight Court and receive the knighting by my hand, with her Majesty as a witness. Afterwards, we will head to the tavern to celebrate the new addition to the Knight Court.
__________
Ritterschlagszeremonie
Bürger Cadomyrs,
Nachdem es in den letzten Jahren an möglichen Kandidaten mangelte, freut es mich umso mehr anzukündigen, dass eine Bürgerin die Eignung zum Rat der Ritter erlangt hat. Daher bitte ich alle Bürger am 20. Findos zur 4. Stunde nach Mittag am Palast zusammenzukommen, wo Inara Validris ihren Eid leisten und den Ritterschlag durch meine Hand empfangen wird. Ihre Majestät wird der Zermonie wie gewohnt beiwohnen. Anschließend sind alle eingeladen, die neue Ergänzung zum Rat in der Taverne zu feiern.
May Cadomyr forever prosper,
Re: Announcements ~ Bekanntgaben
New ambassador to Runewick
It is time to leave the times of mutual distrust and political tensions with Runewick behind us. For this reason, I am happy to announce that Dame Aleytys Lamar will - with immediate effect - become the Cadomyrian ambassador to Runewick, in order to repair bonds and create a better, friendlier and especially safer future for both realms. Councilor Aswe has already been briefed about this and I trust that Aly will soon introduce herself officially in her new role.
I think this is a good chance to move on after difficult and tense times, caused by people who did not have the good of either realm in mind, but only their own. Recent events make me confident that a friendly future is indeed possible, despite the issues in the past.
Neue Botschafterin für Runewick
Es ist an der Zeit, die Zeiten des gegenseitigen Misstrauens und der politischen Spannungen mit Runewick hinter uns zu lassen. Aus diesem Grund freue ich mich, ankündigen zu können, dass Dame Aleytys Lamar mit sofortiger Wirkung die cadomyrische Botschafterin in Runewick wird, um die Beziehungen zu reparieren und eine bessere, freundlichere und vor allem sicherere Zukunft für beide Reiche zu schaffen. Rätin Aswe wurde bereits darüber unterrichtet, und ich gehe davon aus, dass Aly sich bald offiziell in ihrer neuen Rolle vorstellen wird.
Ich denke, dass dies eine gute Gelegenheit ist, nach schwierigen und angespannten Zeiten, die von Leuten verursacht wurden, die nicht das Wohl beider Reiche im Sinn hatten, sondern nur ihr eigenes, neu anzufangen. Die jüngsten Ereignisse stimmen mich zuversichtlich, dass trotz der Probleme in der Vergangenheit eine freundschaftliche Zukunft möglich ist.
May Cadomyr forever prosper,
Reaction to the 'trial' in Runewick
Citizen of Cadomyr, friends and allies from Galmair.
It fills me with great sadness to write this announcement. Today, we became witness of the flawed Runewickian system of justice. Let me share my thoughts on this so-called trial, before I announce our reaction to it:
1. The trial
It baffles me, how the Runewickian hold trials in their realm. Not a single victim got to speak in front of the judges. Not even a single word. Our voices apparently do not seem to matter in the matter of our lives. Thus, countless lies and wrong claims remained unanswered. Instead of actually giving the victims a voice, a medico was asked on her opinion about another attacker, who, of course, testified for the accused. There were three hours ((IG-hours)) in which the accused was not even mentioned once. As leading judge, Caswir had absolutely no control over the trial and let it derail into meaningless details, rather than actually giving the word to the victims. Instead of scheduling another trial to give more people a voice, the judges decided to just disregard our replies and come to a verdict that can only be called ridiculous. A group of people - of which two others even showed up for the trial without being prosecuted as well - got away with the attempted murder on four people with a laughable fine of 100 gold coins. This trial was postponed for four years and had to end in a single day now? I can only repeat that this is ridiculous. Runewick is supposed to be the realm of wisdom, yet they presented themselves today as a realm, to which a person's life is worth 25 gold coins on average.
2. The verdict
As written above, Orion Lysander, as one of four aggressors in an unprovoked attempt on our lives, received a fine of 100 gold coins. Councilor Caswir previously offered me 200 gold coins for a single piece of armor. Just to show how much our lives mean to the Runewickian Academic Council in relation to a piece of clothing. Despite quoting their own constitution over and over, they apparently fail to be consequent when it becomes inconvenient for them. Let me cite from their very own, so praised, constitution:
Dispensing justice is up to the Academic Council. (-Constitution of Runewick, Third regulation,IV;A)
Guard Captain Malchus is not part of the Academic Council and thus he had no place in the judgement. His task, as regulated by the constitution, is to ensure that the law is upheld in Runewick, not to deal with cases in which it was not. I would have mentioned this, if we would have had a chance to speak on our own behalf.
If the condemned person is considered to be at risk, he must be banished. Physical punishment is only permissible for serious violent crimes. (-Constitution of Runewick, Third regulation,IV;F)
Orion clearly showed not a single sign of remorse. Not even for the one crime he was actually punished for, the chasing of Inara "in self-defense". We all know and love these cases in which we hunt someone through a whole town and then mock them after we have successfully slain them. If this does not qualify as a "serious violent crime", Runewickians must possess a wisdom that I have not yet gained. The clear lack of remorse also suggests that Orion still poses a threat. Not even with a single word did he apologize for the attempt on Inara's life, to just stick to the one crime he was actually punished for. The Runewickian judges highlighted the importance of their constitution, but it is apparently a worthless piece of parchment that could potentially serve a brief purpose if it was burned as a source of warmth for about five minutes. I sincerely feel sorry for the poor pig that had to give its life and its skin for such a meaningless declaration.
3. The meaning of the verdict
If you choose to not believe either side of a conflict, you automatically render at least one side a liar. Doubting our words in favor of your citizen is your good right, and I could actually sympathize with the decision. If it was not for the case at hand. There were friendly bonds between the people who were attacked and the Runewickian judges, at least some of them. We have fought side-by-side, we have stood through great dangers together. Yet, the Runewickian Council decided that our words were as valuable as the words of someone who showed aggression-issues before. The Runewickian Council has decided that we are liars. Because judging that there is no proof but our word means exactly that. I do not have to point out that, back when this happened, none of the aggressors claimed that they were in fact attacked. Knowing about their guilt, they all made for it. Innocent people do not flee in panic. This is another thing I would have pointed out, if I got the chance to actually reply to what Orion claimed. The Runewickian Council refused me this opportunity and were apparently not able to see it themselves. Why were only Cadomyrian citizen injured, if we attacked first? Another question I would have liked to ask, that will instead go unanswered now. The story Orion presented does not add up at all and neither of the 'judges' seemed to be able to tear this inconsistent mess of a testimony apart. I once more highlight that they pride themselves as the realm of Wisdom.
4. A terrible precedence
I cannot answer whether it is malicious or just, once more, not really wise, but the attack on four Cadomyrians, one of which a noble, was punished with 100 gold coins. As stated above, that is an average of 25 gold coins per attempted murder. With this, the Runewickian Council sets a concerning precedence. "You can slay Cadomyrians as long as you don't do it in front of our eyes. Word-against-word will be decided to your favor - >>In doubt, we decide for the accused<<". This means that any Runewickian can ambush any of us now and then claim that they were attacked first. And they will always get away with it. This is another thing I would have liked to address at the trial, but was yet again denied. You have heard two voices that spoke for the accused and one neutral-ish voice, which was asked about fairly unrelated questions. Is this a fair trial in which every point of view is considered and weighted against each other? Laughable.
Consequences
  • Cadomyr withdraws ambassador Aleytys Lamar immediately. A Council that views her, and other high-ranked citizen of the realm she represents, as liars is not a reliable partner for diplomacy. We have lost all faith in any good will on the Runewickian side, even worse, we have lost faith that our lives matter to the Runewickians. Former Councilor Deanna called the whole trial "entertaining". A trial that was set up because someone tried to kill us. We are happy that you find entertainment in our injuries.
  • Cadomyr reintroduces fees on the use of our tools. Effective immediately and indefinitely. A realm that ignores violent attacks on our lives shall not prosper from our resources.
  • Related to this, Cadomyr sets up an embargo on Runewickian products. Cadomyrians are not to trade with Runewickians anymore. That counts especially, but not exclusively for military goods and gems. Do not provide those who long for our lives with the tools to do so more efficiently. Cadomyrians caught trading with a Runewickian will be punished according to the wares they provide.
  • Furthermore, all Runewickian citizen are declared unwelcome on Cadomyrian soil. 'Unwelcome' means that they are to be asked to leave WITHOUT violence. In Cadomyr, we value hospitality towards those who behave. However, due to the precedence the Academic Council set, any Runewickian could potentially raise their weapons against any of us now without having to fear a punishment. Note that 'unwelcome' does not mean 'banned'. Aside of the criminals, who received their bans from Cadomyr already, Runewickians are not strictly forbidden to enter the realm.
  • In our view, the victims, who were not allowed to speak, we do not accept that slap on the wrist for Orion. Without any sign of remorse and even apparent pride in his actions, the Kill-on-sight order will remain in place. Shall Cherga be his judge and shall her mercy cleanse him of his guilt, if she deems him worthy of it.
  • We will soon research the teleporter-magic. If magically possible, we will cut the connection between our realms as to ensure that no Cadomyrian blood is spilled again by a Runewickian blade.
These consequences are not only bound to the fact that the punishment for the severity of crime was ridiculous, but also because we will not accept the humiliation and slander of our names by the Runewickians. By judging as you did, you called us liars and you showed that our lives aren't protect-worthy in your eyes. We feel betrayed by you. Your decision has not only accepted the attack on our lives, it has mocked our rightful outrage over the violence we experienced. By judging that the words of our attacker(s) are as valuable as ours and by not even allowing us to respond to the accusations brought up against us, you have basically signed that you are in agreement with this treatment. With great sadness and disbelief, we had to realize, that we are indeed neither friends nor allies and that you do not care about the injuries we suffered. No longer will we accept this ignorance. The times in which we put the indifference to threats against our lives aside are over, our realms shall go their own, different paths without cooperation and comradery. The friendship that has at least partly connected our realms was forfeit the moment you chose to not even hear us. Now deal with the new world your actions have brought upon us all, as will we. If it brings you peace, harbor all the dangerous and criminal individuals you like. Become friends with those who made attempts on the lives of your friends and comrades. But do it on your own and do it anywhere but on Cadomyrian ground.
May Cadomyr forever prosper and may the gods be with you, Runewick.
Adjustments to the recent statement
Post by Herald of Cadomyr »
Citizen of Cadomyr, friends and allies from Galmair.
After consultation with the Knight Court of Cadomyr, I decided to clarify some apparent flaws in the wording of my first announcement regarding our future Runewick politic:
Herald of Cadomyr wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 1:54 am
  • Furthermore, all Runewickian citizen are declared unwelcome on Cadomyrian soil. 'Unwelcome' means that they are to be asked to leave WITHOUT violence. In Cadomyr, we value hospitality towards those who behave. However, due to the precedence the Academic Council set, any Runewickian could potentially raise their weapons against any of us now without having to fear a punishment. Note that 'unwelcome' does not mean 'banned'. Aside of the criminals, who received their bans from Cadomyr already, Runewickians are not strictly forbidden to enter the realm.
I agree that this was, in its initial wording, unclear and not precise enough. Thus, I want to elaborate and clarify it:
  • Most importantly: Runewick and its citizens are not our enemies - except those who committed crimes against us (No matter whether Runewickians authorities judge them as such)
  • Runewickian citizen are free to enter and leave Cadomyr, as long as they behave in a respectful and peaceful manner. Trade, especially of military goods, remains prohibited, to not arm potential aggressors.
  • Spontaneous aid of Runewickians in emergency situations - be it medically or military - is not prohibited. Should anyone encounter a Runewickian in dire need of assistance against a common foe, it is only right to offer said assistance.
Additional to this clarification, I also want to announce related decisions, as a result of the most recent Knight Court meeting:
  • Runewickian citizen are hereby prohibited from openly carrying any sort of weapon inside of Cadomyr. This includes visible sheathed weapons on belt or back. Knowing of the dangers outside the town walls, guests can carry weapons inside their bags.
  • Every member of the Knight Court, the Noble Court and - obviously - the Royal Court, is entitled to search individuals who wear concealing clothes, such as robes or cloaks.
  • Runewickians who refuse to put their weapons away - into the depot or bag, out of reach - are to be removed from the town or reported if a removal without violence appears to be impossible.
  • Organized military support for the town or realm of Runewick in times of need, such as Mas, requires a formal request by the Runewickian Council. Armed Cadomyrians shall not move towards Runewick unrequested to not feed slanderous narratives of aggression against them.
After being visited by Councilor Aswe from Runewick soon after the first announcement, I also feel the need to clarify a few things. These measurements are the direct reaction to years of ignorance and belittling of crimes against us. Of course, you can never assure that none of your citizens will not do something stupid, and we are not blaming you for that. We do blame you for the frequency in which this happens: Individuals who were prosecuted in Cadomyr or Galmair find warm acceptance in Runewick and then, protected by their status as Runewickian citizens, gather other Runewickians around them and commit more crimes, without - as in this case - facing internal consequences. It is a repeating pattern and we refuse to continue with it. The introduced measurements are not a punishment against Runewick or its citizen, they exist in order to protect us. Also, since Councilor Aswe appeared to be under the false impression that this is just a bad mood-phase, I reaffirm our stance on the matter, with over two months of emotional distance to the trial. This is a decision based on consideration, not on emotions.
I sincerely advise Runewick and especially those who confuse a step back from a conflict - in order to avoid more bloodshed - with aggression, to give it some consideration as well, and maybe we will one day find ourselves on the same page of history again.
May Cadomyr forever prosper
