Explanation to the columns in front of Runewick

As most of you may already know, the dark columns in front of our beloved town and academy are fully grown now. During a ritual at the 16th of Chos we let them grow and transformed them. The transformation effect causes a drag of mana-energy from their original source, the unholy forces under mount Letma. This drag of mana-energy weakens the unholy power under mount Letma in every moment it exists. Still the columns are a great danger which has to be dealt with very careful. The portals around the columns are able to summon powerful undead creatures. Furthermore can the high amount of fluctuating mana-energy causing random magic effects around the columns example given but not limited to appearing flames, thunder strikes, visions or illusions, fast growing plants and appearing of dangerous or harmless creatures from other planes. These effects happen especially if powerful mages stay close to the columns, a well-trained and experienced mage is a catalyser for these effects. So I ask every mage not to dwell close to the columns until further notice.

Furthermore I want to thank everyone who helped to cast, assist or protect the ritual. People from all tree realms attended to bring this ritual to success and weaken the unholy power under mount Letma. My special thanks are for the five brave young mages of the Runewicks mage class Marka Flimmastein, Tarias Faelivrin, Mirai Belisai, Anzula Grimler and Lirielle. Furthermore Runewick as well as the holy Order of the Bearers of Fire acknowledge the contributions of both noble houses of Cadomyr and the new formed Order of the Silver Griffons from Cadomyr to protect the Ritual which transformed the recently appeared columns into an dangerous artefact to weaken Cadomyrs primary threat mount Letma.

In both the names of the Town and Academy of Runewick and the holy Order of the Bearers of Fire,

Re: Erläuterung / Explanation

It has been a full two months and Mas since this project went underway. So far, the results have proved to be inconclusive and even negative. Portals still litter the farm fields making them unsafe to be tended. Walking past these columns gives myself and other mages headaches. The energy surrounding the portals feels like sludge.

Furthermore, it seems the experiment was a failure. The intent may have been to pull mana from Letma, but it clearly has not weakened it. Four pillars sit in front of Cadomyr with 'J' and 'G' written upon them. Pillars in which Grey himself resurrected from the dead. That alone takes considerable power. If anything, I think Letma has since overloaded your pillars. Now scrawled upon their surface are the letters 'D', 'H, 'A', 'L'.

Since this experiment has quite possibly failed, perhaps it is time to reconsider our course of action. The actual closing of portals and removal of pillars seems to have worked well for other towns in the past. Although this has caused other pillars to form elsewhere, the act of doing so appears to have weakened the forces of Letma significantly. It would be prudent for us to consider working with our allies and remove the pillars from our lands. Even more so, we should not stop until all visible pillars and their subsequent portals across Illarion have been removed. If these do indeed power Letma and my theory is correct, then the forces of Letma will be significantly weakened by it.

Re: Erläuterung / Explanation

Your observations are incorrect. First of all our careful explorations and expedition had proven that the columns clearly weaken Letma. I assume you just have absolute no imagination of the dimension we are speaking about. The power under the mountain have saved an gigantic amount off manaenergy and it could take years to weaken Letma so much that it will have an more visible effect. That a mage can’t have a silent rest in the farming fields next to the columns is the price we have to pay to weaken that enemy, but since we have nice study-rooms and beds inside the town I assume we can live with that.

Furthermore it is nothing more but speculation, that the new columns in front of cadomyr have any connections with Letma. In opposite the time and circumstances give us hints, that it was the uncalled himself who brought him back to us. Just because our different enemy have a liking for dark columns not every dark columns have the same source.

Removing the pillars will not just stop weaken Letma but also bring them to another town. Runewick will never harm others to protect itself, such selfish and short sight behaviour will not happen.

Re: Erläuterung / Explanation

No imagination? No imagination as to the exorberant amount of mana a demon that has hidden itself away from us for centuries, no eons, could have stored? A demon who has quietly bided its time in a mana dead zone, hiding itself away from others. Of course I can not fathom how much mana has been stored away. Can you? Can you imagine how many years it will take for this to visibly weaken Letma? Ten? Twenty? One hundred?

Will we spend one hundred years fighting back the forces of Letma until our columns have weakened them significantly? Will we spend one hundred years selfishly hiding in our study rooms until the citizens of Cadomyr or Galmair manage to solve the problem for us? Will we spend one hundred years ignoring the likes of Grey who is quite well known as a servant of the demon? But why does it matter? For in a hundred years, we will both be dead and it will no longer be our problem.

Thank you for your hasty response,

Re: Erläuterung / Explanation

How do you think that we just sit in our rooms and wait for the problem to solve itself? It seems to me you have not the slightest idea what we have already tried, and by that I mean all the towns, and what we already have gathered together with information.
I understand that you finally want an end to this war. We all want that. But it seems to me, you imagine that too easy.

Nevertheless, you are welcome to suggest ideas on how we could solve this problem. Maybe you come up with something we have not tried yet.

May Findari protect your Paths.

Re: Erläuterung / Explanation

Information that has been horded away and kept from others, under the guise of only giving it to those whom you can trust. At least Cadomyr makes their information public. Galmair will gladly discuss with those who ask. And you can not refute that we will simply wait the problem out. The Dean himself stated as much. That we will play the long game and wait for the pillars to pull mana from Letma.

Very well. You wish for me to provide an alternative suggestion. Then I shall do my own research and report back.

Re: Erläuterung / Explanation

If you accuse us to hold any information back i would like to know which information that may be?. Otherwise i ask you to stop that false accuses. Furthermore patience is a virtue if you fight such an enemy, but anyway i neither expect that it will take centuries nor is that the only way we fight the enemy in Letma. On one hand we are supporting the Plan Blue of Cadomyr, on the other hand we host the dragon known as Erdhal. I’m indeed open for other suggestions concerning Letma, which still respect Cadomyrs sovereignty.

Re: Erläuterung / Explanation

Perhaps then you would be able to answer the following questions in detail:

If the current pillars outside of Cadomyr, the ones upon which Grey resurrected, do not belong to the demon, does this mean that we face a second, greater threat?

What evidence is there that the pillars in front of the towns have simply moved and are not in fact new creations?

What evidence do you have that collapsing the tunnels within Mount Letma, as proposed by Plan Blau, (also why is it Blau and not Blue), will close an interdimensional portal?

Furthermore, when the pillars in front of Galmair were destroyed nearly one year ago, the pillars suddenly appeared in front of Cadomyr. When those same pillars, which were nearly double the amount that existed in front of Galmair, were destroyed, why did only half that amount appear in front of Runewick and why did they not immediately appear as full pillars?

Why have the pillars first appeared in front of Galmair and Cadomyr instead of Runewick? Cadomyr exists in a mana dead zone, which is why the interdimensional portal is hidden deep in Letma, where no mage would ever wish to look. Galmair at least can be considered normal in terms of surrounding mana. Runewick on the other hand, is the center for all magical learning. Why would the demon wait til now to draw mana from Runewick?

Why are there pillars surrounding the temple of Sirani? Is there some unknown power we do not know of? Or is she feeding off of the divine energy in the area? Why has the demon not targeted the outlying temple of Malachin or even Oldra as well?

If the portals surrounding the pillars are connected to this interdimensional portal, why have we not made the attempt to reverse them and enter them instead? Would this not bring us to the wellspring inside Letma?

Investigation by one Chirch of Cadomyr concluded that the Dragon Erdhal had been held underground by the demon for many years. There he observed the movements of the undead and could feel the demons presence. If the demon could command many more undead, but instead chooses to distract us with meager forces, then why does it do so? If the demon could summon legions of undead and decimate us, why does it not do so? Could distracting us and creating strife between the towns be its goal instead so that we do not meddle in its affairs?

Why are pieces of the demons full name, Preacerdhal, appearing on pillars across Illarion? Prea, Acerd, Dhal. We have confirmed that these names exist, after all it was Prea who was found under Galmair and warped the minds of the kings. Acerd is a knight in Cadomyr, though it seems he is quite innocent of any dealing with the demon. And dhal, which I can only assume is part of the name Erdhal, is both the name of your dragon and an insane warlock that roams the wilds of Illarion. One who I have only met twice, but clearly does the deeds of the blood god if not the demon. Why are these names along with the knight Caine of Cadomyr, whose name in no way fits into the demons, the only names to appear upon the pillars? Surely this has an actual meaning and not just coincidence.

The demon is intent on targeting mages. As Runewick’s citizenship is primarily mages, what steps have been taken to ensure the safety of Runewick and its citizens in these matters?

What tasks and assistance are currently required to bring this threat to an end? What current of plan of action is being devised? What has been done in the past two months since the pillars appearance to fight this dark, unforeseen force?

Also, why is Ruuari still a citizen despite her current association with Jefferson Grey?

Re: Erläuterung / Explanation

As already mentioned we respect Cadomyrs sovereignty. Speculating further about Letma, the mentioned pillars in front of Cadomyr, these around the Sirani temple or the plans to destroy them would disrespect Cadomysrs sovereignty.

Concerning the Pillars in front of Runewick. They stopped growing first because we made a ritual to freeze the process till we prepared the ritual to change them.

Your speculation about the Cadomyrs mana level is wrong, it is no mana dead zone, just look how many dogs, bugs, palms and cactus are there – all that wouldn't exists in a mana dead zone. Furthermore it is a foolish misbeliefe that Runewick would have an higher mana level just because we are a center of magil learning. Also there is nothing like an “interdimensional” portal. It exists two kind of portals: inside our plane and between different planes. Such thinks like dimensions are charlatanry.

While I will not be part of wild speculations basing on letters on columns created by dark sources I want to underline that Erdhal is Runewicks guest. He is not “our”, neither is he a citizen nor is he bound to us. He have the same rights and duties like any other guest of our Town.

Your information about Runewicks demography is also wrong. We are not primary mages. Furthermore except from long term stays next to the four columns we have no reports from any citizen of being influenced by a demon or similar in Runewick. It is well known that Cadomyr isn't safe currently, especially outside the walls and especially for mages. If anyone seek these dangers anyway Runewick cant and wont guarantee your safety.

Since the current level of threat against Runewick is manageable there will be no further actions. Runewick sees the Realm of Cadomyr as his friends and encourage any citizens to support them against their current threats. But please consider that Runewick and Cadomyr are not allied nor did Cadomyr requested official help from Runewick. Furthermore are Runewick a town of free people, we would never order our citizens to take part in a fight against a threat in another realm. The only moment Runewick would order its citizens into any kind of fight would be in case of a direct attack on Runewick. Our standing forces the Rangers and Townguard are small and more important just for defense propose only. The council have no legitimization to send them to missions outside of Runewick.

To answer your last question: We are a nation of law. If you have reasonable suspicions against a citizens you can formal accuse this citizens. We will collect proofs and will have a trial, but I will not expel any citizen cause of rumors and gossip.

What evidence do you have that collapsing the tunnels within Mount Letma, as proposed by Plan Blau, (also why is it Blau and not Blue), will close an interdimensional portal?
The primary intent of Plan Blau is to decimate the armount of undead forces garrisoned in the caverns under Letma by the enemy. This is clearly stated in its publicaton. However, the mentioned portal does have a physical frame, which certainly is not there for show. Destroying this frame, or at least flooding it with lava to be cooled off, should either destroy or block the portal. Also, Plan Blau is called so for the same reason as "Ravenskaya" is not called "von Rabenfeld". It is a name.

The House of the Sea Serpent had expected better research, considering the previous work done for the House by Ravenskaya.

Mana Streams
Evie Pryler
Pg 3
At points where at least three mana lines intersect, we find a mana knot or cross. These crosses are made of three to five large mana lines . . .

Pg 4
A cross of mana improvement is a place, where magic and spells seem to randomly improve. Generally speaking, magic academies are erected at these locations, because these areas facilitate the teaching of magic.

Pg 5
Mana vortexes are places where mana is diminished or non-existent.

Pg 6
Mana vacuums are the fifth type of vortex and easily the most recognizable. These areas are almost totally devoid of mana and marked by wasteland. Life in these areas is very hard. Generally speaking, all deserts are mana vacuums
Letma’s Secret
Viktor Borislavov Rusev
Pg 3
The precise spot for the joining of the two planes was a matter Preacerdhal studied for two decades . . . The spot had to have two features: it must be out of the way of sight for mortal eyes and be in a weaker place of arcane magic so that his demonic magic could break through, take over and forge the link.

Pg 4
His chosen location, the bowels of a mountainous area was ideal. The mountain towered above the desert sands muffling most of the noise and hiding the preciously delicate plane portal that was being forged far below.

Pg 5
The only clear thing is the location being in Illarion, in the Kantabi desert beneath the mountain now called Letma.

Re: Erläuterung / Explanation

I m very aware of these books you quoted, but if you believe everything just because someone wrote it in a book you have much to learn young scholar. While miss Prylers book is well written and mostly correct you need more context to understand it fully. I propose you to attend at magic classes. Concerning this book about Letma, I don’t even know who Mister Rusev is and it is very possible that this book was written under the influence of the enemy so we should be very careful with this informations.

Djironnyma,

I appreciate the invite to your magic classes, however, first, they must be actually held at a convenient time for others. Since they are not I have had to attend the occasional ones held in Galmair and self-study. Perhaps if you were to provide a transcript of your lectures for those unfortunate Runewick souls who can not attend, but do still wish to learn, it would help greatly.

It is a well known fact that Ruaari was present during the attack on the inn at the new year's feast. It was reported in the dagbladden, and anumber of witnesses can confirm it.
