Cooking Plates.

I know usually there are at least two NPC vendors that sell most items. Usually ,especially the more commonly used ones. My question is cooking plates, the ones of apple wood. The only place I find selling them is the tavern of the Fluffy Sheep for 10 coppers each. There is no way a cook could afford to pay that and sell a meal. I do use the option of buying in game from a player or just making my own plates. However people are not always available to craft plates, because they do not learn from it after awhile; and its very time consuming when a carpenter can make other things and earn more coin.

I found another vendor in Vanima selling plates, Dehster. These were the copper ones ((green plates)) and were only five copper; however these can not be used for plate meals. My question is.. why would someone selling cooking supplies, sell a plate that can not be used? Was this intended so people would seek out carpenters? Mainly this is just a curiosity, not looking for a fix, it just puzzles me.

moved as this is not an actually support topic sort of thing.

The prices were set long ago, they won't (and can't) be changed until the VBU. As to the 'why' probably because the green plates existed long before food dishes did. I'm guessing that when dishes were implemented along with the diet system, someone simply made a new plate graphic for the time and coded that. We've got plenty of plates, cups and utensils and various other items that are purely for aesthetic purposes. Green plate is one of them

p.s. Who here has actually seen a Quill?

Yup. Also seen the lockpicks and ink bottle. I may have a play orc somewhere :P :O

Also why do you choose not to buy off other players? After all this is a RP game. The whole idea is to RP with people. I'd personally write up a trading posted on the trading board and then buy however many you can. Or just make the price of your dishes more expensive :P

Please re read .. I said I did buy off of other players when it was available but there are not always a player available that will sell a plate. Ask any cook.Just looking for alternatives, found if funny. Was a theoretical question is all. Thanks Athian for the info :)

NP Evie

The selling prices of most items along with the quality reflect the somewhat poor idea about how to stimulate the economy. The IDEA was to make things NPC's sell more expensive as well as to remove many items from NPC's entirely. Thus you were either much more inclined to buy from players or in some cases had no other choice but to do so. I recall at the time i had complained about such a move, as there was no telling when players would be around. The reality was and has been the current pricing only works when there are enough players to keep the market consistent. It also promoted even further the "jack of all trades" rather then reduce it.

Keep doing what your doing for the time being. The prices will be adjusted in the future I'm sure. Perhaps it might be helpful to give some opinions on what items rices seem relatively correct to you. make a thread, hear some opinions etc etc. I'll even sticky it for ya

The prices were already reworked for the VBU. However, one thing will persist: Buying from a NPC will always be more expensive than buying from players or in other words: Selling to NPCs will never be favourable compared to selling to players.

The question is rather: Who here doesn't have their own Quill on atleast one of their characters?
