Why is it after having no trouble at all with the goblins, including warrior goblins that did not affect my health, that now they are causing my character severe harm?

LOL
By bad day, Rakust meant that your character is having a bad day. Those are scripted events that every 24 hours give you a random chance to have more or less stats. In that case, you probably have had a bad day that temporarily took out some of your character's constitution, making him take more damage.

I do think it sounds rather strange that just a con modifier would cause that much effect.
Has some of your armour broken and you haven't realised? Or you died recently?
p.s. LOL

I've noticed the same thing. I could win easy as a new character, then later got hard to win. That is good, as they still can help you learn later.

Some may be harder to beat then others, use a shield on those and watch what food you eat as a human ( if the food con still works? ). You could also have a weapon get too old to be effective when just learning.

did all that. came back with better armor and weapons, the goblins do get tougher later in your progression in skill. But as i said, that is good.

change of armor and equipment shall influence your ability to fight, different creatures.

Also bear in mind that goblins come in : thief, hunter and fighters.
The fighters ones are seriously overpowered. The thief and hunter ones are cannon-fodder.
Also each creature can be stronger or weaker than the other creatures, its random on purpose.
