before mage job

Post by Loophole »

Hey all, I mafe a character a while back anf I designed him to be a mage, I have found someone who I think is willing to teach me, but I have a problem, until then I need to make money so is there any job that usres the mge stats? Because for mining you need to be sttong and for smithing you need to be dexterous or whatever, so is there any job that uses mage statsa?

A writer? An entertainer? Anything revolvin around being clever, willful or charismatic....I'm not sure it will be easy finding a way to make money out of it though.

Chopping up people for bounty. You can do pretty much anything you want.
Miner-Hire a donkey
Fisherman-Buy a rod
Fighter-Train and PG

Due the your high intelligence (Assuming you set the mage up right) you should have no trouble skilling and being the best in all possible fields. If not, dont spend money. Walk around and RP but I heard if you go to Nordmark and say you are a mage in training they will instantly give you a job :)

Mage students have to charm people and make strong friendships, maybe get a bit of political power and stuff to earn a living. The journey to magedom involves having no money ever (and, indeed, for the many weeks in which you will not have good enough runes or high enough skill to cast any decent spells you will still be poor).

I suggest you go round exploiting people in the time being :D . But you have to watch out not to piss anyone off considering even a noob can cloud you in a few seconds.

Being a prospective mage is so fun xD.

Make some RP jobs like playing music and singing, dancing around and making people laugh and throw fish at you.
The fish you could sell for good money! Seriously!

You could also write books or poems, i am sure the town leaders would pay some money to get new things in their library.

Or...yeah, most mages who are bored talk about life in the early ages while fishing for maps.

Yeah, I got that part...why is it funny that a mage might try to take a job that may involve charisma?

I guess the statement was that most mages actually are NOT charismatic.

Some really are not. Some are.

AH! Took me a while. Gotcha. ;)

I guess the reason I said Charisma was because I sometimes relate it with Essence.

Would not do so.

I guess essence is more of your 6th sense. That you notice ghosts (some RP they dont, quite funny at times), or don't sense mana, whatever.
Charisma...there are charismatic farmers and asshole-mages, and vice versa.

If any attribute relates to charisma, it would be willpower.

As far as temporary jobs go, try anything that doesn't require you to produce high-level goods to make a profit (NOT blacksmithing, tailory, or goldsmithing). Consider something where quality isn't so important, like farming, collecting herbs, fishing, etc. Alternatively, though it's probably not easy (I've never tried) find someone who's an established craftsperson, and supply them with what they need. Make handles for smiths, or spin cloth for tailors.

Jobs/Hobbies:

Drinking.
Chatting.
Annoying people.
Drinking with annoying people/other wannabe mages.
Chatting with annoying people/other wannabe mages.
Annoying other annoying people/other wannabe mages.
Pretend to be a real mage and scare children.
Pretend to be a real mage and demand money for the magic academy.
Annoying random people and punching them when they tell you that you're annoying.
Run away from several people chasing you with forks and torches.
Die.

Sounds like an excerpt from that "How to be a Simple Monk." Has anyone ever roleplayed doing that stuff?

Yes. The guy who wrote it did. Maybe you should ask around about him, and see what those who knew him thought?

There isn't a attribute for charisma. And nothing relates with it. 8)

Willpower? If someone says kill yourself you should watch your willpower if you can say 'no'
