I don't think this is a 'find out ig' matter.

So engine- wise there are no differences between those three only the roleplay should be different. Since, for example, Warlocks are half mage, half fighter they shouldn't have all spells but it always depends on the teacher they get.

Warlocks are not "half mage half figther" thats ..well I will not say what it is or I get dotted again.
Anyway engine wise I can remmeber that nitram mentioned a "warlock" system or something, making them cast slightly faster but using more mana up doing so, its just activated if you are below a certaint attribut pointsrange...but I'm not sure nor did I ever tested that out so..yes.. don't quote me on that.

Mages = Mages. One and only true Spellcasters. Pwnorz of ur pantz!
Battlemages = Half Melee, half Magic. Usually have lower mage attributes but higher fighter attributes.
Warlock = Mage/Battlemage who doesn't want to be called a Mage cause he thinks himself to be too cool for it ;)

Warlocks are for the mage groups like the emo's for the goth groups ;)

*lol*

At least...you can ask five chars ingame and you would get five different answers.

There is no technical difference between them.

Technically Warlock means "Oath-breaker" and is a male witch.

Why Pellandria insists on being called Warlock is beyond me.

Lol, I overheard people ingame talking about the character in that fashion.

I'm aware of that and the answer is simple..mages simply suck..:P

Anyway concerning that battlemage is a mage who fights we probably need to clal all those powergamed mages battlemages..heck even Kadiya has better figthing skills than pella has so yes mages are our run down "I haz spellz and I killz you with dat" believing in no special thing unless they are in another different group while warlocks are more of the "live philosophy" kind, so yes you can either choose those whimpy dresswearing mages...those whimpy battlemages powergaming all day..or you cna belong to the great warlocks...:P
Not to mention..I would just make up another group just not to be grouped with likes like Johann Brown and William Elderberry.

Naked outdoor "training" with female students
isn't what I'd call a "live philosophy" per se,
but the Warlocks IG seem to share an opinion
about that topic so maybe you're right.

Hey you!

Are you an attractive elfess, or human female?

How badly do you want to learn magic?

Darkshade, as you see, there is no general describtion.
The mages in Illa give themselves titles and names but in fact they all behave the same, even if they do not want to admit it.
If you wish to play a mage, just play a 'mage' mage and if this mage is somewhat skilled in the arts of fighting, he is simply a mage who is somewhat skilled in the arts of fighting but still just a 'mage'.

Locking this now before people can get into arguments about whose theory on mages is the best.
