definition of role play
ehem...
everyday i read, whose role play was great.
in the last days/weeks i had the chance to presence some of the scenes mentioned.
they seem very theatralic to me.
specially, if i see some of the chars with the very same numbers, not even to give back a "good day"
i allways thought, that "every-day behaviour" was the base of roleplaying.
(and the theatralic scenes just the highlights)
aparently im not on course.
so, please somebody define roleplaying, Illarion-style to me.

I understand what korm means,
I have made some new chars, but I find it hard to socialise, since everyone is already in their little groups and when you try to talk to people they ignore you altogether or just give you one word answers then ask you to leave.
Now, either I come at really bad times, or more people like to stand around whispering ignoring everyone else.
All I want to do is go in game and roleplay, but people seem to be more wrapped up in their own groups and the politics to actually take the time out to meet new people.
The first person I met, when I began playing again, who actually spoke to me and seemed 'nice' was Rankor Deathronk. I dont have that char anymore though.
Anyway, that's just been my view through some of my experiences.

nitram,
in RL i dont go down the street, with an axe over my shoulder...
we eat, we drink, we work. we dont talk about it.
we act in a rural setting. with not much inhabitants. but we ignore each other?
or is it obligatory, to play a histeric?
hadrian,
"discuss". done. and now?
what is your job?
now i'm waiting for two definitions.
hermie,
yes, one of my chars met rankor as well. he was quite charming, till he got aktive... my char uses an artificial leg now.
save those, my mainchar met as counciler of greenbriar, none of my chars got much contact with the high society...

not "the", but "a" simple life. The main problem i think is, that playing the simple and normal life is boring.

The next thing youll see on the RPG board are notices off companies named ' Injury lawyers for you ' and such :p
Although, in real life you don't stay at a ghost when you die and go to a yellow cross to get ressurected, and you don't "accidently" get killed.

Thats so verry fucking true, and I don't like it to much either.Aristeaus wrote:Yes, im getting bored lately in Illi its true. The roleplay is becomming less ' Fantasy ' and more real life.

And yeah, alot ignore whatever the smile you do.
I bet if I had one of my chars get naked in the middle of Trollsbane and dance around swinging 'it' about more then 75 percent of the players would just walk by or whatever.
Also I see those that simply give a verry quick "Hello" and walk on without giving me a chance to reply.
And also, noone wants anything to do with my newer chars either it seems.
Perhaps some even judge like this: His number is this many didgits long, he's a noob.
I always enjoyed bartending, farming, and cooking. The "boring" aspects and simple interactions always beat out the nonsensically overdramtized happenings that never made much sense to me. Of course I overprocess any situation, and clearly I enjoy simple things in real life as well. I still think we need added effects for cooking and brewing to be valued professions, and the dwarves to give up ownership of the tavern. Maybe then we can get rid of borgate and actually make it a place of pleasantry and scrub the dwarf stains off it to its former glory.
i find RP of a simple life fun as well. Az just spends time with Cyndil and helps to get what they need to live in Vanima. Of course I find the medico parts of RP interesting too but I do not need them to have fun.Gro'bul wrote:I always enjoyed bartending, farming, and cooking.
