....how can you learn another language without any references? You will end up making a new language...

Well, like, if you wanted to learn chinese... would you sit somewhere and say stuff that you think is chinese without any books?

Someone really needs to make a comprehensive guide to doing things... back in the old days, no one told a new player that he should "figure out how to attack" .. and there was no vague hint to how to do something when you weren't quite right. (ex. "You should learn to *control* your attacks.")

Ultimate Illarion, where are you?

Learning other languages is extremely new and if you can't get help doing it then I suggest stopping until someone can put something up about it.

You learn languages with speaking them. But you need at least one skillpoint, in the language, else it won't raise.

What are the boundaries on Powergaming languages? I personally raise my language on my own by reciting ingame stories or events, or by reading out what I am RPing writing. To me this falls into the context of not doing an action repeatedly outside of the characters normal behaviour. But I have a suspicion many people just find a quiet spot on the map and go:

A *enter*
A *enter*
A *enter*

This shouldn't be disputed as powergaming, but my recitals WERE recently accused of a powergaming technique. So please, just some clarity from someone with the power, as it were.

Sam.

Dude, there is an elf npc Northwest of Troll's Bane, beyond the Northern Forest. He can help you learn one new language: elvish.
However, I don't know any advice of how he works in english. German players have told me it's easier for them.

Maybe the npc should be checked?

With the phrase, 'Find out InGame', is not meant you have to look for the location yourself, but for the information you have been asking for.

You can easily ask for help when you don't understand what key kombinations you have to use to invoke certain actions of your character, e.g. smithing, fishing or farming.

But if you ask for deeper character knowledge, e.g. 'How many iron bars are needed to smith a full plate?', you will be re-directed into the game to let your character figure this out by himself and/or by interacting with other characters.

In other words:
Ask a bit arround with your character or let your character simply try out.

Lance is almost completely fluent in Elvish and Ancient. It takes time, but your character will get there.
