Farmer's Market

Post by Farmer's Market »

((OOC: This Forum thread is for the Farmer's Market organization, members and customers and is based at the Hemp Necktie Inn for roleplaying and guild purposes and is open to all for that purpose. Please do not spam this thread.))

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Farmer's Market-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Guild and Trading Company-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Much like the old "Farmer's Union" of old, the Farmer's Market will be made for farmers by farmers. We are neutral to gender, race, hometown and religion (except Moshran) and accept anyone who wishes to till the Earth, enjoy the smell of fresh baked bread and enjoy the softer crafts in a family friendly environment in harmony with the Earth and in service to all of Illarion. We grow, collect and cook together, we share together!" ~ Bernie Bottoms, Coordinator

Our Headquarters and meeting place is at the Hemp Necktie Inn, the Greenbriar Room upstairs, but Farmers are encouraged to grow where they desire, until we are able to create our own fields. All members are also encouraged to attend the monthly Market-day at the Inn, where the Coordinator will also oversee transactions. Our Long-Term goal of course is to obtain a permanent Field, Kitchen and Bunkhouse where all members can enjoy a neutral location far from the hustle of city life. We all will obtain this in time - together.

Here is the list of ranks and members. From the lowest:

1. Farmhand - Beginning Farmer/Collector

2. Farmer - Seasoned Farmer/Collector

3. Yeoman - Veteran Farmer/Collector

4. Coordinator - Veteran Farmer/Collector and coordinator of transactions

The Coordinator:
• Collects, announces and assigns orders
• Keep confidential the names of purchasers
• Collecting goods and sending goods to purchasers
• Giving due recompense to all farmers
• Making lists of prices and tracking supplies
• Gathering money from every order
• Coordinating events and fellowship

---------------------------------------------------------------------------Bylaws of the Guild-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rules of the Guild:
The following rules are in keeping with the overall goals of the Farmer's Market and are meant to ensure a happy and fair life for its membership.

1. Anyone will be permitted to join the Farmer's Market provided they uphold the following laws of the Farmer's Market, Excepting those associated with a group or groups known to be considered an evil or unsavory entity

2. Any member found to be in contradiction to these laws may be dismissed from the Farmer's Market without warning at the discretion of the Coordinator.

3. Three warnings (Verbal or written) to a member constitute an immediate dismissal.

4. Any Yeoman may give a warning except in the case of the third and final warning which must be with the permission of the Coordinator.

5. Any member may present his/her case against any warnings they receive to the Coordinator to dismiss the warning.

6. Orders taken and allocated to a member by the Coordinator or Yeomen, which are deemed "Farmer's Market" orders must be accounted for. Monies must then be reported and given to the Coordinator at the earliest convenience to pay for the work done. The member filling the order must be informed that it is a Farmer's Market order and what amount is due to the Farmer's Market, before he/she accepts the order.

7. Yeomen and the Coordinator will use their discretion to determine which orders are Farmer's Market orders and which orders are personal orders.

8. Members receiving orders for the Farmer's Market may pass them on to a Yeoman, Only Yeomen and the Coordinator may allocate orders to other members, so as to keep a fair allotment of orders.

9. Some preference may be given to newer members if the order is deemed appropriate to the learning and advancement of a new craftsman.

10. All members should be fair and honest with a goal to advance the reputation of the Farmer's Market. They should conduct themselves as representatives of the Farmer's Market at all times with friendliness, helpfulness and cheerful disposition.

11. Experienced members should help new members in their trades as best they can with the understanding that there is plenty of work for everyone and we succeed as a team not as individuals.

12. We are an independent group of farmers, who share food and goods together and vote equally on the changes and proposals to the Farmer's Market at quarterly meetings, Majority of the active farmers present prevail.

13. Any "Stockpile" in the Farmer's Market that isn't full can be completed by any member and count toward activity. The Coordinator will pay the normal rate for supplies to the Farmer's Market stores as any customer order - which is currently 20% of value. Feel free to work on any part of the supplies "In Stock" that are 'unfilled'. (See Price List)

Duties of all farmers:
All Society members are highly encouraged to attend "Market Day" once a month on the first day at the Hemp Necktie Inn. They will be announced in advance if possible. The Coordinator or his designee will be available before, during and after Market Day on the 1st of the month (12-3pm) for Farmer's Market business.

Farmer's Market meetings will be conducted Quarterly at the Inn and Farmer's Market members are highly encouraged to attend for the betterment of the Farmer's Market.

All members are considered "Active" if they engage in one Farmer's Market transaction per four month period.

Farmhands & Farmers collect, grow and create their goods to meet Farmer's Market customers but deal directly through the Coordinator. Upon becoming Yeomen, they may then conduct business with customers directly for the Farmer's Market, with only a report on the Farmer's Market Boards and monies given to the Coordinator for distribution.

Farmhands who have remained active for 4 months ((1 RL Month)) will be promoted to Farmer.

Farmers who have remained active for 12 months ((3 RL Months)) will be promoted to Yeoman.

Time may be obtained through donation to the Farmer's Market too, and this helps the Farmer's Market as a whole. Every 1000 items donated will earn 1 Month ((1 RL week)) toward status, so hard, loyal workers are not slowed in their work because of time.

Yeomen are 'partners' with the Coordinator and may issue warnings to farmhands and farmers, train farmhands, allocate Farmer's Market orders to farmhands and farmers, deal with customers and work to benefit the Farmer's Market as a whole. Yeomen are also expected to communicate with the Coordinator and work together with him/her.

Benefits of membership:
All active members are entitled to special prices for their goods - currently 20% of value

All active members are entitled to make any proposal or change to the operations of the farmer's market which will be proposed at the quarterly meetings.

All active members are entitled to a vote at each quarterly meeting on issues and changes, the coordinator only casting tie-breaker votes.

All transactions for the month are calculated by the Coordinator, customer prices, pay for the farmers and the difference held in trust for the farmer's market for future tools, supplies and improvements.

All active members may trade 1:1 any seed or crop in Farmer's Market stores without coin and special pricing for their work.

All strangers and newcomers to the land may ask, and receive ample food according to their need. We will entrust a supply of 'charity food' to our various Yeomen.

Other benefits will be announced as tools, land and a permanent location is secured.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------Farming Culture--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Gods of Farming

Tanora - Creator Goddess of Water
The second month of spring is named after the creator goddess Tanora, who is supposed to be identical with the water-goddess "Zelphia" of the lizard people. Tanos is known as the month of floods, during which the winter snows melt and rain falls the rivers surge with bountiful waters bringing life to parched soils and plentiful fish. Our fields are made fertile and ready for sowing thanks to Tanora.

Ushara - Creator Goddess of Earth
She created the Earth, plants and animals for us to enjoy. To foster and care for her creation, she encourages her followers to worship Oldra in the new temples. There are not currently many followers of Ushara, but now and then, she gifts us with a pure symbol of her presence.

Oldra - Goddess of Life and Fertility
Oldra is the goddess of life and fertility. As such, the prayers to Oldra are focused upon growth of crops and good food, birth and raising of children, as well as healing and motherly advice. Oldra is considered by many to be a motherly, or even grandmotherly god, offering advice and protection. Known to be wise and gentle, she is good natured and helpful, often listening to the needs of women. When she does walk the lands, she is seen as a stout and elderly woman, often wearing a blue dress. She is symbolised by some as a Bradamen tree, known for longevity with a trunk of immense girth supporting many boughs and a multitude of branches and leaves. She favours simplicity and humility, drawn to life in the fields and peasantry in general, where she can appreciate well fed animals, growing vegetables and sharing a good meal. Those who are greedy, selfish and seek only to fulfil their own ambitions displease her.

Followers of Oldra are often farmers, prospective mothers, midwives, some druids, as well as many halflings. Some halflings even venerate her as the ‘All-mother’ and consider her to be the source of all life. Her followers are often grand cooks, skilled healers, and compassionate peasants. As such, the altar dedicated to Oldra in Yewdale, within the territory of Runewick, is often surrounded by crops and well cooked meals. Others may leave offerings to find blessing at her altar deep in Sentry Forest, a place known as Oldra's Corner. Her followers are called to great kindness and tenderness, to treat others well, unless the life of their loved ones is threatened. Most of her priests are female, serving from a young age for the duration of their lives.

Followers of Oldra believe that when they die, they are taken to a holy land of beautiful gardens, crop-filled fields and well fed animals, where Oldra greets them at a gate. If they have been good in life, welcoming and hospitable, Oldra invites them through the gate, where they will enjoy delicious food and meeting old and new friends, all whilst looking at the never-ending wonder of her garden. If they were bad, however, they are granted a short rest outside the garden before being granted a new life as a child, so that they can make sense of the world.

Important Times of the Year

Farmers usually plant most of their crops during Ushos "the month of sowing", the last month of Spring. The fields around Runewick and Galmair will be freshly dug with seeds sown by the end of the month.

Olos, the month of harvest, was named after Oldra and all across Illarion, the 24th Olos is celebrated as a thanksgiving day. It is a widely known as a day of festivities amongst all the races except for the lizards who have little knowledge of farming and the harvesting of crops in their traditions and culture. Lizard settlements usually ignore this day, but many a lizard has joined the celebrations when travelling from their homelands. The priests of Oldra pronounced this day in Olos, as a blessing from the goddess herself but in all liklihood the weather conditions, and therefore the harvest season, define the date.

There are some local differences in how the festivities are celebrated, but they are usually done with processions, followed by religious speeches and grain or fruit sacrifices. These acts of thankfulness end with a big feast in the evenings. In poor settlements especially, this day is looked forward to because it is one of the few days that brings nourishment in satisfying amounts. These traditions are frowned upon in Albar, the origin of Cadomyr's ruling family, since the worshipping of Oldra and any other female deity has been forbidden for over five hundred years. A thanksgiving feast is tolerated but it is forbidden to say or express the name "Oldra" in any form. In Cadomyr, celebrations are not prohibited but as farming is doomed to fail in the desert realm, little recognition is given to the festival.

Festivities of the Year

Day of Thanksgiving - Olos 24th (Dawn)
This is a day near the end of Harvest in which we gather our harvests and thank the Goddess Oldra for her blessings by giving to those in need. This is a time to feed the hungry, help the struggling and strengthen the weak. By giving, we bless others as Oldra has blessed us. Traditionally, the giving is preceded by a parade through fields and villages, as well as showing our harvest to others and thanking Oldra for her blessings.

Day of Drink - Adras 24th (Evening)
Although times and dates may vary, this is a time after the harvest has been gathered, stockpiles preserved and brews have been made. A day of drink, celebration and intoxication! Farmers work hard, but here they play hard too! How better to spend time with friends, co-workers and family than around a hearth, making merry through drink, song and games? Through the merriment, Adron, the God of Festivities is placated and pleased.

Day of Chaos - Naras 21st (Noon)
Although days and times vary, this is a time set aside to create chaos in some 'harmless' way to please and placate the God of Chaos, Nargun. We feel this is important because the last thing we need during the long winter is chaos. While the land slumbers, we celebrate a little chaos mainly to keep it away from our grains, vegetables and supplies during the long and dangerous winter months.

Day of Remembrance - Chos 21st (Noon)
Although dates and times vary, this is a time set aside in a peaceful setting, to honor and tell stories of dearly departed. Sometimes a 'dumb' supper is held, keeping one seat empty, to represent the departed and invite them to join the living this one night a year for dinner.

Harbor Feast - Tanos 10th (Breakfast)
A celebration of rains, rivers and replenishing waters that nurture our fields and allow us to transport our wares to markets. We celebrate our local Harbor at the Inn with a breakfast Harbor Feast and blessing to the river. This harbor and the teleporter is what makes the Inn, the crossroads of Illarion for travelers and merchants alike!

(Important stories and background added Soon!)

The Farmhand Instruction Manual
copyright "Farmer's Market" guild and trading company

((OOC: This is meant for beginners to learn the trade to help in the business of the Farmer's Market guild. Through-out this document, "Use" means Double Right Click on the item and let the game collect for you. Our guild will provide a mentor if you need one as well as always pay for your efforts to filling our orders and stockpiles.))

So, you wanna be a Farmer? Good for you! Farmers are the salt of the Earth, the backbone of food crafts and alchemy in Illarion! We cherish good food, good friends and happy customers who love our harvests! Of all the careers in Illarion, Farmers are outstanding in their field! Congratulations!

Now, how to do it? Well if you read below, we will help you step by step, learn the basics and tricks of farming, slaughtering, gathering and other menial tasks we perform that if done regularly, consistently will reap great rewards not only to you, but to those who haven't the time, skill or desire to do what we do, yet they absolutely need it to craft their wares! You are the 'foundation' they need! Be proud to call yourself a Farmer!

First Steps: Gathering

The most important task, finding food you need to continue your work! Luckily, you can gather fruits which can be used for food, cooking and brewing!

Gathering Fruits:
For these, all you need are your hands, face the bush or tree and "Use" ((Double click)) the Tree or Bush!
Fruit Trees: Apple Trees, Cherry Trees, Orange Trees, Banana Trees
Fruit Bushes: Bushes (Grapes), Berry Bushes (Berries), Tangerine Bushes, Blackberry Bushes
(Pictures soon)
*Danger!: When picking fruits from Trees, an occasional Tree Troll may appear because you woke it up. Always be able to defend yourself or run for it!

Gathering Eggs:
Much like collecting Fruits, you can gather eggs from Chicken Nests too! You can't eat them raw though! Cooks seek these with various recipes.
For these, all you need are your hands, face the nest and "Use" ((Double click)) the Nest!
(Picture soon)
*Tip: Don't gather eggs from nests next to Lizard folk - they don't like that!

Gathering Honey:
Much like collecting Fruits and Eggs, Bees make Hives to store their Honey.
Face a Beehive with your bare hands. 'Use' the Beehive to dig for honey inside.
(Picture soon)
*Danger!: Watch out stealing Honey, a wild wasp may try to kill you!

Next Steps: Becoming a Farmer

Ah! Now we get to the good stuff! There's basically two types of crops, Wheat and everything else. In order to grow them, we have to have seed first. The Guild will give you enough seed to get started, or you can purchase some from the farming vendors in Runewick or Galmair.

Sowing Seeds:
You need to hold some seed in your hand and be standing in a farm field of empty, tilled earth. Then you "use" the Seeds and plant them in all the land around and underneath you using only 9 seeds at a time. If you want to plant more, then simply move to another area of empty field and repeat.
(Picture soon)
*Tip: Different crops have different harvest times, don't plant more than you can harvest, or it'll turn to seed and then rot ((disappear))!
**Danger!: Very rarely, tilling the soil to sow the seeds will unbury a crippled skeleton! These are leftover from the undead wars, but their swords are not to be taken lightly! Run and find someone who can deal with it!

Grains: Grain tends to have the fastest growing time of all, but it is the most useful! It's used in breads, cookies, pies, cakes and Beer! It's always the best choice!
Tools needed: Scythe, Flail and Threshing Floor
Simply sow some grain seed as mentioned in "Sowing Seeds" and wait. There are three stages the new wheat will take, short grain, tall grain and dried grain. You can only harvest the dried grain with a Scythe. Harvest it quick though or you'll lose the crop!
(Pictures soon)

To Harvest, hold a 'Scythe' in your hand and face a dried stalk of wheat or the middle of your field. It will be Brown instead of Greenish-Yellow color. 'Use' the Scythe to cut Wheat Bundles from the Wheat Stalk. Sometimes it will take a few tries to get all the bundles of wheat. In time, you'll learn to get more from each stalk.
*Tip: These are heavy, so plan to get them to a depot quick if you have to harvest more.

To separate Grain again, get some Wheat Bundles and a flail. Stand upon a Threshing Floor and hold the flail in your hands with the Wheat Bundles in your belt. "Use" the flail and you'll thrash the bundles into Grain by instinct!
(Picture Soon)
*Tip: Always save some of this grain for seed for your next crop. There are things you can do with the rest, like making Flour!

Crops:
Crops tend to take longer than Grain so be patient! Various crops have various uses, so grow what you need and save your seeds! They are hard to gather again at first, but with experience, you'll learn to find more.
Tools needed: Sickle
Simply sow some crop seed as mentioned in "Sowing Seeds" and wait. There are several types of crops: Tomatoes, Potatoes, Onions, Carrots, Hops, Tobacco, Sugarcane and Cabbages.
(Pictures soon)
*Tip: Grow lots of grain first so you will have the knowledge to gather enough seed to continue with crops. Crop seeds tend to be harder to gather and you could run out if you're not careful!

Harvesting Crops: Hold the sickle in your hand and face a grown crop like Cabbage, Tomatoes, Onions or Carrots, or simply stand in the middle of them. 'Use' the Sickle with the crop and you will begin harvesting that crop till it's gone.
*Tip: If you want some seeds again, don't harvest all the crop, but let it sit and decompose. Soon only the seeds will remain.

Gathering Seeds: Hold a 'Sickle' in your hand and face a crop that has been allowed to seed or stand amongst them. This happens when the crop is left in the ground and it decomposes to seeds. Now 'use' the sickle with that seed and you will gather them until they are gone. If you don't get many at first, don't worry. More experience will show you how to find more seed from each plant.

Future Steps: Animal Products

Fishing: To fish, you simply have to hold a 'fishing rod' in your hands. Face some water near a shoal - which will have a school of fish swimming in the shallow water, and 'use' the fishing rod. You'll catch all manner of fish and junk items, but occasionally you may even snag a treasure map or pure water! The fish can then be fried or used in cooking.
*Tip: Watch out for the occasional mummy, they bite!

Slaughtering: Animals need to be harvested once in a while lest they die of overpopulation and starve. Also, we as farmers need to kill livestock to provide solid food for cooking too. There are many animals to slaughter that can be eaten. These are: Pigs, Sheep, Cows/Bulls, Rabbits, Chickens and Deer. Simply use your weapon of choice and attack ((right click)) on the animal until it dies. Then carve away as much meat and leather/fur as you can to use, waste as little as possible!
*Tip: This can be dangerous in the wilderness, so be careful! There are more dangerous creatures out there, so stay close to a town in the beginning. Everything except Deer can be found in safe areas around the towns.

Shearing: If you don't want to hurt the sheep, try shearing! Holding a pair of scissors in your hand, face a sheep. 'Use' the scissors to shear the sheep. Careful! The sheep tend to move suddenly, but will stop if you are shearing them. Sometimes some sticky steppe fern weed or pure fire appears in the wool, or the sheep turns up a treasure map stopping your work. Simply continue and get that wool and the sheep will grow more later.

Milking: This is one of the harder tasks for the beginner because you need the bottles, but one that is rewarding! You'll need some large empty bottles and know where to find some cows (not bulls!). Hold the bottles in your hand and stand next to a cow. "Use" the bottle and milk the cow! Cows never have more than 2 full bottles of milk on them, so allow them time to recover. The cow isn't harmed during this. Then the milk can be used to make cheese or in cooking.

And Beyond: Advanced Farming and Gathering
So you have all the Veggies, Grain, Milk, Meat, Honey and Fruits you could ever need? Congratulations! Now what do we do with it? Well, the Farmer's Market generally sells these in bulk to our customers for just above cost, so we can share the profit with them. Consider that a customer could buy 5 grain and 3 potatoes for only 140 coppers, make Potato Bread and sell it to a town merchant for 150 coppers! They make 10 coppers for doing nothing more than baking a loaf of bread! They'd be happy to continue making their bread instead of growing all that grain and potatoes! You're doing them a service! Be proud to call yourself a farmer!

However, there are a few things we can do with our supplies while we wait for the next Harvest that will also save our customers time and they will be willing to pay for. In the last section of the manual, we'll explain some of these things which we hope will not only help you pass the time, but also help our customers too!

Making Flour:
Materials Needed - Wooden Shovel, Grain and a Millstone (Galmair, Runewick or Yewdale)
So you have tons of grain! What do we do with it? Well, unless you plant it or brew it into Beer, you really have to grind it into flour. Cooks and Bakers all need flour for their breads, cakes and pies. By making flour, you'll be doing them a service! To start, simply find a Millstone which will grind the grain into fine, fluffy flour. Stand next to the Millstone with your grain and with a wooden shovel in hand to stir and collect the flour, and use the shovel! The wheel will spin and crunch across that grain, grinding it into a fine powder, which we bag up as flour. Good work!

Baking Bread Rolls:
Materials Needed - Peel, Bucket of water, Bag of Flour and a Baking Oven (Galmair or Runewick)
Grain is great for many things such as Beer, Breads, cakes and pies! To make it edible, we have to grind it into flour and bake it. The most basic way to do this is to make a Bread Roll. This is simply a little flour, mixed with water, kneaded and baked in an oven. Simply hold the Peel in your hand and face a baking oven. Use the Peel to mix the water and flour into a paste and bake it. A simple roll will bake rather quickly and will go great with those sausages soon! The best rolls 'crackle' when you press on them!

Frying Meats:
Materials needed - Frying Pan, Raw Meat or any Fish, and a Roasting Oven (Galmair or Runewick)
You can't eat raw meat! Someone has to fry it, however this is a boring task for most Bakers and Cooks out there. Why not put your knowledge of animals ((Husbandry)) to work and fry them? All you need to do is find a nice roasting oven, hold the Pan in your hand with your choice of Fish or Meats handy and 'use' the pan. The aroma of juicy, succulent, sizzling meat will fill your nostrils and make you and our customers hungry for more!
*Tip: Don't cook all your raw meats! Some cooking recipes call for raw as well as fried meats, so have a healthy supply of both for cooks.

Making Sausages:
Materials needed - Cooking Spoon, Pork, Entrails and a Hanging Kettle (There's one at the Inn)
Ham is nice, but you can stretch that Pork into more than a hunk of Ham! Especially if there's no Roasting Oven nearby! How about sausages? Now this is the most basic cooking recipe, so it can be the most useful for more advanced culinary works such as dishes! Simply find a hanging kettle (it's usually filled with boiling water already) and hold the cooking spoon in your hand with the Pork and Entrails handy. I know what you're saying - Entrails? Yuck! However, when you cook pork this way, it tends to crumble. So, we need a 'casing' to wrap around the crumbled pork to hold it in place. This is what the entrails are for. Don't worry, they will taste delicious! So now, simply 'use' the spoon to fill your casings into sausages, thereby doubling your pork into edible sausages! Mmmm!

(More to be added soon!)

((OOC: This is meant for beginners to learn the intricate skills of Cooking and Baking, the benefits of such and encourage more cooking by beginners instead of eating just smoked fish))

So you want to be a cook? Well, congratulations! Being a farmer is great, but turning those crops into delicious, savory dishes is the work of a cook or baker! It is our hope that through this cookbook, you'll learn and appreciate the value of the foods you grow, cook and bake!

So let's begin! You already know how to make the most basic foods - smoked fish, bread rolls and sausages. Now let's go further! The better the food, the better the taste and the healthier it is for you too!!

This is a work in progress and we will add many recipes and descriptions as we can until this is completed. It is a work of several members of our guild and not an easy task. So, be sure to check back here and enjoy!

We have now added both common and rare herbs to our offerings. I expect many an alchemist will be happy to know they can order exactly what they need instead of asking 50 people if they have "X" herb! Just like farming the Earth, we farm the wild plants and offerings Oldra drops for us to find!

Also, I have recommended the Pryler sisters as a source of baked, cooked and brewed goods for a fair price. They are good friends of ours and mentioned they were selling foods and brews, so why compete with them if we don't have to? we'll focus on what we do best, farm, gather and collect.

We will still hold our "Day of Thanksgiving" feast in Olos, so mark yer calendars!!

Mighty fine work you all! With these new prices, I expect plenty of work to be done!

Today was a good day for us! I have submitted a request for the Greenbriar room at the Inn as a Meeting and Bunkroom for the Guild and was accepted. I have been assured it is being furnished and will get keys to it soon! It will serve as an office and private meeting space for the guild. It will be costly, but we can afford it. Let's just keep those orders and crops coming and someday, we may even build a guildhouse of our own, but this is a great start!

I would also like to announce the warrior "Dranis" has joined our ranks. He is unfamiliar with farming, however has excellent skills as a Butcher. He will be able to collect various meats for our stockpile, and perhaps learn a little about farming along the way. Everyone welcome Dranis to the team!

I will be around Galmair and the Hempy the next few days if anyone needs me! Thank you all!

This month begins Olos, named after the Goddess of farming. In respect to her, we have had a statue constructed to her honor in our new Headquarters! We now officially have the Greenbriar Room at the Inn as our headquarters for the next full year, paid. It has been nicely decorated with a meeting table, statue to Oldra, a unique painting and even some bunk beds for our members who are caught in bad weather. I have several keys, but may only be given to our trusted Yeomen.

Our second market day 'should' be tomorrow, 3rd of Olos at 12pm (Server time 10 Jan 4am - CST 9pm) and I hope to see many of you then. We did very well last month despite the transition from the society and still have much to do, collect and distribute! At the end of this month, we will also hold our "Day of Thanksgiving" where we feast, talk and enjoy each other's company, and give to the needy.

Yesterday was eventful due to the reappearance of Jefferson Gray to the Oldra service in Galmair, and the ensuing rounds of battles, which even spilled over to the Inn. I was harmed during this, but am feeling better now. I urged to stop the fighting and in hindsight, should have stayed out of it. These events have made me realize how vulnerable we are at the Inn and need to take precautions for ourselves and our guests. If anyone would like to serve also as "Mercenaries", We could pay for your services during our events, simply let me know and come armored and ready to defend - we shall not attack nor interfere, but we must defend ourselves against "all" who would disrupt our events. Outlaws are not the only dangers in the Hinterlands.

In service,

Addendum:
Upon consultation with Baron Srrt of the Cadomyrian House of the Desert Fox, I have learned that the House of the Sea Serpent, has declared me an enemy for a mistake I made yesterday during the 'incident', and there is no convincing them otherwise. No fine, fee or apology will deter the Count's opinion on this matter, for anyone even 'seeming' to assist the outlaw Jefferson is declared as same as he. I simply wanted peace.

I have apologized and done all I can, so if this is the penance for that deed, so be it. I shall not resist. All they need do is identify themselves as members of the Sea Serpent, and I will go willingly.

I ask all of you who wish to defend our customers and members from attack to please do so, but be not concerned for me. I shall take my beatings as punishment if that is their desire, until they revoke this 'enemyship'. I believe they will tire of beating someone like me for it serves no purpose. I shall not shirk my duties to you, nor go into hiding. I hope you all will forgive this inconvenience, but it seems to be the world we live in. So be it.

Thank you,

Well, Happy Day of Thanksgiving!

Two Early Birds certainly got the worms, with much needed foods of cooked dishes, fried meats and smoked fish. The "Bottoms Band" was able to practice some tunes and after an hour, we went to the fields and started our work.

We had a customer buy all 59 rare herbs, 4 silk and 350 mushrooms of different types. We also have had many donations and collections from our workers so the list is in dire need of updating! I will try to update the list as soon as I can. In three days is Market Day ((Tuesday 4am server time)), so hope to see you and some customers again!

After the Market Day, we'll have the first of our quarterly meetings in the Greenbriar room ((5am server time)).

Thanks to all of your efforts and may Oldra bless and keep your harvests bountiful!

Well, a very good day today! Hew has been very busy and delivered many seeds, crops and even some tools! Well done Hew! I have now completed deliveries to the Inn and updated the list accordingly.

We also got many fish, herbs, oil and milk stocks increased and the list has been updated for those too. Good work everyone!

On the 24th, we'll have a "Happy Hour event' at the Inn, and then I'm planning a "Chaotic Scavenger Hunt" for the 21st of next month. I hope you all can attend.

Soon will be Mas. We will not be open or conduct any business during Mas. Mas is not the time for Farmers to be out. I do not expect any of you to risk your lives during that unholy month. Me and my family are planning to hunker down, sing, play some instruments and tell stories during Mas. I hope you all likewise make plans to stay safe during Mas. If anyone needs to stay in the office during Mas, let me know and we can meet before we lock ourselves inside, only to open in Elos for Market Day.

I will be in Runewick tomorrow making more Milk Bottles! Then to Galmair the next day! Or you can always catch me at the Inn in between trips!

Keep up the good work and see you all soon!

After sleeping off a massive hangover, I'd like to thank our friends and customers for coming to the Happy Hour at the Inn. It was a great success and a lot of fun until the end. Sadly all good things must come to an end.

I want remind everyone that the Guild as a whole is neutral. We do not condone, nor support any actions by our individual members against towns, feuds or grudges. How can we, when we are open to all, whether it be Runewick, Galmair, Cadomyr or Unaffiliated? All we can hope for is that guild members accord themselves appropriately during Guild business in a neutral, happy and cheerful manner. The offender certainly did restrain himself during the event, so the Guild can hold no blame.

The Happy Hour was a guild activity, but had officially ended before the 'incident'. I am saddened that it happened and only hope that patrons remember there are many dangers outside of towns. We try to ensure the safety of our patrons during events, but outside of that we cannot be held responsible. A disclaimer will be added to future events.

On a lighter note, many crops were harvested and items created to add to the massive guild stockpiles! With Market Day coming very soon ((today at 4am server time!)) I will update the lists after that. I would also like to give a very special thanks to AS'seriel of Cadomyr for his generous donation of coins. It will not be forgotten and used for good.

@ Darius, I hope to see you soon too!

Thank you all for your hard work with the harvests. May Oldra keep you safe from harm!

Thanks for that Hew. I look forward to meeting you in the fields.

Today was an excellent Market Day! We sold 2500 Apples, 1500 Blackberries, 300 Oranges, 200 Potatoes, 400 Carrots and 1500 sugarcane! We are working to replenish these, and we have also obtained more tools from Hew and herbs from River. River also wanted to do some cooking today, and made some fresh sausages and cheeses. She's learning to cook again at these elevations, but she's got potential! The list has been updated with new totals.

As for me, I'll be at the Inn again tomorrow, brewing. Borgate was nice enough to lend me the use of his barrel, which I need to make about 300 bottles of beer as part of our arrangement. Beyond that, I also need to replenish all the booze and drinks used a few nights ago! Not a problem though, because I can brew most anything.

Good work everyone! Be sure to store your supplies and get ready for winter! Dry out those seeds and start planning for Ushos!

A great Day! I'd like to welcome Hirinkirit to the Guild today! He is a Human cook/carpenter fairly new to the area who was impressed with our prices and service. We'll talk more soon, but we'll be adding cooking hardware, bottles, cooked items and other supplies to our lists soon with his help! Mmmmm! Welcome to the Guild Hirinkirit!

Everyone is doing great! See you all soon!

Rules for the Scavenger Hunt!!

Must start at the Hemp Necktie Inn and check in with Bernie Bottoms (host). Hunt will start at the appointed times! You may use a sickle, Fishing Pole or any other tool needed. Get the clues for each hour and collect those items. Deliver them to Bernie Bottoms before the hour is up ((20 Minutes)) – if you don’t Nargun will change the items and yours won’t count anymore!
Each set of clues will be announced at the Inn by Bernie Bottoms (host) so listen up!! After the hour begins, they will be posted on the guild bulletin board there ((Right here - keep checking!!))
Clues will change each hour, so be ready to know what you’re looking for!
Each clue refers to one easily obtainable item, except Thingamajigs which have a couple possible answers.
Figure out the clue and find that item(s)
Anyone can play! You may travel anywhere to get these items, but be back before the end of the hour! ((20 minutes))
Anyone can win and winners can compete for the next Hour too! You could win 5 times if you collect all the items each hour!
Items collected for each hour will not count after the next hour has begun
Only the first three to bring back the correct items will win a prize for that hour! All others….what took you so long?
Play nice with others!
Teams are allowed, but only 1 prize is given for the hour - a team will have to divide them.
Magic Gem Prizes will be given at the end ((3:40am)) to all winners at the Hemp Necktie Inn! Nargun is sure to mix up some colors!

Hour One ((20 Minutes – 2am to 2:20am server time))
2 Thingamajigs: It’s small, white and fluffy! (2 answers)
1 Doohickey: This fruit rhymes with Berry!
1 Whatchamacallit: This fish does not smell like a flower!

Hour Two ((20 Minutes – 2:20am to 2:40am server time))
2 Thingamajigs: Something you call a loved one! (3 answers)
1 Doohickey: This sponge doesn’t wear square pants!
1 Whatchamacallit: If you had to use a cane to walk, don’t use this type!

Hour Three ((20 Minutes – 2:40am to 3am server time))
2 Thingamajigs: Birds of a “blank”, will flock together! (2 answers)
1 Doohickey: This plant is a chair for Frogs!
1 Whatchamacallit: It sounds like you can, but you really can’t kill Vampires with it!

Hour Four ((20 Minutes – 3am to 3:20am server time))
2 Thingamajigs: These come from a male Oak tree only! (Plural)
1 Doohickey: A Cowardly Weed!
1 Whatchamacallit: A Horse is a Horse of course, unless you swim!

Hour Five ((20 Minutes – 3:20am to 3:40am server time))
2 Thingamajigs: One mushroom from the beginning of life and one berry from the end of life!
1 Doohickey: This weed has never had children!
1 Whatchamacallit: A Box without Hinges, key or lid yet inside Golden treasure is hid!

Hour Six ((3:40am to end))

Happy Scavenging!!!

Well, the scavenger hunt is done! Well done to those few who attended and completed several of the clues! Several Gems were given randomly by Nargun. Well done! I think the God of Chaos is satisfied.

Tomorrow is Market Day! I have tons of things to add to the list and update them. We're even going to add new product lines soon! Hope to see you there!

An excellent Market Day!! Our new member Hirenkirit bought some major supplies for his cooking and delivered many rare herbs too! Tialdin was also able to get vegetables he needed! River, Buddy and Hew have been very hard at work this month and so many items have flooded into our granary! All of our items have been moved from other places and the inventory is now updated!

Thanks to our new members, we are able to expand our offerings to include Brewed Drinks, Baked Foods, Cooked Dishes & Soups for a decent price! After all, after a long day in the fields working hard, food and drink are a necessity to play hard! These will mainly serve our members and customers who can't cook and want good solid, cheap food for whatever ails them, so they can continue their work in whatever field they choose.

*NEW* Also, starting in Elos next year, we will be changing Market Day from the 3rd of the month to the 1st! ((Same Time of Day in American Timezones)) To help you and our customers remember this, we will create new advertising signs at the Inn to remind everyone ((Player Quests)). It is our hope that these will help.

Now, this was the market day for Chos, and Mas is around the corner. At the end of the month, me and my family will have a Dinner of Remembrance ((Posted Soon)). You are welcome to come, but we cannot guarantee security so close to Mas. We will do no business during Mas as we will lock everything away including ourselves! Then when Elos begins, we will hold the first Market Day of Year 51!

Friends, be safe and secure during Mas. Take refuge in towns or here at the Inn, but most importantly, stay safe!

Wow! Already a good day for customers! We sold all the blackberry muffins and the elderberry pie, and received a standing order for more muffins! I posted 500, but the customer will take whatever we can come up with.

We also had a customer bought all 210 rare herbs! We made quite a bit of coin from that, so thanks to everyone who gathered those! We now have a standing order for more! Alchemy is so hard to learn without these supplies. The customer was very happy!

We will soon sell all our tomato seeds and blackberries too! We have several things that need replenishing, so I have updated the list. We've already recovered many fruits and herbs, so the list changes daily. Check it daily if you can!

Little by little, we are helping the people of illarion with bulk supplies, cheap prices and a happy, neutral location, so they can do what they do best without the time spent doing what we do best! Thank you all for helping! Keep up the good work! I'll be in runewick if you need me today!

Ah Mas is over! Thank the Gods, and now back to another year of farming, gathering and trading!

At the end of Chos, we got a new member, Cassidy Eshorn. Cass is a novice mage in Runewick looking to earn some extra coins by gathering some things for us as she is able. As I explained to her and another aspiring mage just today, we are always happy to help the "Little Guy". I helped them both with some charity food and some coin to help them on their way. I hope they find their feet and perhaps help us a little on their way too! Welcome Cassidy to the Guild!

We started this year by paying Half-hung Bryan 300 bottles of fine Beer as part of the rental agreement. We are now paid up for the office until Olos, 51. He is quite pleased with the events and monthly markets!

We also had a good market day. We sold all the Egg Dishes and Salmon Dishes and got an order for 500 more! It's always good when customers can find what they need here! Otherwise, an uneventful day. I've collected many supplies today and updated the list. Be sure to look and get what's needed!

This new year will be good, I can sense it. Not only will our stocks increase, but I am looking forward to having our first Yeomen. A Yeoman is a trusted member of the guild, which will also be able to hold inventory, conduct trade and take customer orders. Having more people to trade with at different times will be better for our customers and the guild. It will decentralize the inventory and allow more access. It will be a great benefit!

Anyways, I hope to see many of you soon! Keep up the good work and safe journeys!

Ah! A nice 'quiet' farmer's Market this day! After some supply changes and updates, and a chat with some visitors, there was a treasure map dug up on the Inn grounds! You never know where those things are buried! Well, the foes were dispatched quickly and peace ensued.

One gentleman had come to sell us his herbs. I informed him that the guild does not buy from anyone but members, it is a benefit of membership, that only members get the above market value for their goods. We do sell to everyone though. He was disappointed, but understood. I'd just like to remind you all that we pay double what the town merchants do for the items on our list, so it is a benefit for you!

Well, the list is updated. A slow week and quiet month in general. Tanos is here, so the rains will fill our rivers and fields, so we can plant in earnest soon!

In celebration of this next month, I would like to start something, a 'special' if you like for members. How about a 'Item of the month"? I'll name one "Item" we are in need of for the month, and it will pay you 30% value for this month only! That is above the price we sell to customers! So, without further adieu....

Tanos item of the month.... "Eggs"
Eggs are sacred to the goddess Tanora, and to us too! We are in dire need of eggs for those excellent Egg Dishes! Get Eggs to me, and you will get 30% value for them, instead of the 20% value for this month only! (Sales at the next "Farmer's Market" still count)

Go find those eggs and hope to see you all at the Harbor Feast later this month! Eggcellent!!
