            • ~Membership~
Merchants and proficient craftsmen may join the Chamber as members to get access to these workers who will provide us with what we need to provide 'high quality' goods to our customers. Job Orders will also be posted that members may access. The Chairman or his Representatives will organize workers, members and resources to fill Orders. After expenses are paid, and the Order is filled, profits are kept by the Chairman for the treasury.

Current Benefits of membership:
Access to Workers and Materials
Access to Tools in the Guildhall
Access to Orders and Income
Access to cut trees within TrollsBane City Limits
Accesss to Mining in Vashikar
Access to Farm Fields at the Farmer's Union
Access to like-minded individuals
Access to "Special Deals" from time to time
Ability to bid on, purchase and trade "Shares"
10% Discount on purchases from members

Members are divided by real 'Craft' and skill level. Members who are proficient ((Green level)) in a craft are listed and Masters of their craft ((Yellow Level)) are indicated as well. Shareholders are the 'owners' and 'mangers' of that particular crafting area for the Guild. Guild Officers have keys to the Guildhouse, just ask to use the workshop. Traders and Officers work for the Guild as a whole for the benefit of all.

          • ~Charities and Philanthropy~
Charities:
New Hope Charity - A charity located at Goldburg Abbey which feeds and clothes the poor and helps newcomers to the island.

Famine Fund - A stockpile of stored Food for future use for Gobaith during Famine, Flood or Drought. Currently - 1500 Grain, 1500 Flour & 434 Loaves of Bread stored

Philanthropy:
Trollsbane Arborer - Pay 5 Silvers a week, a person employed to plant 20 trees a week for the City of Trollsbane.
            • New Haven Project
A Corporate owned developement project to create a commercial Mecca for businesses, shops and merchants. All Plans are a summation of member ideas and comments, a work in progress. This is only a rough draft of ideas until voted on.

Plan 1) "Chamber of Commerce" Guild Hall - The old property known as 'Garon's Goldsmithy' could become our new "Guild Hall". It will be available to all members and the old Guild Hall will be turned back to Trollsbane to help another Guild to get a start.

Image
Plan 2) "Bottoms Up" Tavern - The room next to 'Garons' known as the Poker Room needs something on it. I propose building a 'Gambling House' on top with Games and drinks for patrons

Plan 3) "Glassworks" Theater - The Theater needs to become active once again. I propose sponsoring local Bards to come and play weekly for the people of Trollsbane. These weekly shows would be free and encourage public relations. Other events such as 'Auctions', 'Beauty Contests' and 'Fashion Shows' could also be held and tickets sold.

Plan 4) "Goldmine" Assay Office - We could ask for donations from people in order to build an Assay Office on top of the mine which would buy-sell Ores and have a public Depot closer to the mine. I think anyone who has ever mined there, 'wishes' there was a depot closer to it.

Image
Plan 5) "Trollsbane" Plaza - We could also use a new public 'Plaza' by the teleporter. Something that welcomes people to Trollsbane and says "People are here". A gathering spot by the teleporter would be ideal. Maybe chairs, tables and fountains like at Varshikar. We would also need depots and firepits. A Large statue or fountain opposite the Teleporter would be eyecatching.

Plan 6) Shops - Around this 'Plaza' we could build several small shops and workshops to attract merchants and craftsmen. These could be sold or just rented out. We would need to encourage businesses that do not conflict with our own.

Plan 7) Coliseum - I also like the idea of a 'Coliseum' west of the current Theater. A proper place for swordsmen to show off their talents in front of roaring crowds. Maybe even have some 'monsters' there for them to fight. An area that had (respawning) monsters would be very popular but would need to be completely walled in so the monsters couldn't escape. Access could be provided by ladder, for easy getaways. The viewing area would need to be raised for others to watch in safety. Maybe the monsters could be behind three different doors- easy, medium, hard.

Image
Plan 8 ) Guardhouse - A Guardhouse at the edge of town could provide a place for Guards to sleep, jail prisoners or just to watch people as they enter the eastern Gate. Trollsbane already has a jail and as we will still be under their jurisdiction, it should suffice. The new county guards would need access to it.

Plan 9) Church - Finally, I thought a 'Church' or Temple (Like in Varshikar) for the faithful and weddings. The Library has a 'chapel' but it's too small for proper weddings. It would need to be a modest size. We would need to seek out spiritual leaders to guide us in this too.

Image
Plan 10) Marketplace - I would like to see a few open air merchant tables, placed in sight of the transporter and near the road. These tables having (static) items on them showing what we sale and a public depot. This would be a great place for our members to market their goods and buy materials.

Image
Plan 11) Apartments - I do see a need for small, that is, cheap apartments with locking doors. I think we could rent many out.

Plan 12) The Wall - I think we need a second wall around Trollsbane to make the city 'bigger' and protect everything weare building. This could keep out Golems and separate the 'city' from the 'wilderness'.

          • ~Rules and Regulations~
Article I: Mission and function of the Guild
The Chamber of Commerce is a trading and Crafting Guild of independent businessmen/businesswomen. We come together for mutual benefit, cooperation and profit, while at the same time providing people with jobs and funding charity and philanthropic pursuits.

The Chamber remains neutral in all disputes, excepting those that affect Crafts, Business and Trade. The Chairman and Vice-Chairman speak for the Guild in public. The Chamber is not responsible for the words, deeds or intents of individual members or business partners.

The Chamber shall be headed by an elected Chairman, who shall serve for a term of two years. Vice Chairman shall be elected as a successor in case of absence or incapacitation and shall serve for two years. Members may vote on the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and issues affecting the Guild as a whole. Representatives of the Guild will be appointed by the Chairman, who shall have the powers of hiring, directing workers in a given City, Trade and payment for goods and services. They report directly to the Chairman. The Chairman shall have all other powers not expressed in these Articles.

Article II: Membership
Membership in the Guild is voluntary and shall not interfere in any way with obligations to other towns and guilds. Membership does not obligate citizenship to the City of Trollsbane.

To apply for membership, an individual must be ‘proficient’ ((Green Level)) in at least one ‘processing’ craft. These are limited to Farming, Smithing, Goldsmithing, Carpentry, Tailoring, Cooking, Glassblowing and Trading ((RP’d)), or one 'collection' craft. These are all other crafts. They simply request it from the Chairman or Vice-Chairman to get approval.

Members must agree to these Articles and Amendments. They must also agree to offer 10% off regular prices when selling to other members of the guild, or its Business Partners. They must also agree to buy and sell goods and services at the ‘mutually’ agreed prices for the benefit of all members. Cooperating on prices eliminates competition and under-selling and the Members of the Guild as a whole benefits from cooperation and ‘price-sharing’.

Benefits of membership are updated and listed in the "Membership" section.

All members, present and future agree to these Rules and Regulations by accepting membership. Ignoring or otherwise breaking the rules stated in these Articles and attached Amendments will warrant discipline in the form of suspension, fines or revocation of membership as deemed by the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Guild.

Article III: Workers
Anyone may apply for work posted by the Guild regardless of age, race, creed or disability. Pay is negotiated on an individual basis by the Chairman in person, and work is collected and paid for in like manner.

When directed, the worker will perform their job not only for the Guild, but any member of the Guild when requested. Payment will remain the same, and given by the Chairman. Workers may accept tips and bonuses for work well-done.

By accepting the position, the worker agrees to abide by the expectations of their job, perform, and be ‘present’ at least weekly. Not being seen on a weekly basis will be grounds for termination of employment and their position will be re-posted or deleted at the discretion of the Chairman.

Article IV: Customers
Customers are the life-blood of any business. Each members may choose, buy and sell to whomever they choose for prices agreed to by the guild. Members are also allowed to fulfill Guild Orders negotiated by the chairman for the posted price. Once goods are delivered to the Chairman, payment is made, regardless of delivery to the customer.

Guild Customer Orders are posted by “number”, not name to protect the privacy of our customers. Only the Chairman and Vice-Chairman will know the Guild Customers.

Business Partners are independent Towns, Guilds and Businesses who have agreed to Order, Cooperate or otherwise contribute to the Chamber. In return, they are entitled to 10% off on prices, cooperation and respect.

Article V: Incorporation
The Chamber of Commerce is a private guild owned and operated by its members. In return for their work, ingenuity and efforts, members are allowed to purchase, sell and trade "Shares" of the company. The total of "Shares" shall not exceed 15, one for each Crafting area. The Guild is therefore 'incorporated' and owned by its members.

Orders shall be divided up by the Chairman or Vice-Chairman to their respective Craft Shareholders to fill.

Shareholders, or owner of the "share" are entitled to Organize, Manage Work and Profit from Orders filled in their particular Craft area. They also have the exclusive right to post and negotiate "Prices" for their items in their Craft. Guild Officers and Tradesmen work for the benefit of the Guild and all Shareholders together.

Monies from the initial sale of shares shall be used for the Guild in its entirety.

Amendment I: Business Partner – City of Trollsbane
As a condition for the use of the Guildhall in the City of Trollsbane, they request a discount on Orders. Therefore, the City of Trollsbane and the subservient City Guard will be considered as a ‘Business Partner’ with all the rights of that status for as long as the Guild uses the Guildhall.

Amendment II: Prohibition of Explosives and Poisons
The City of Trollsbane is declaring the sale and use of explosives such as Gynk Fire illegal. There is also an ‘unwritten’ rule against the sale and use of Poison and poison weaponry. Therefore, being Headquartered in the City of Trollsbane, it is the desire of the Chamber to comply with the law, respect our ‘Business Partner’ and forbid any members from buying, selling or using Explosives, Poisons and Poisonous weapons.

---Amendment IIA: Prohibition of Sale of "Druid's Drink"
To appease the Druid Community, and to respect the 'art' of Alchemy, we shall not sell the basic 'Druid's Drink'. Instead, customers will be asked to contact the Potion Maker directly.

Amendment III: Wood cutting License
The City of Trollsbane has issued a permanent License to members of this Guild for the purpose of cutting wood within the City Walls. This benefit comes with two conditons: that no tree be cut that is next to a road or path, and that a tree be planted for every one that is killed. Members shall recieve this benefit provided they adhere to the conditions.

Amendment IV: Mining License
The City of Varshikar has issued a License to members of this Guild for the purpose of mining Iron, Coal and other things from their mine in Varshikar. This benefit is paid in full for one dwarven year and all members are expected to follow the rules and laws of Varshikar while there. Members recieve this benefit as long as they adhere to the laws of the town.

---Amendment IVA: Mining License
The Kingdom of Silverbrand has allowed us to mine in their mines as long as they can Order coal at 2 coppers each. They currently have a standing Order for coal, and hope this continues. All members are directed to respect the dwarves and obey their laws while there.

Amendment V: Other Officers
The Guild Chairman shall appoint other officers as sees fit. These officers are appointed and removed at the Chairman's discretion. They are paid positons and considered as members of the Guild 'Council' which advises the Chairman on aspects of the Guild.

Amendment VI: Extension of Credit
The Guild Chairman shall confer Credit to 'eligible' business owners of initially no more than 50 Silvers per owner. Credit can be used to purchase goods and services from the Guild only, and must be repaid over time. Payments will be negotiated depending on credit trustworthiness and ability to pay. Interest will be set at 10%, except for members which will be free. Payments to Guild members and workers shall continue as normal, with monies from Guild funds. Repayment and business success will be cause for 'increases' or 'decreases' in Credit as the Chairman determines.

---Amendment VIA: Extension of Credit - Personal Loans
The Guild Chairman shall confer coin money to 'eligible' persons of initially no more than 50 Silvers each. Interest will be set at 10% per month, except for members which will be free. To be 'eligible', a person must have lived in Gobaith 3 months and have a good and legal reputation. Only the Chairman or th Representatives may make these loans.

Amendment VII: Investments
The Guild Chairman shall recieve from members monies in the amount of 1,2,3 or 4 Gold increments. This will entitle the 'investor' member to a 'club' such as Copper, Iron, Gold or Merinium respectivly or otherwise known as a 'certificate of deposit'. These moneys will be used by the Guild at it's discretion. In return, the 'investor' shall recieve prorated annual interest of 5, 10, 15 or 20 % respectively on their money. The 'investor' has the right to withdraw all or part of their money after no less than 2 months after deposit.

            • ~Crafting Lessons~
            • (15 Crafts, recognized by the Chamber)

Basic Skills:
Campfire (no skill) - start a campfire with a hatchet and a bundle of wood on the ground in front of you. 'Use' the hatchet twice and make the fire come to life.

Fishing:
To fish, you simply have to hold a 'fishing rod' in 'both' hands. Face some water, and 'use' the fishing rod. Lizards are natural fisherman, and simply have to 'use' the water in front of them. You'll catch all manner of fish and junk items, but occasionally you may even snag a treasure map! Watch out for the occasional mummy though, they bite!

Farming:
Collecting Honey (Farming) - Face a Beehive with your bare hands. 'Use' the Beehive to dig for honey inside. Watch out though, a wild Bee may try to poison you!

Making Grain (Farming) - Get some Wheat Bundles and a flail. Hold the flail in 'both' hands with the Wheat Bundles in your belt. "Use" the flail and you'll thrash the bundles into Grain by instinct!

Planting Seeds (Farming) - With some grain or seeds in your belt, face a farmfield. Now 'Use' the Grain 'with' the Farmfield in front of you and you will plant the crops! Sometimes the ground will be too hard or cold for your seeds. Not to worry, just wait until the next month to plant that seed.

Harvesting Grain (Farming) - Hold a 'Scythe' in 'both' hands and face a dried stalk of wheat. It will be Brown instead of Greenish-Yellow color. 'Use' the Scythe to cut Wheat Bundles from the Wheat Stalk. Sometimes it will take three tries to get all the bundles.

Harvesting Crops (Farming) - Hold a 'Sickle' in your hand and face a grown crop like Cabbage, Tomatoes, Onions or Carrots. 'Use' the Sickle 'with' the crop and you will begin harvesting that crop till it's gone.

Gathering Seeds (Farming) - Hold a 'Sickle' in your hand and face a crop that has been allowed to seed. This happens when the crop is left in the ground and it decomposes to seeds. Now 'use' the sickle 'with' that seed and you will gather them until they are gone.

Cooking:
Making Flour (Cooking & Baking) - Simply stand in front of a Grindstone and hold a wooden shovel in your hand. Keep some grain in your belt and "use" the Grindstone. Like Magic, the stone will grind the grain into fine powder called Flour.

Making Dough (Cooking & Baking) - Get a bucket of water, a rolling pin and 5 pinches of flour. Stand in front of a 'baking' oven holding the rolling pin and the water and flour in your belt. 'Use' the oven. You will be making dough to bake with as if by magic!

Roasting (Cooking & Baking) - Carry some fish or pork in your belt and stand in front of a 'roasting' oven. 'Use' the oven and smoke the fish into 'smoked fish' or the pork into 'ham'.

To cook, simply start a fire. Hold a cooking spoon in your hands and 'use' it. For soups, you will need a bucket of water and ingredients on your belt. For dishes, you will only need ingredients and wooden plates. Follow the recipes closely!

To Bake, you'll need Dough, ingredients and a wooden peel. Stand in front of the 'Baking' Oven and hold the Peel in your hands. Keep the dough and ingredients on your belt. "Use" the Peel and follow the recipe you want to make.

Mining:
Mining (Mining) - Find one of the several Mines in Gobaith and face a suitable rock. With a pick-axe in hand, simply 'use' the pick-axe to start hitting the rock. Depending on the rock, you will get Iron or Copper Ores, Coal, Stones, Gold, Raw Gems or even Merinium!

Black Smithing:
Smelting (Smithing) - Carry some Coal and Ores in your belt in equal quantities. Face a 'smelting' oven and hold crucible-pincers in your hand. 'Use' the smelting oven and the ores will melt with the coal, creating ingots! You can make Copper, Iron, Gold or even Merinium Ingots!

To make anything, you will need Ingots. Usually starting with Iron ingots in your belt, you can begin making things like pins, needles and scissors. To do this, you need to hold a hammer in your hand and face an anvil. 'Use' the Hammer and decide what you want to create. Then let the hammering begin!

Gold Smithing:
Smelting (Smithing) - Carry some Coal and Ores in your belt in equal quantities. Face a 'smelting' oven and hold crucible-pincers in your hand. 'Use' the smelting oven and the ores will melt with the coal, creating ingots! You can make Copper, Iron, Gold or even Merinium Ingots!

Gem-cutting (Gemcutting) - Occasionally you will encounter raw gems that need to be cut. Face a Grinding whell with the raw gems in your belt. Hold a pair of Tongs in your hand and 'use' the wheel. The gems will either cut and polish to fine quality or break into pieces.

To make anything, you will need Ingots. Usually starting with Iron ingots in your belt, you can begin making things like goblets and later cutlery, rings, amulets, even mirrors! To do this, you need to hold a 'finesmithing' hammer in your hand and face an anvil. 'Use' the Finesmithing Hammer and decide what you want to create. Then let the hammering begin!

Gemcutting:
To cut gems is relatively easy to do, hard to master. You need to hold a pair of 'tongs' in your hand, and raw gems in your belt. Face a 'Grinding Wheel' and 'use' the grinding wheel. It will start cutting or breaking your gems. 'Gem Dust' does not come from this, but is imported at the Harbor.

Lumberjacking:
Cutting Trees (Lumberjacking) - To cut a tree, simply stand next to it and face it. With a 'Hatchet' in your hand, 'use' the hatchet to cut down the tree. Now remember the Tree will fall sideways onto someone if you're not careful!

Cutting Logs (Lumberjacking) - To cut Logs, simply stand on a fallen tree at the base, facing the top of the tree, 'use' the hatchet to cut Logs, Boughs or Branches from the fallen tree.

Carpentry:
Sawing Boards (Carpentry) - The basis of all Carpentry is to have Boards to work with. Face a 'Carpenter's Bench' with a saw in hand. Have some Logs in the belt and 'use' the table to cut your Logs into Boards.

Slicing (Carpentry) - One Half of all goods are made with a 'slicer'. Face a 'Carpenter's Bench' with a slicer in hand. Have some boards in your belt. Now, 'use' the slicer to create plates, bowls and all manner of wooden goods!

Carving (Carpentry) - The other half of Carpentry goods are made with 'Carving Tools'. Face a 'Carpenter's Bench' with te Carving Tools in hand and some Boughs or Branches in your belt. 'Use' the carving tools to make all manner of handles, sword handles, bows and fishing rods!

Tailoring:
Shearing (No skill) - holding a pair of scissors in your hand, face a sheep. 'Use' the scissors to shear the sheep. Careful! The sheep tend to move suddenly, but will stop if you are shearing them. Grab your wool!

Spinning Wool (Tailoring) - Keep some wool in your belt. Face a 'spinning wheel' and hold some scissors in your hand. 'Use' the spinning wheel to spin the wook into Balls of Wool.

Weaving (Tailoring) - Keep some Balls of Wool in your belt. Face a Loom and hold scissors in your hand. 'Use' the Loom to weave the balls into Grey cloth.

Bleaching (No Skill) - Why work, when nature will do it for you? To turn the Grey Cloth into White Cloth or Raw leather into usable leather, simply leave it out in the sun. The sun's rays will dry out and bleach the cloth or leather.

Cutting Thread (No Skill) - There are two ways to get thread. One is to 'use' some scissors in you hand to cut entrails in your belt. The second is to weave sibanic weed on a spinning wheel.

Making Dye (Tailoring) - There are several recipes to make various colored dyes, which require different things. The most common dye is Green, made from cabbages. Simply face a campfire, with a mortar in your hands. Have a bucket of water and your ingredients in your belt. 'Use' the mortar and make the dye you wish. The ingredients will cook over the fire and dye the water that color.

Dyeing Cloth (Tailoring) - You will need some white cloth in your belt and a 'dyer's Wand' in both of your hands. Face a single barrel, and have the bucket of Dye in your belt. 'Use' the barrel and the dye will cover the cloth, changing it's color.

To make anything, you will need cloth, usable leather or furs as well as thread. Starting with these items in your belt and a needle in your hands, face a 'tailoring table'. "Use" the needle and select the pattern you'd like to cut, sew and make.

Glassblowing:
Making Glass Ingots (Glassblowing) - To begin, you'll need fine quartz sand and ash in your belt. With a Brick Mold in your hand, simply face a 'Glass Smelting Oven' and 'use' it. The sand and ash will melt equally into glasss ingots.

To Make anything with the Glass Ingots, You'll need a 'Glass Blow Pipe'. Facing the Glass Smelting Oven, 'use' the Glass Blow Pipe and try to create all kinds of Bottles, Beer mugs and even Vases! There are not many things to make in this craft, so be patient!

Herbology:
Collecting Herbs (Herb Lore) - To collect herbs, simply hold a sickle in your hand and face a plant you wish to search. now 'use' the sickle and you will begin to search. Most plants are too difficult when you are starting, but practice makes perfect!

Potion Making:
Making Potions (Alchemy) - Seek another Alchemist to teach these secrets to you.

Candle Making:
Smelting Wax (No Skill) - The process of good candles begins with good bees-wax. Face a 'Chandler' Table and hold a crucible pincers in your hand. With Honey in your belt, simply 'use' the table and the honey will be melted into wax.

Making Candles (No Skill) - The Art of making candles is relatively easy. Face the 'Chandler Table'. Holding a 'Candle Mold' in your hands, and smelted wax in your belt, 'use' th candle mold to form your candles.

Fireing Bricks:
Making Bricks (Fireing Bricks) - Maing Bricks is fairly simple, but requires some skill to do it right. Face a 'Glass Smelting Oven' with a brick mold in your hand. Hopefully you collected some clay, because you'll need it in your belt. 'Use' the 'Brick Mold' and form your set of five 'unfired' bricks. In a moment under the heat, they will bake into 5 'fired' bricks.

For attempts to burn down Eliza's Shop and the Smithy, Rurgon the Orc is hereby fired as a supplier of leathers and threads to the Chamber. We disavow any association with him, will not trade further with him nor offer any sanctuary for him. He has broken the Laws of Trollsbane and Civil Behavior.

He had such potential as a worker when he was hired, it saddens me to do this. However, the image of the Guild is fr the Good of people, not sponsoring criminal activity.

I ask that all members beware of this Orc and do not trade with him. He will likely be banned from the city soon.

Today, Celdea and I planted 27 trees for Trollsbane. It was nice to work together. I'd love to see more of you in the Guildhall.

I have updated the Order list and recieved more orders, especially for our carpenters and smiths. I have also added some Crafting Lessons for newcomers concerning Basic Skills, Cooking and Baking. I'll add more later, or feel free to contribute by sending me the lesson by Dove.

We are getting quite a few workers, so send me a dove as to what you need from them and I'll do my best to get it to you.

I have also added "Special" deals for members only under "Partnerships & Charities". Bulk goods and items that we have surplus for sale cheap.

Good things are happening, and a customer even complimented us on the fine work we are doing! Keep up the good work!

Good evening all!

I have this night rented the Kitchen at the Seahorse Inn for the Chamber! It is a wonderful "indoor" place to roast fish or make those tasty dinners everyone likes. Better yet, there is a depot next to it, and it is a quiet place to work!

I will be moving my 'cooking' operations and supplies to the kitchen at the Seahorse. Its better than cooking in the rain. If you need me, I will either be there, or at the Bake oven at Elizas, or at the Guildhouse.

Thank you!
~Bernie

PS - I hired Alysandra Whyte, to fish for us. She is a newcomer mage to the Isle, and we wish her all he best!

We will have to postpone the meeting by three dwarven days. Several members expressed that this would be a better time and day to hold meetings.

((Meeting will be: Saturday @ 1700 GMT))

We will be meeting in the Guildhall.

Orders keep coming in, and we are trying to fill them as best as we can. We have 8 non-member workers now and open to hiring more. The supplies they bring in will help. Keep up the good work!

Thank you!

I have updated some Orders and also posted two new 'special deals' for members.

I have also posted open jobs for a stonemason and brickmaker. We will want to offer building materials to our customers in the future, and with these two jobs, we can.

~Bernie

PS: I just hired a lizardwoman named Zitori as an apprentice smith. She is new to the Isle, and we wish her well in her endeavors! Welcome!

I have hired a human named Dell Granger as a cook. He isn't quite new, but has been away recovering in the hospital. You will find him at one of the community firepits. Grab a log and talk with him. He will be working on some orders with me. Welcome Dell!

I have also this night, been informed of an attack upon Jym Goldman by the Orc Rurgon. Please be careful! In light of this and the mugging of Jonah last night, we need to learn how to defend ourselves. To that end, I have created a "Master of Arms" position and recruited Pug Fosse as a member to join us as our trainer and Head of Security.

In the coming weeks, he will train those willing, how to defend themselves and he will be in charge of security at our meetings. He has a noble and pure heart, and we are delighted to have him with us. Welcome Pug!

Thanks,
~Bernie Bottoms

We just recieved a large order from customer #14 for 2000 Arrows and 2000 Throwing stars. This is a good opportunity for our smiths and carpenters.

There are so many Doves to send, I am out of them! I'm also going to use this opportunity of our Guildboard to send out special messages to all our members and workers. Please look for your name.

@Zitori and Zach - please begin working on these throwing stars instead of the pins. Make as many as you can.

@Jym - Keep up the great work on the arrows, but can you do some throwing stars too? Maybe 500? I'll do the arrows for this Order.

@Phibol - Need Iron Ores as soon as possible. We have 750 coal and no Iron.

@Lucy and Radu - Please step up the collection of thread. We will need a lot for ths Order.

@Merri & Sam - You need to see me as soon as possible. We need to complete those apple pie orders.

@Dell - See me as soon as you can bake apple pies. I've got dough for you and we'll collect honey and apples for you to begin baking.

@Celdea - Can you collect some honey for us? You and you're mum are so good at it, I would appreciate it.

@Seori and William - I haven't seen you guys in a few days. Are you still working? If I don't see you by week's end, I will consider you inactive and re-post your jobs.

@Alysandra, Jonah and Pug - keep up the good work!

Thank you all for the great work!

Great News!

I have this day, negotiated a mining license for members from the Town of Varshikar! Their mine is located north-east of the castle and it is mule-friendly. We can legally get Iron and Coal now in quantity.

The License is paid in full for the dwarven year! I have added this benefit as an amendment IV in the rules and regulations.

Please respect the laws of their town while there. Thank you!

I've updated the Orders and deleted delivered or cancelled ones. Thanks for all the work on the stars guys! They are 1/2 done with more coming, ahead of schedule!

I hve also posted 'Amendment V' concerning the appointment of officers, such as Pug as Master of Arms. I am also considering a "Trade Ambassador" who will travel to Guilds and Towns and negotiate trade contracts with them. It has to be a person skilled in negotiations, high charisma and speak both the old and new languages.

Remember, we have a meeting in two dwarven days! ((Saturday at 1700 GMT)) We will meet at theGuild hall.

Thank you all for the great work!

For her excellent trading skills, abilities and charisma, Celdea Luyten is hereby appointed as Trade Ambassador. She will travel to other towns and guilds and negotiate trade contracts with them to increase our customer base.

Also, for excellent work above and beyond his normal duties, and his skill at Farming, Jonah Stephens Furryfoot is hereby promoted to full membership. This entitles him to all the benefits of membership. Congratulations!

Good news is always welcome. At the meeting tomorrow, we shall discuss a common 'price' list to cooperate with, we will discuss the 'rules and regulations', and a crazy idea I have for raising money for the 'company' while sharing ownership as well, and then discuss ideas for better defence for our workers.

See you all at the meeting! ((Saturday @1700 GMT))

I have just added one 'Major Craft" - Potion-Making and seven "Minor Crafts" to the 'membership' section. This makes 15 Craft areas in total. Let me know ASAP if I forgot one.

Anyway, I was talking with a member last night and it occured to me that the guild operates because of one person. This needs to change so the Guild will continue past a single person. My idea for improving the Guild lies with giving ownership to you, the members. As members, you all have benefits, except one. The ability to fix prices and make profit off of the Orders. It's something I currently do and this needs to change now. My 'prices' are too low by any standards, and profits have gone into a 'guild' pool of money to pay workers, licenses and trade. A guild should never be based upon one person.

I propose we issue "Shares" of the "Company" to members only, no outsiders. 15 Crafts equals 15 Shares. Each "Owner" would then be managers and profit makers. The "Shares" that are not purchased will be managed by me as "Chairman", until sold at auction. Members may purchase more than one share, but only at the next "Auction". Once the shares are purchased, thats it. The money from the "Auctions" will remain in a Guild Treasury for "Guild" purchases like licenses or rent.

Here's how it would work:
You pay say...50 Silvers...to "Own" a "share" of the Guild. You then select the available "Craft" you wish to "Own" like Lumberjacks or Smithing (Depends on order of choice). As "Owner", you will be responsible for setting prices of that 'Craft', organizing & paying workers of that craft, and keeping the profits of all sales for that "Craft".

Orders will come in as usual from customers to the Guild as a whole, and those parts of the Orders pertaining to your "Craft", will be up to you to fill, price and sell.
Example: An Order comes in for 500 Arrows and 500 Throwing Stars. The "Owners" of "Carpentry" and "Smithing" would set the price, organize the workers and fill the Order. They would keep the profits.

The Trade ambassador and other officers will continue to work for the "Guild" as a whole, work wanted will be posted, workers hired, etc. Nothing changes. Everyone still works together to fill Orders, just it will be the "Owners" who will ask, organize and distribute work and payment.

This way all members who wish to, may own, manage and share in the profits of the "Craft" of their choosing. Even if they are not 'proficient' in it (But it's best if they are).

It is impossible to determine 'how much' the shares will cost, because some "Crafts" (Like Smithing) are more profitable than others (Like Candlemaking). The only way to do this fairly, would be to hold an Auction. Highest "Bid" gets first choice, second bid get second....and so on. This way even someone who bids "a silver" at Auction will at least get a "choice". The ideal is for ALL members to own a "share" of the Guild. The Prices of the "Shares" would be posted and can be 'sold' or 'traded' to other members later like Property, with prices going up or down. With only 15 shares available, I can see that the price of each 'share' will only increase in value.

It's a crazy idea, but it makes sense from a "Management/Ownership" standpoint. As fast as we are growing, I can't continue to manage everything, nor would I want to.

What do you all think? Shall we hold our first auction at the meeting tomorrow? Let me know on this board. This is something I think we could all benefit from. A "Member" owned business.

Just an idea!

Tonight, I have made a 'business partnership' with the Farmer's Union. They will get 10% discount on any Orders in exchange for the use of their fields. This will be a good use of mutual resources and both of us benefit.

The meeting wan't as good as planned. I had hoped to discuss ideas with you all and get input on future improvements. Well, considering this, I can only assume that everything is alright and to proceed as normal.

We will not 'Arm' craftsmen, but rely upon the town Guards of the towns. Through our support, we can help to increase, arm and pay the guards.

I have also decided to implement my idea and 'incorporate' or sell "shares" to you the membership. The money will be used for the Guild as a whole. I have added the "Incorporation" as Article V in the rules, and updated the pages.

There are only 15 Shares available, and you may send a dove to me with your bid. The "highest" bid will be posted under the "Charities" section. You may bid anything to get a spot, but please remember, that these shares may increase in value as the company does well.

Each Auction will be by dove and last exactly one week starting today. ((Every Saturday)) On the next week-end, the Bidders will be notified of their 'placement' so they can choose their "share". Then the Auction will commence again until all the shares are gone. Only one "share" choice per Auction and only to members.

I really think this idea will get more of you involved in the management and ownership of the Guild. It will be for the best.

Faithfully yours,
~Bernie Bottoms

I have accepted two new members into the Guild. All welcome Zitori, a proficient Smith and Carpenter, and Vungar, a proficient Orc Fisherman. They are both welcome!

I also have recieved Orders for more arrows, throwing stars, gold nuggets and even fish! Please continue working on these Orders and we can fill them all! We are almost done with the largest Order ever, the 2000 Arrows and 2000 stars Order! Who else could have filled such a huge Order in less than a week! I'm very proud of you all! Just 400 stars to go, and I can deliver them.

Good news. There was a dispute yesterday when the 'builders' of the Guildhall showed up. I have talked to the Viceroy about the Guildhall, and he reassures me that we will not lose it. Trollsbane owns the property, and has allowed us the use of it.

Be sure to put in your bids on 'shares'. I already have 3 bids, and more to come!

@Jonah - wow! You really planted a lot of trees! However, it is a lot, so can we limit the trees to only 20 per week? Thanks buddy.

@Jym - Can you make 500 Arrows for this week? I have Zitori making them too, but we have so much to make. Thanks!

@Dell, Alysandra and William - You guys need to see me please. We have to meet!

Keep up the great work!

Great News! Our Trade Ambassador, Celdea has secured a mining contract with the Kingdom of Silverbrand! We are now allowed to use their mines, and in exchange, they will buy coal from us for 2 coppers and give us food too. This is wonderful start to expanding our services to other parts of Gobaith!

If you know anyone who'd like to try mining, now's the time to get them involved!

I will be mining this week, mostly in the Trollsbane mine, but also mining coal for Silverbrand. Send me a dove for anything important.

Thanks Celdea!

Zitori has finished the last of the stars and I can deliver that huge Order. Thanks to Jym and Zitori. I have also updated the Orders by deleting ones done, and or cancelled. There are two Orders we could not do for lack of Tomatoes and Onions until the Spring. The customers will be notified.

Also, I haven't seen some of the workers, and they will be fired if not seen by me or another member this week. If anyone sees Dell Granger, Alysandra, or William, send me a dove. Otherwise, their jobs will be re-posted and new workers sought. Keeping workers current and active is a necessary part of our business. We invest too much time, money and material to have them work only a day or two. We all need to keep in contact with them and keep them working to keep them employed. Newcomers always need the encouragement and a task to do, and we provide that with our jobs.

All in all, the business is doing well and we have hired some excellent workers (now members) such as Jonah and Zitori! It pleases my heart when newcomers turn out to be such fine members. Let's strive for all our newcomers to be like them!

@ Jym and Zitori - How are you doing on the 500 arrows for this week? Jym, I have Ores and Coal and leather for you when you can meet me. Send me a dove.

@Samuel - I know you are very busy, but can we finish those apple pies soon?

@Celdea - Wonderful work on the mining contract with the Dwarves. Can you visit Vanima and see what they need? I just sold an elf a whole lot of dyed cloth, nails and dough. Seems they may be in need of some things. Maybe something regular can be arranged?

@Jonah, Vungar, Samson and Phibol - how are you all doing on your work? Philbol, I need some help with mining Coal this week. Please send me a dove.

@Radu and Lucy Bann - The next step for you guys is to join the Guard. Aeris, the captain, said he'd be glad to have you two as recruits. If you two go together to the mummies, Take some scissors. I'll buy all the entrails (Thread is lighter) and cloth you collect. Thank you both for your great work. If only 'butchering' was a craft, I'd make you two members. Let me know if you become proficient in anything else, and we'll accept you.

@ Everyone - again, I can't stress how important it is to get your 'bids' in for a choice of shares. I don't want any members to miss out. We will end this auction this weekend ((Saturday)) and start another next week for the rest of them.

I'll be mining a lot at Trollsbane and Varshikar, so thank you all for the work you do, and we'll meet soon.

Well, working hard at Mining, but I am still getting requests for work and Orders. Mining also lets me think of ways to improve our operation. I have had a 'brilliant' idea, and I wanted to share it with you.

As a "Chamber of Commerce", we not only provide jobs and member benefits, but by pooling our resources, we an also form partnerships with businesses. This we do already. However, "Private Businesses" often do not have enough money to start, that's where we can help them too.

We can offer "Credit" to start-up businesses to order supplies and services through our Guild, and pay the "loan" back at a future date with interest. The "Credit" would start at 50 Silvers per "eligible" Owner of the Business involved with interest of 10%. "Eligible" Owners are those who have resided on the Island for at least 3 Dwarven months. Payment would be negotiable based on their income and how well the business does.

As a benefit to "members" who start businesses, I suggest "no interest" loans for members and up to 50% "Cash Advance" for them. We should take care of our own.

As businesses pay back the "Credit" and their businesses succeed, we can increase their "Credit" over time.

I think this will help those few businesses who just need a little help to get started.

I have already offered "100 Silvers" credit to two of our members, who want to start-up a Restaurant for TrollsBane which will be opening soon at the Seahorse Inn. Whether they accept or reject the offer, we hope they succeed! Gobaith could always use more businesses.

Best wishes to you all,

I've done a little re-organizing to the main Boards, adding a "Finance and Member Deals" page. The Member Auction is there too.

@Workers Board
I've also updated the worker list adding pay for different jobs. This may help recruit new workers.

I have also fired Dell Granger, Alysandra Whyte, William and Phibol for lack of work and failure to show up. Nothing to be done about it, people just lose interest in what we ask them to do.

I have hired Eli Huff as a miner and smith, who is a newcomer and will be working with us as he finds his feet! Welcome!

@Charities Board
I have removed Brother Zebanon from our support, as no one has seen him in some time.

@Financial Board
I am adding a 'financial Prospectus' section to let you know how we are doing from month to month. This is Chos, so the figures are 'speculated' for now.

I am also adding the "Credit to businesses" section as well as a listing of "Warehoused goods" under an "Assets" section.

Well, as I continue to work on those mining Orders, let's not forget the others. We need plenty of arrows and throwing stars, there seems to be a huge demand for them.

Also, don't forget to put in a bid to 'own' and 'manage' a part of the Guild. Bidding this week ends this weekend, and the best choices will be taken! High Bid for first choice is currently 30 Silvers. I can't tell you how much faith I have that these shares will be worth more than 30 pieces of silver!

Well, back to the mines and my crazy ideas!
