Downloading Illarion

Post by Flint Stoneside »

I have no computer skills at all. Just got a "new" computer. New to me but it is old. I downloaded the windows 32 bit version. When I go to run it the box pops up saying preparing install4j wizard, the bar fills up but once it is full the box disappears and nothing else p-ops up. I tried several times with the same result. Any and all help is appreciated.

I found this, is this the problem?

Until someone more knowledgeable comes along... try upgrading your graphic card to the latest, make sure it can do Shaders 2.0 and open GL as these instructions say:

http://illarion.org/general/us_faq_general.php#gs3

Make sure you download the java for your computer.. if 32, java for 32.. if 64 you will need java for 64 according to some that posted previously.

You can check whether your system is 32-bit or 64-bit by right-clicking the windows icon in the lower-left corner of your screen and then selecting "system" from the list that appears.
It will be listed as "System type: " in the window that will appear when doing so.

I am sorry but I can not figure out for the life of me if my computer even has OpenGL or Shaders 2.0 or even how to get it. This is so aggravating. I hate computers. I'm just going to have to go with PO Tialdin's suggestion and buy a cheap notebook once I can afford it. This is ridiculous. I hate computers. >.<

Also, thank you to Brightrim. I did atleast figure out that my computer is 32 bit.

And maybe all this crap below means something to someone and you can help me get back to Illarion. Because this is all I can find about my computer and it is jibberish to me.

Welcome back, we've missed you!

These should be the latest drivers for your computer, you'll want the second one down:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/produc ... ss-Chipset

Your chipset should support OpenGL.

I am wondering if your problem is one of two things. Either you need to update to the latest version of Java or are you running the PC with admin rights?

Hello,

that is something else. Something is messing with the data transfer. Do you have any kind of fancy firewall or anti-virus solution in place that may intercept the network transfer?

Best regards,
Nitram
