Weather = computer lag?

Post by Retlak »

Just out of curiosity if anyone else is now suffering from lag in any weather other than "normal" since the update of yesterday?

under any roof is fantastic, back up to fps rate of 60, but then stepping into the outdoors brings the fps down to around 5, and my whole computer seems to slow down in loading anything at all.

Not very nice as it seems to rain more than England in Illa.

Please let me know your thoughts anyone else.

Many thanks

Rains way too much. The lag makes it so I cant play. I just stand in one place and wait for it to go, then hope not to be caught somewhere dangerous when it starts back up.

Yes i lag a little bit too during the heavy rain storms, but i do like the weather in Galmair makes you think twice about steping out doors, staying inside and drinking beer i recomend.

The shader handling the rain is currently not working that well. You need a very powerful graphics card to allow it to be displayed without slowing the game and/or your computer down.

Its a work in progress but I fear currently you'll have to cope with it. Sorry.
I am trying to improve it, but as I lack a slow computer with a weak graphics card I can't really test it. ^^

If you're on AM3+/Z68 etc. you could just unplug your gpu and run onboard graphics.

Any chance of disabling weather / rain while it is a bit demanding on cpu please?

I would normally put up with it, but you really don't know how stressful it is trying to play the game when it lags this much, half the commands and walking functions don't work during, and my computer isn't even that bad.

I'm certainly sure the newbies might not stick around if their experience of illa is as frustrating as it is for me :(

I have a medium class graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 5770) that runs most games without problems in high quality and full HD and I experience lag during rain...

I don't experience lag but my laptop overheats like crazy. More than what most modern 3D games I mean.

GTX 570 Phantom graphics card here, and board+cpu are fast.
Risen 2 runs very well with highest graßhics settings, illarion lags no matter the displayed weather.
Before the last update, the un-improved rain ran fine on my machine (lagfree).
The first time i experienced some Mega-Lag several monsters (quickly running spiders) were onscreen.

Illarion's new rain shaders are a great new alternative to Prime95.

The lag yesterday was caused by the server, not by the client.

Should be resolved now anyway.
