The settings of your screen resolution depend on the Operating System you use. If you are using windows, you should change your client settings. Windows systems usually don't offer you a 24bit color setting.

In windows, you can use 16 and 32 bit. Usually, your system settings should stay at 32 bit. Set the client to the same. Usually Linux systems use 24 bit setting instead of 32 bit.

Who does that? >_>

Right click your desktop and click properties, you can change your resolution from there. Make sure it's greater or equal to 1024x768. Make sure it's 32 bit. Then choose those options.

Well it should work...

1. Try playing it on windowed mode

2. Try updating the video card drivers (maybe the driver you're using isn't OpenGL friendly)

Nah, actually some people(including me) appear to have problems with the newer versions of Java Runtime as it seems it likes to break the connection to the entire server each time I'd try to login with a newer version.

I've been running Illarion happily on J2re 1.4.2_19

So I doubt it has much to do with java being up to date.

The time I had that problem, I discovered it was firewall related.
