Not allowed to sign in when joined!

My friend joined, and tried to make a new character, but it wouldn't let her past step 1. Also, when she tried it again a little later, she couldn't sign in, even though she knew her username and password. What's up?

She has to use her CHARACTER name and password, not her username and password to login through the java client.

On the question though, i've personally got no idea what's wrong there, was there any sort of error message the first time?

All it says is this in the box:

"Character creation step 1 close

9 #document null"

. . . I'm not sure what that means . . .
