Hello,

To answer some question concerning the new armour skills:

1.)
You can learn all three skills. You are not stucked with the one you picked. You will just start at 0 with the other two skills.

2.) What is good against what?

Light armour is good agaist wrestling attacks and concussion weapons. It is not so good against puncture and distance weapons. It is bad against slashing weapons.

Medium armour is good against slashing weapons. It is not so good against werstling, concussion weapon. Bad against puncture and distacen weapons.

Heavy armour is good against puncture and distance weapons. It is not so good against slashing weapons. Bad against against wrestling and concussion weapons.

Have fun beating up each other,
Jupiter

_______

Hallo,

Paar Antworten zu den neuen Rüstungsskills:

1.)
Man kann alle drei Skills lernen. Mit den anderen fangt ihr halt nur bei Null an.

2.) Was ist gut wogegen?

Jupiter

Thank you for the hard work. Not wanting to be max or not care much for the 'highest" but just wanting to continue with a certain armor and weapon for RP purposes I see the update allows that so am very pleased.

edited.. are we though required to wear armor and have no defense now without it where before we had some dodge. Can we also add skirt, dress and maybe cloak to armor similar to shirt/blouse?

Since items do not display there types and levels in shops or in the menu before creating them. Could this be changed so that we don't have to create every single item to try and find what is what?

or provide us a a list in the meantime? ^^

How to raise the different armor type skills? Just wearing one and fighting in it?

armors have different level given in the description..
use the proper type and level of armor while fighting..
this is what i roughly understood from what the DEVs were saying during the update in IRC

Welches Attribut hängt mit den Rüstungskills zusammen? Schnelligkeit wie beim Ausweichen oder ein anderes?

There is no lead attribute for armour skills. They usea default value.

There was a small bug. A hotfix resolved that already.

Following changes were made:
medium armor bad against concussion/wrestling -> not so good against concussion/wrestling

heavy armour not so good against werstling/concussion -> bad against werstling/concussion

ok just a logic question... why would heavy armor be not so good against slashing?? I would thing it's stronger or at least average against slashing otherwise makes heavy armor utterly useless.

You would think heavy armor good against concussion and wearing the light would be best for archers hence good against arrows...but who said it had to make sense.

As additional information:

It is not possible to level your armor skills while wearing armor ABOVE your current skill lvl.
eg.: using a lvl 100 medium armor, but only having 10 % medium skill.

not really alot of actual warriors use medium and concussion is increasing due to magic ones being released.

btw are Magic blunt weapons released with this update? as well as snake spear and divine voulge?

For metal armor

medium = 800 weight
heavy = 1200 weigh

?

The type of armour should be written in the lookat. The lookats in the crafting windows should be updated soon. You shouldn't trust the weight too much atm. some of them don't fit to the armourclass yet.

Well by the looks of this rating it seems concussion is the way to go... having two armors classes that arent' good against it. but it makes sense getting hit with a heavy blunt thing would hurt a lot more than a blade. what I'm wondering is does wearing all three provide bonuses for each?

Not sure where to report this.. will just list it here. Five people, three archers, two with medium skill, one high, two melee high end skill and after 10 minutes a Gynk spider only slightly wounded. We all gave up.

Five ran across a troll archer.. one wound up at the cross and the rest left per portal. As it is, put a damper on the map hunt.

I've had no trouble killing Gynkese widows or trolls archers, they are both quite easy to defeat, I was using light armor and a concussion weapon in any case.

Apparently some monsters now do regenerate health, which makes them much more annoying to kill. Troll archers do not as far as i could tell but Gynkese widows may. Your group may need to break out there good gemmed weapons in order to take down baddies now as the damage is lower overall.

Edit: scratch that, twas the shadowmuncher i killed. The Gynkese widow by the road does seem to take almost no damage but also doesn't seem to be regenerating any health.

killed troll archers easy but gynk widows are ridiculous, 93 slashing with magic serinjah and fought for about 5 mins and only slightly wounded, another time even had strength pot and still nothing, gynk widows are currently invincible... seriously invincible!

Thanks for everyone's input. Good to know it is the monster that is the problem.

Every weapon type has a weapon class being bad and a class being nto so good against it.

And it depends what part of your body is hitted. If you have armour type x for your head and your head i hitted,m you learn skill x.

On the widow:
A party of three guys killed her. However, it looks really kinda strong compared to other monsters (it isn't even one of the regenerating monsters).

I'd like to outline some things, and also ask some questions since it's been about 2 months since Alex and I hammered out the details.

Every item type in a certain tier is equal. All lvl 100 conc weapons are equally as strong as lvl 100 slash and puncture weapons (and vice versa). This removes the decade old issue of Slashing dominating since it literally had the best items. Now there are more options for people who want to wear/use certain items but still want to be the best.

Crafting was changed some to better balance creating items. For example, Battle staffs were very powerful but required minimum effort while magic slashing weapons required the world. Now, All weapons/shield/chests/helmets lvl 90 and above require merinium + element. Players can still max crafts as before without using merinium/elements by crafting lvl 80-89 items. Requiring these very difficult resources made it nearly impossible.

All new prices are based on a formula that is variable to cost of resources. So you may see some noticeable jumps in prices but they are mathmatically justified =)

Lastly, there are still some items that need to be added. Medium armor got particularly screwed. There are so few items for us to work with when breaking down armor classes and we simply couldnt distribute the 6 gloves in game in a good manner. So know that gloves and boots will be added to the classes that are currently lacking. Same thing for light armor not currently having a lvl 100 helmet. The graphics are done afaik, so hopefully they will be in game soon. I believe I am supposed to be making recipes for them.

There are no lvl 100 boots/gloves/leg armors. At the moment these aren't planned but I'm certain our graphics people could make some awesome stuff =). The best set for each armor is;
lvl 100 helm
lvl 100 chest armor
lvl 90 boots
lvl 90 gloves
lvl 90 legs

Again, this is because of the lack of items we had to work with.

Now for some questions since I'm sure the details have changed since.

How exactly does item degradation work?

How exactly does skill gain work? If I attack someone with a lvl 0 training weapon and we are both ~70, will I learn any weapon skill? Will my opponent learn any armor skill?

I was told using over your level weapons would not skill you, while using under your level will still work. However as I've experienced the other day, I didn't seem to earn much (if any at all) skill with a low level weapon, while one that was 30 levels higher than my skill actually levelled me faster. How is this calculated?
Also I noticed theres a "general" armor category for drow helmets. How is the skill requirement categorized for this seeing it is a level 80 helmet yet doesn't state if your skill is too low?

I dont know for sure, but when I last spoke with alex for drow or in future "general" armor, it just takes your highest armor skill. So if you need lvl 80 as long as one of your skills is 80 or higher, then you're fine.

Well, I did use a lvl 90 weapons and my skill is about 54. And I did learn something during the quest yesterday. Appearently this doesnt count for Weapons, but for Armors mayhaps?

you cannot skill wit wooden swords (or other lv 0 weapons) if you haf 40+ same with armor, armor should be as near your skill as you can get but not higher as you wont learn a thing. and there is a 100lv light helmet =P its the horned helmet. but new items are always welcome and hopefully for Blunt weapons too, skilling with them will be hard as there isn't many for lv variations. and we need more magic hammers or maces! or even a morning star of fire or light!
