Farming and you: No more seasons | Keine Jahreszeiten mehr

Post by Vilarion »

Hello all,

Seasons have been deactivated with regard to farming. So you can now grow your pumpkins whenever you want.

Have fun playing,
Vilarion

-----------------------

Hallo zusammen,

I am unable to read German.

Are the seasons gone for good?

May I ask why? What prompted this change?

The seasons for farming have been removed, because some crops were not available for two RL months. Despite all realism, this can seriously hinder players who only play once a while.

How does this type of decision impact other "seasonal" type things like herbs?

If the translator is working, I don't think there was any mention of other seasonal items, a good link to keep handy though I think there are others around also, of course none are perfect. http://translate.google.com/

I try translators, I've never had any luck with any.

My point is, the seasons are a major part of the game as in life, we aren't able to simply remove them. This forces people to buy from other people if they are not able to farm their own. If we are to remove the seasons for farming then all seasonal requirements should be removed as they make no sense.

The characters work hard to farm and store reserves before winter. Removing this pressure is very nice indeed. But why is food the only concern? Why are the druids not a concern either?

Let me know if mistaken but the higher the herb skill, the more can be picked in the winter? I know my char can only pick one or two herbs in the winter with an almost yellow skill but have heard that others could pick more. This is unlike farmers who couldn't plant at all.

I have noticed that myself actually. This is only my theory though. Certain herbs that are easier to get in general I was able to get. Example being yellow weeds, foot leafs, the easy ones  But the more difficult ones I had no luck with. Again, I have no idea how the game really works but that's what I've experienced.

That would make the herbs more skill then season related like farmer which no matter how high the skill some things just couldn't be planted certain seasons. Should that be changed also i.e. I realize the farmer needed to be changed related to casual players, but most expect the need to build skill, even casual players need this.
