Grokk ... this sounds personal. If you have questions to address to me personally, please PM me. I won't answer them in a public discussion about something else.

It has made an impact but nothing else can be said. People talked about many issues here and many viewpoints were shared. If nothing else reading this will get people thinking about current OOC situations and in game ones..

Kamilar. Please refrain from posting personal remarks about me and Marius from now on. I do not appreciate the hostile behavior.

I think both sides have made a few logical point here, but no one is really listening to each other. Ah, it is like I never went AWOL for a year and a half.

It does sound as though it is starting to become personal. So far we have had an expansion to the jail so prisoners can rp together at least. Unfortunately jailing is a large part of the game and is one that really is difficult to work with. If you committed a crime you have to be jailed. I just think there is no reason the character has to be completely gone for the week. I do agree that for larger crimes, yes, serve the punishment, you do have 4 other possible characters you can play. If you have a random slot open, just try out some different play styles or personalities, you may find one you really enjoy. However, for smaller crimes a more rped approach could add some spice to the game.

If you feel your punishment is obscene, do talk to the po's or a gm. Besides that, I will agree that the longer prison sentences are a bit more of what should be expected. 4 months is a year ig. A year for murder seems reasonable. Now that the jail has been combined, if you really want to play your characters during that 4 month sentence, go for it. You could also talk to someone you know who is a guard, maybe see if "visitation" right are allowed by another player. If a collective gets together and agrees on this, then there is your rp. Don't log in and automatically expect to have someone to rp with. Sometimes the best rps are slightly planed behind the scenes. A group of 3 or 4 people decide to go to the bar and have a drink ooc, they have all their characters plan to be there, then it turns into a group of 10 because people see rp occurring and join in. If you have to deal with being in there for 4 months, make plans for rp if you want to rp that character. It is a cooperative game.

It's not getting personal, just people are trying to make it look like it's getting personal by accusing indiscriminate, rational statements as personal attacks.

Agreed. But such behaviour must not take influence on a community, or at least not be taken for serious, else such only causes anger the OOC way: To give sense to a discussion, everyone seriously participating has to use his/her head and consider all views, and that's only possible if people show a little respect and politeness to fellow players (and Gamemasters), and don't provoke others.

I might add here that playing a "villain" needs to include some type of out-time for the char, even if it includes not being able to play said char for a few months after getting caught. That is indeed necessary because of illa's death system, for as we have seen in the past, the most "villains" come back and come back and come back and come back after being overwhelmed somewhen, and after that and a short while of recovery, they come back again just to come back after... well you know what i mean and where this goes, we all have seen it happen, have we not. And for this type of "annoyance-" villain, said system sounds pretty effective to me.
Anyhow, watch out with the prison cell sizes, the ones that were small had that size, if i remember correct, so portal books could not be used inside. If portal books don't work in there everything is very fine though. ;)

I think this is why the main town should not be run by players on a purely IC basis.

It is not fun to play as someone who is entirely helpless in these situations.

I'll get your next time! *escapes in their magic pod*

Guys, Girls and Unknowns - can we wait for the VBU solution first before complaining? There are going to be labour camps, so you don't spend 2 rl months there - you either work it off, and stay 'socialising' with other prisoners and doing 'favours' for them.

Working it off ? You mean the're really putting that idea in which people suggested like, years ago. That's gonna be effective AND fun at the same time if it works out like that. Lotsa work of scripting though, so better get helping the staff with the vbu if you like to see it sooner than later !

Back in the "older days", some guard players could "!prison" others for mainly ooc stuff, rp-behaviour and alike. Because someone found out how to engine-cheat-escape that "prison castle", it later became "prison island". A thing that was fun: GMs used to !prison each another like all the time for the fun of it. When you teleported out with the GM command, you got auto-ported to the Trolls Bane entry point after your "prison time" was over. When we were doing coordinated quests or monster hack stuff, it did happen from time to time that a GM just "disappeared" and reappeared grumbling "My prison time was over". And whenever you wanted to get to the prison but forgot the exact prison coordinates, you could just imprison yourself... :D
