RP threads affecting IG roleplay

I just wanted to mention that, due to the level of insurgency IG these days, and the events that are happening, that RP threads should not be used for IG knowledge of events. People can bash me all they like, and claim some sort of OOC knowledge has been used in the past as they like, but after speaking with a GM, the person in question has even seen a level of OOC influience in the game.

As soon as the thread in question was posted, people were instantly IG saying, "Hm.. sometime feels weird. Altrix isn't around." That's absurd. That quick? He hasn't been around for 40 minutes and people are already suspecting something fishy? How many times are characters gone for three whole days (because one dwarven day absence would equal that) without other characters instantly going "Has he perished?!"

Just a friendly reminder to all those who feel it's their need to take these types of things IG.

:)

I entirely agree. Within 40 minutes, no one would realize I was gone. However, maybe in a couple days it would be fine, because irl, people would notice such things. And there is a degree of difference to this. People might not do something like that if someone just couldn't get on for a few days, but when it is an ig reason someone disappeared, then they should react as such, but not as you said, 40 minutes after it happens. Just give it a few days.

One of my characters was going to Bane to ask Altrix about joining the Army and noticed he wasnt in Bane...or the golemns... or anywhere he usually is. Seeing as to how this character KNEW Elijah was arresting people unjustly, and he KNEW Altrix was walking a very thin line, and he also suspected somebody of being a spy of the governor, it wasn't hard to make that leap when Altrix was missing from Bane when he is always there at this hour, without fail.

And he saw you leading Altrix toward the prison earlier... which it was confirmed oocly by the player you were indeed arresting him which is why i went here to reply.

All without reading the thread until later.

Don't assume everything is because of one OOC thread.

See. I knew this thread would be absolute shit because no matter what happens IG, someone is going to find a reason to justify it.

OOC abuse FTW.

Yes. But I've gotten PMs from people wishing to meet me and was gone the entire weekend. No one suspected the freaking LBA took me or the temple.. or I was murdered and raped.

40 minutes and there is a mob outside the jail? Are you kidding me? If that isn't the biggest abuse of OOC, then I'm going to rename myself Pakistan Ewing and become a porn star. As you said, four or five days and maybe a little detective work.

But 40 minutes?

Cay hasn't been to trolls bane in awhile and was just there about a 3 hours ig earlier.. she always sees Altrix around... at the harbor now she just was curious why she didn't see him. As far as I am concerned.. she has no idea there is any trouble..... just realizes didn't see him like she usually does.

Oocly IMO people can legitametely wonder where he is since he is ALWAYS ig and around trolls bane without actually knowing there is any problem. Responding to the RP post is also an oocly way of giving support..
:D

yeah but its not like 40 mins for me its like 2 ig days :) or something like that:/
edit:
And also altrix is seen much more abundantly in town then your char ever is, therefore people have more reason to notice his abcense.

40 minutes would roughly be somewhere near 120 IG minutes.

About half an IG day.

thanks grokk, half an ingame day which is made signifciantly longer when you are searching for one person in particular and you cannot find him in his usual places.

Right.

All your IG actions are completely justifiable. There is valid IG evidence that Elijah jailed Altrix. There is valid IG evidence that supports a massive riot outside the town jail.

Yep.

Just remember if that thread was never made, none of this would have happened.

Were you freaking out IG before Altrix posted that thread?

I would hardly say that 2 chars looking around the jail is a riot? in which case most of the time in trolls bane people are rioting LOL what thread, altrix's, actually was going to head that way anyhow but you know, Look love if it makes you sleep at night then you know :)

we were searching yes before that thread was posted, even asked other chars in town, returned from vanima to look before the thread was posted so i suppose yes..

I am not so sure of that.. Altrix in game yet not in Trolls Bane would be highly unusual. People would eventually wonder. As far as the jail *shrugs* wont comment unless the char is yelling loudly

edited to add.. the RP thread was fine.. you could have put a time limit in brackets of when someone may notice altrix is gone also, yet it adds interest and lots of speculative RP to the game now.

To be honest, I agree with Elijah fully. If Altrix hadn't made a topic in the RPG forum, no one would have suspected anything. It may have been odd that someone isn't on in their usual playing time, but no one would jump to any conclusions or be overly concerned as it's natural for players to disappear for hours at a time, days at a time, weeks at a time, or months at a time. It's when players have been gone for weeks that suspicions such as kidnappings, murders, incarcerations, and so on should be suspected. Now, I'm not saying anyone has reacted in such a way, and that people are only rping that they're curious as to where Altrix has been and are a little concerned for him. But, it seems obvious that such suspicions are influenced largely impart by his thread on the RP forum.

Massive riot?

Bull.

Two characters were stadning there becasue it was the last place they looked becasue one sawy you and him walking toward it for a meeting.

Estel especially has a valid IG reason to be looking. And anybody who saw altrix talking to Tomas lately would say, "Hey! He's really riskin' it, accusing the government and all!" Which transfers into people expecting something to happen soon, which eventually lands the point of, "The 7 foot tall, 300 pound guy that hits me on the back of the head every 5 minutes isn't around when he always is at this time"

I might point out that when Banduk went missing, people instantly were looking for him, even though they only knew he was gone because of ooc info. Same situation here.

Why does it matter so much?

I think because Elijah wanted to do it secretly, and once Altrix let the cat out of the bag he realised he's likely going to get overthrown by Tuesday.

Yes I finally read the RPG post he was talking about and understand now, so my reply wasn't well informed and I apologize. :x

I personally don't like any prison threads, because they are clutter, and occasionally influence RP.

But I like whining less.
