Bound Items

Bound Items - Or how not to avoid suicidal thoughts after dying with your level 10 gem enchanted item on.
Proposal Summary:
Allow players to purchase "Scrolls of Binding" for high per-scroll price (1gp?) in order to give the item a guaranteed protection in the event of death.
Effect:
Investment which enables players to invest money (money sink) to protect valuable items (decreased frustration) in case of death, allowing players to use those valuable items with more freedom (fun).
Long Explanation:
Now that we not only have rare and expensive magical weapons, but also even more rare and expensive magical gems, a random death may 'really' ruin a player's day. I don't think that the intention ever was that expensive items are not used, or are only used when it's safe, but this might very well be the effect of top-tier equipment becoming even more cumbersome and time consuming to acquire.
Now, since I think it will be a much more fun and interesting game if players are allowed some more freedom to use their good stuff, without fear of pissing away dozens of hours of grinding in case of death, will be more fun for them. Of course, such freedom should not be free to make the players too careless or stupid. So, players can purchase magical scrolls "Scrolls of Binding" which result in the item that the scroll is being used to become "Bound" (a prefix "bound" would be nice ). The bound status means that the item will under no circumstances be dropped from the char's inventory if he/she dies.
Any character can bind unlimited amount of items suggesting that he/she has an unlimited amount of money. Moreover, since I think it'll be much more simple to script, the bindings would be unpersonalized (so anyone who uses the item has the benefit, no matter who the original binder was). The binding on item is not permanent: If you die, you lose the binding of 'all' bound items in your inventory at that moment. This means that instead of losing the badass archmage ring with lvl 3 gem, you lose 1 gp.. plus 1gp for all the other items in your inventory. A highly kitted warrior or mage player with nothing but gem-studded gear will consequently lose wagonloads of money if the character dies, but he/she is spared of even more frustration which losing the equipment would bring. Also, it means that any
This to me seems not only as a thing which would add something awesome to the game, but would also add an extremely useful way of spending the character's earned money on an insurance, making the feature a money sink. Thus, any future IG wars would be likely to remove a lot of money from the players, as those who die scramble to re-protect their expensive equipment and those who haven't bound their items yet will do so just in case. The bound prefix make such items possible to recognize, and would consequently be removed as the item becomes unbound.

Needless to say, I find myself pretty awesome.
