I know this will sound slightly weird, but why not have Illarion Merchandise?
There are a multitude of sites which allow you to create a 'store' for merchandise. This way
1. The Society can earn some profits
2. We can get our mugs, t-shirts and whatever with illarion themed stuff
3. Its free advertising
4. We can have community suggested items as well.
Example 1:
A mug with "Illarion" on one side and "Got RP?" on the other (Suggested by PO Olive)
You could use one of those sites that print your stuff onto merchandise for you, they don't make extras so you don't have to buy a pack (i.e. one is made whenever someone orders one) and they take a percentage of the money. That way you could just design a load of shirts and things with no pressure of having to sell all your stock. Also you could promote illarion quite well if the website was on your shirt.
Well, some ideas, nothing special.
The biggest problem will be the money and to find a group of people who
will send them "around the world". That requires a good planning and
correctness.
Personal, I would´nt buy 200 Shirts and hopeing for customers on my own.
Can someone who's actually good at doing that have a go? >_>
No offense to you guys but uh.. I don't think those would sell. Not even fashion absent geeks like you get in illa would want to wear something that looks like that.
Number 1: Viva La Resistance. How does that have anything to do with illa?
Number 2: Best of the 4 but the font is horrible and it's just a generic clipart coat of arms.
Number 3: Ripped off picture which everyone's seen before, and it's not actually anything to do with illarion, just gaming in general.
Number 4: Who would wear a shirt of a guy sitting at a computer with a comic sans font of a site on it? Noone would ever buy that.
Number 5: Not centred, too wide, goes to the armpits, the colour completely changes for the logo. Otherwise it's the best design STYLE. If you made the shirt the same colour of the background logo of the thing and made it smaller, it would look better but still, that's a pretty vile colour to have on a shirt.

The actual images on Illa is copyrighted material, so anything set up like merchandise would have to be officially approved I assume, however I DO think would be a good way for the game to get more money and wouldn't offend others being still a free game.
Some images can be made into a format easy to print/place on shirts etc, others won't look as good.
If that ever was the case where t-shirts, mugs and so on would be available to anybody willing to purchase any of those things, a small 'merchandise' link or section within the homepage would be quite useful for people as well. However, I personally think with as small as a community we have here right now, the best option as far as any profit-making entities would be would be the donations link as mentioned above for anybody willing to want to contribute a little something into the game. Not a bad a proposal, but maybe something that could be focused on more into the future perhaps? I have nothing against anybody maybe going solo and trying to make a few for themselves for advertising purposes or possibly to sell a few things among other players. Just my two cents. All in all, pretty neat idea.
Yeah, I'd go a mug! Awesome! Maybe a shirt too! Have to look good though...not like I'm some guy that sits at his computer playing roleplaying games!
Seriously though, I support this idea, if the shirt looked different...and I only see one currently. Everyone else is talking about no.2 and no. 3? Anyway. Yeah.
