Crafting idea that doesnt effect me right now!

Post by Youchimitchu »

Okay This Doesn't affect me at this time but I had an Idea
and yes its about crafting

How about this
With the exception of certain armors and weapons and crafted goods
you allow crafters to make EVERY item they can with there craft
HOWEVER
the quality is based on their skill level
as such a person with 19 dex at 40% smithing - could only make a - Average-brandnew serinjah at best this will eventually make all vG-Excellent weapons and armor vanish

making the need for SKILLED smiths IG

this will also make fighting some creatures much harder
forcing alot of TEAM effort on even more weaker foes
thus increasing the need for roleplay.

Dex would effect- success vs fail and of course an idea the amount of materials needed and quality to a point. so we wont have these maxed dex people making high quality items so quickly.and eventually when theydo get to the point of aking excellent items they will become famed well known get yer shet from them people.

Now think and discuss!

That would lead only to one reaction:

Much more equipment would be pawned out of monsters and looted
via treasures than now. This would be the economical death of any
smith and maybe tailor.

With the armor/weapon smithable tied to the skill we have a need
for skilled smiths to produce these things, if they aren't gathered in
the above mentioned way.

Your proposal would lead to every non-crafter alligned attribut char
producing everything in a lousy quality with no chance to sell it, but only
for self-equipment. There is a good reason, why a very good crafter
should have other skills than a fighter or mage.

I don't think this is a good idea.

Simply because part of the 'excitement' of being a smith is simply because you get to see the items you can make increase. Also it allows for easy scaling of cost.

For example a newbie smith would sell cheap, while a smith who can already make most of the expensive armors would sell the more expensive armor much higher, which is something which is needed.

So in conclusions, I think that this would simply cause good smiths to lose their buisiness. Also how will resources scale?
