Could the snowballs actually be used as distance weapons, maybe even giving a small blue message "you <are hit by xyz, the snowball hit you on arm/leg/chest/head".

The legendary tomato bug was when any attack wouldn't actually happen, instead the player would "throw tomatoes" at his enemy, causing no damage, and sometimes whatever you're carrying in your hand would disappear.
