If someone has spent 1 or 2 months+ in prison (and their sentence is ongoing), PM a few IG friends and a GM and organise an escape.

The problem is that power corrupts. Not all of the jailings are for ig law breaks. Certainly the punishments being handed out player to player are not in the best interest of the game. Frankly I'm surprised the GM team hasn't gotten involved before now. Look at this poor soul... http://illarion.org...

It completely destroys the IG atmosphere when you have a murderer walking free after a few days. I dislike the notion that a player expects their character to be a blatant law breaker, and go virtually unpunished. If your character doesn't want to go to prison, don't have them commit a crime, or don...

I agree with Flux; that is classy and refreshing to see, Vel. But I think it's pretty absurd for people to be attacking Elijah for not creating roleplaying opportunities. I think you would be hard-pressed to find a PO who has created more roleplaying opportunities in the last 4 months or so than he....

I think that the real issue is not the size of the map, but the number of settlements on it. The magic teleporters/mage portals/travel books make any travel time/distance problems obsolete. If everyone is on the other side of the map, you can be there in an instant. The problem is that the populatio...

The Order of the ... Flame, huh? http://illarion.org/community/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25398 LOL! Ah well, was just a working title anyhow. Best of luck! I hope you can gather some skilled players, for I think Illarion currently lacks interesting guilds! I agree! And thanks for the advice and support.

Ignore Llame :P I don't expect it to be an issue. The religious side of the guild will be just as significant as the military side. I'm far more interested in roleplaying with the 'bad guys' than PKing them. Redemption and all that. PKing anyone will be quite low down on the 'things-to-do list'. If ...

New Guild: Anyone Interested?

"Know this: a Light endures, even at the very heart of darkness." This thread is just to gauge interest in a new guild I am considering forming. Tentatively named 'The Order of the Cleansing Flame' (strongly influenced by the Shadowbane guild of a similar name), the guild will be a milita...

Buy "journeys", not "travel books". Asking for a "travel book" will always give you one to Troll's Bane, no matter what location you type after it.

And yes, the merchant says "harbour" but you have to type "harbor".

Your interpretation of my views was spot on, Ezor. I completely agree with your opinion on the matter. There are plenty of POs who should plug their characters into the Mary Sue Litmus Test to see what walking, talking clichés they play. And I'm pleased you were entertained by the profile. :D The 4/...

The key is to reward good behaviour, not punish poor. That way people have incentive to roleplay better. And people don't ragequit when they get killed or something. This thread is not about punishing poor roleplay. But I strongly agree with the idea of rewarding roleplay as an incentive. I made su...

What sort of system doesn't reward powergaming? I doubt there are any outside of something like Secondlife, or tabletop RPGs. Whatever change in technical ways are made, a technical change will never teach roleplay. That's just rubbish. Don't mean to burst your bubble here but this is entirely incorrect. Perma-death would not bring fear to powerful characters. Most of illarions powerful characters have a begrudging respect for one another. They might talk big, threaten each other or thwart each others mischief on occasion, but for...
