In Illarion, anything that happens to your char that involves the engine will have an impact on the player. If your character's armour breaks, you could argue that this is a malus to the player, because he now has to spend x hours earning money from his own time to buy a new armour. Practically ever...

The new punishment system is being used because old punishments don't work. I think that NPC should give, say, 3-4 bread, provided you have <15k foodpoints or something. 1 bread is nothing.

@Perry, how do the gem merchants work in towns? I've not looked into it, but perhaps they take a significant fee, and by receiving a level 2 gem you bypass that?

Yeah, I doubt that's the kind of thing someone would periodically want on or off - more like something one would permanently want enabled or disabled. An option sounds preferable.

Well, I actually can't confirm anything because I wrote my drop list suggestions 2 years ago and I haven't checked whether they're still the same. There were other hypotheticals too back then.

That's good advice thanks Flux, so I just find a monster that strikes fast and im able to dodge and find a monster that takes many hits with a blunt weapon (weak blunt weapon) to level with Gurk's staff.
