All three guesses are correct, but there's another point in which it's just that I play a game for fun. And the more hassle a game is to play, the less fun it is for me. If you implement parts of a system that punish the casual gamer, it's less attractive for people who don't have alot of time to i...

Donal, just because the fighting system is unrealistic, should it be mandatory, that all other systems have to be unrealistic too? I'm only speaking for myself on this, but; I give you three tries to guess why I mainly only play fighters, rogues, fighter-rogues, and the occasional oddball bard or s...

I concur with Donal's points. I dunno if this is just my impression, but if you go without food for roughly 2 or 3 in-game days as it is now, not only does your regeneration rate drop to zero (eventually), but also your skill "power" (for the lack of a better term) decreases till the char...

Vogons being the "third-worst poets of the galaxy" comes to mind. I see no problem with a mentally challenged, bard-oriented orc. Sounds rather amusing, especially when you get other people into the dilemma of deciding whether they shall applaud his performance or tell him their honest op...

Sian returns Aleytys' mistrustful gaze with a mock mimickal rendition of her own, followed by a smug grin. Then wipes it off his pale face and shoots a glance in the round to introduce himself in a calm, smoky voice. " Sian, formerly of Varshikar, adventurer extraordinaire and ranger to this i...

After recent encounters with the cultists in town, and the more recent encounter of Aokan, Sian made way to camp outside of Troll's Bane, deeming the wild more safer than ever. Keen, icy blue eyes scanned the forested horizon as he marched, but now finally spotting and locking onto a small coven of...

PS: Is there a short overview about the world of Illarion. The most texts I found are real long. Not really, but it would be a good project to realize, if you ask me. Yep.

In some instances I just cap out at high speed; in others I get the "swirlies" galore and can go on with it for a while. (Talking about fighting skills exclusively, here.)

Something's messed up, or, has a logic difficult to comprehend.

I'd like to add from my side, that the case mentioned in the topic's top post was well enough for a perma-ban. The ban didn't happen, and the player in question probably doesn't even know she's meant. There was this situation in which an imitated newbie approached a group of people IG and asked the...

*shakes head* With a little healthy common sense, this can't be so bad; it seems like some people need some lessons in netiquette. Of course, if the GMs go ban-happy for petty reasons, it's a stupid rule, but essentially this is for good or for bad. I mean, if you don't lay it out that this will ge...

I think elitism is good . Now before you all rip my heads off, here's why: Elitism itself isn't bad in its core, but it holds a powerful dichotomy which lets it lead to good or bad, depending on whatever people do with it. Elitism can mean as much as that old-timers get a special treatment. Which i...

Sure, but Illarion is not a simulation for Medieval real world; and you may want to consider thinking this through a bit more before anybody and their brother becomes a lockpicker.

Not really.

Also, a simple lock is truly so simple you could probably pick it with, say, a dagger; while a complex lock can't be mastered without the proper tools.

Nothing wrong with inexperience. Speaking of which, that reminds me of something else. I think lockpicking as a skill should not be consistent with other skills; you shouldn't be able to pick it up just by trying to pick any lock without having the skill in advance. From a realistic point of view, y...

Well, I rest my case though: - click-orgies of multiple trial 'n error to pick a lock -> stupid - skill/talent determines speed of lockpicking -> way more comfortable & logical Also, someone suggested that an orc would just bust down a door with brute force, rather than picking a lock - which is...

-Lockpicking will be done with puncture weapons. If they're ever added, an actual lockpick would of course work better With a short sword? That should be limited to daggers or smaller items.
