I'd love to see something along these lines:

- your character's hp drop to zero -> "clouded" briefly, message output "You have been knocked unconscious!"
- character is teleported to cross, and inable to attack/spellcast for x minutes.

:P

Newer, probably far too open-minded, player who gave his full support about skill caps without even having played the game much before all this shit went down: Nah, it'll be alright. They'll find a system that meets the playing ability of all the players. I don't think the Illarion staff would real...

How ever in the skill i want him to gain he has excelled, certainly the system is not perfect but it is not terrible to the point of making the game unplayable. I beg to differ, not everybody has hours on end to sit off this cap thing in game. For me personally it pays off more to just log out and ...

The reason I keep on about complete wipes is it's surprising how the atitude of older players changes. New horrendous skill cap system without wipe conversation:> older player : I think it's a great idea. newer player : It will be impossible to get skills for my character. older player : Illarion i...

Re: Proposal: Tired

Advantages: 1) No more hero who can beat 25 enemies, yet still find time for a nice duel 2) No more need for learning cap in fighting (if the person wants to end up getting killed by simple creatures so be it) 3) Tactics > Use weak soldiers to tire the enemy out, then attack with strong, less tired...

This doesn't seem like a good tradeoff. It's not a trade-off. Not being able to attack after your res'd creates two problems: Cross campers looking to jump one of two strong people who just died. Wow, you can report this. Res-killing is an offense in the first place. If not, then this game's state ...

Exactly. If you enjoy playing a certain character, don't be discouraged by any forum grievers. Almost anything's been played before in any thinkable game of this world. If you use your head and don't deliberately take too many ideas from anywhere else, you'll give your character a special flavor tha...

For me this was well explained in the third post, common sense and logic. According to your character dictates reaction to ghosts. Actually... input thus far was quite feeble in my eyes. This hit the spot: I will quote what a GM told me about clouds: "People don't see ghosts. RPing clouds alre...

In social studies, it's a common subject that youth suffers a certain amount of pressure of not being able to come up with any new and original concepts or inventions that haven't been introduced to our world before. If you make music, write, produce artwork, invent; there's always good chance that ...

In an attempt to get this thread back on topic... I think Permadeath is a viable option. Just because alot of people dont take fighting seriously at all, PGing hasent even been really dented yet as many people STILL do it. And they do, you know it. Actually, if you're using PG as an argument to vouc...

This matter on ghosts is being way too over-thought. The arguments are good, yes, but you're all being way too serious about this... as if it determines the fate of the world as we know it if either you have a high survival rate, or a high ressurection rate, or if you can go to some limboland then ...

In fact I haven't called anybody lame yet in this thread, I've only called the style lame. Good you write that, actually, because I can take your case for a good example. When Irania was dead, Konstantin (right?) performed the resurrection, being a priest of Ronagan, but he did such with a dark ritu...

A "high survival rate" seems to make more sense to me than a "high resurrection rate". It's so much simpler to just use the current cloud state we already have as wounded/KO. Of course, you could tweak the cloud state with delays or whatnot to make it more "wounded" li...

Well, I'll leave it at this: I'm not going to change my mind right now towards liking a pre-defined in-game afterlife. I just don't, and I've explained extensively why I don't. The ideas are good, but as I can tell from this thread, basically anybody who has discussed on the subject thus far is welc...

Many people have come back from the afterlife, and the afterlife is already defined per god. True, so? How would an otherworldly meadow or spirit world reflect this? Would we have to select Gods for our characters to land in seperate halls when the characters die? Also sounds like a neat idea, but ...

Ahah, this brings me to my, idea. You die, if you choose to be ressurected by the cross, your teleported to a "Limbo" area. Basically a meadow with some water something nice to look at, you are alive as in not clouded, theres some food or something to eat. You'll get a message when your t...

Yeah, leave it to Illarion to make up new meanings behind old names.

By non-Illarionite terms, I am a PK (I PK on pretty much every other game), but by Illarionite terms, I'm not, because my "PKs" here are always RP-related.

That sounds funny.

Personally I don't see "ghosts" in Illarion. The only time a character is "killed" is when the player decides it is time. If, by chance, a character has been relieved of all his health then I consider him knocked out. And then I don't go saying "Oh look! A ghost!" or &...
