Re: A VBU Question.

Thanks for the reply and the information. Is there any way I can find out about what was said during the tech talks? I can only get to the chat service about half the time and even then it doesn't always work, and add that the fact that my schedule is really unpredictable, and that just leaves me in...

Re: Marisha's Travel Guide

:( So sad to hear that. It would have been a good resource for new players and a fun preview of part of the game otherwise.

A VBU Question.

I have a simple question that should be easy enough to answer for any staff member or developer. What, exactly, are the major changes that are going to be happening with the completion of the VBU? For instance, how exactly will skills be changed; to what degree will the new map resemble the old one;...

Re: Marisha's Travel Guide

Sorry to thread necro, but is there any reason that this can't be added on the main page with the screenshots? Change the name of "screenshots" to "pictures" and there should be no problem. Changing the name is something easy enough that I'm fairly certain that even I could do it...

Re: A parchment in Orcish

Upon seeing a letter written in orkish yet written much more skillfully than what is normal and written in ink rather than mud or blood, a certain unusually well mannered lizard seems to become interested in learning the contents. "Excuse me, skin brother," the lizard known as jack says to...

Re: Repairing in VBU

I guess more information on this will have to wait till after the VBU after-all. Though I am one who thinks that being constantly in demand to keep weapons sharpened is much more fun for a crafter than to be intermittently in demand to completely replace the old weapon (the same with tools and armor...

I guess all we can do is wait and hope Estralis can explain what he meant when he said that "ordering a new item in encouraged and wanted". Anything else is just wasted words.

Re: Repairing in VBU

Sorry, I didn't mean to upset you. I do believe that the original poster has a good idea, it is the sort of thing that just seems like common sense. If the reason it hasn't been implemented is that there isn't time to do it or something else preventing them from looking into it, than fine. But if th...

Re: Repairing in VBU

The current system cuts out the laborers completely in favor of the druids. I don't see how the current system helps laborers at all. Now, if the OP's idea of using some materials was implemented than it would help laborers, but why use their services at all under the current system? The only thing ...

Re: Repairing in VBU

Sorry to drudge up an old post, but I do have a question. WHY do you say that "Ordering a new item instead of repairing an item is encouraged and wanted"? I honestly don't understand the logic behind the idea. The closest idea that I can think is that in ordering a new item you provide wor...

Is there a reason why the Guild forum for the major guilds (Tol Vanima, Silverbrand, and Zzyathis) are only viewable if you are logged in? Or is this a mistake?

Re: Character Creation - Base Stats

I realize that a lot of what I said is wrong, but it is still somewhere to start that is a bit better than the in-game descriptions. Most of it shouldn't matter once the VBU comes through, but for now these speculations are still important (even if only to dis-confirm them so that things can be done...

Re: Character Creation - Base Stats

I've been doing some experimentation ingame. Mostly this has been done by looking at the effects of good/bad days and by listening to other people, but some of it is through other people's observations. Please correct me if I am wrong about anything, since I'm still trying to pull apart the quagmire...

Re: The Language of the Game

So much of this conversation comes down to the question "What is acceptable and what isn't?" I admit, I fall much farther onto the side of tolerance, you can still keep a lot of the period specific feeling without cutting out extremely common words (like "cool" or "HI")...

Re: The Language of the Game

The problem with trying to use period specific slang is that nobody understands it or recognizes it for what it is. The "O.K." example is perfect because it is viewed by many as "modern" even though it is older than some of the other words in this very sentence. Being understood ...

Re: The overall roleplay and pitfalls.

I agree with you both, noobia should be unnecessary. Most of the forums should be largely unnecessary as well. In a perfectly designed post-post-post-VBU world much of that may be done. But currently these things are needed and are necessary. And the game we are playing in is the current one. Fixing...

Re: FAQ's of illarion

Why won't my game finish registering/ why can't I get onto the forums? Apparently AOL automatically blocks e-mails from Illarion and throws them into the special spam trash place that is inaccessible to the user. I had to register a new e-mail with another provider that I pretty much only use for I...

Re: The overall roleplay and pitfalls.

I think it would help to clear things up a bit by refocusing the conversation. The one biggest reason people stay is the rollplaying but the one biggest reason that people say that they give up on the game is because they can't find people. Perhaps working on the problem that is the biggest issue wo...

Re: The overall roleplay and pitfalls.

I guess I will add my 2c worth to simply say, the problem is less simple than it seems and, at the same time, more simple as well. First, the easy part: How the problem is more simple. Simply put, we have a game engine attached to the RP aspects. This gives us a lot of direction and a good starting ...

How did you hear of Illarion, what made you decide to make a char and play? Again, I found it on an online list and it fit what I was looking for. -I was looking for something that was free (free forever, not "free with paid options" (ie: if you want to be competitive you have to pay) or ...

Thanks for the help. It doesn't have a "lastlogin" value at all. I even went so far as to dig out my old computer (the one I originally played on) and trying there, but it wasn't on that either. I also read through the entire old log file, the new log file, the new console file, and scanne...

I'm reviving this dead thread to ask the same question. I know my forum account name, I can use my character name to play, I know my account password; I just don't know my account name. Even so, since that is a single number within the code something like that would not take much to fix. Literally 5 minutes worth of work to at least improve the problem, even if it is not fixed. But that would be up to the developers to deal with at this point, so there is nothing more that can be s...

Re: Teaching teaching rune

I just came across this and had to ask. If the idea is to have a system where people don't powergame by stacking most of there free attribute points in one place, than doesn't it seem counterproductive to require people to have an average of about 17 in each of three stats in order to do an extremel...

First, nobody is saying to "ban the offenders forever". All I am asking is that this be treated like a problem worthy of OOC responses in the same way that hiding in building shadows to attack or denying new players access to needed resources is. The results are similar in both cases, afte...

Of Trolling and Trees

Let me first say that I thought long and hard about bringing up this topic since I did not want to give ideas to the trolls who had not yet thought of the idea. Finally I decided that it would be better to say something anyway. Mainly because there are enough players who do know the problem to make ...

Re: Town Guard of Troll's Bane

I myself have seen a number of groups of wandering monsters (mainly mosquitos, but including one troll) wondering around the town over the past few days. These have been in multiple groups over multiple occasions, so it seems to not be an isolated incident. I have done what I can for the town, eithe...
