How about make NPC that buy all kind of food and sell them back? The NPC doesn't refill the items he's selling nor refill the money. Starts with 10-20 silver coins or something. The food stock the NPC holding will be from players. Say... the NPC buy 10 cookies for 10 copper each. Then he can sell at...

What I think is strange is how humanlike creatures - normally with the mind of their own - all the sudden is created/summoned from nowhere to help the mage. it doesn't really help the mage, it's basically like any other monsters, they attack their chosen target (AI thing) or whoever is the closest....

If old player make new char, well it's their choice to start all over again. The more 'developed' chars, would be... their own old chars? If they just never train them, then it's their own fault for not developing the char after so long. Faster skill gain would only make some other people (most like...

Was there any attribute changed so far? o.oa I'm asking because I haven't realized any, except for magic which only warlocks affected. But then again if they change their attributes to teach... they won't be a warlock any longer. Faster gaining skill because of a change.... doesn't sounds right... '...

Basically some of the old players are just jealous, envy, pissed and lazy too  After they are beaten (demoralized), instead of training or accept the lost, some just want easy way to get skills? Sounds offensive and blunt, but somehow i couldn't found other reason than that. There aren't...

Yes in a few years' time. Most people quit, create new characters, or branch out when that happens. Only took around half year with 14 int. And since i'm a jack of all trades, those half year was spent on some other things as well instead of just fighting. Well even in fighting he toyed around with...

@avalyon: of course they would complain, because with text-based RPG you can't tell who is actually the strongest  And so there will be arguements about who should be the strongest  Or create a new law, who is the most stubborn will be the strongest  So if you can stay around and...

*jumps into the silly arguements* QFT with a little addtion: only ONE skill cap per day, to give the RP based players a chance to gain comparable skills (and has a similar effect as Vern's proposal). Hrm... won't really help for the RP based players. Since mostly they just RP and probably only half ...

Re: Take treasure maps out of the water.
I think treasure maps should be taken out of the water. Why? Because it's stupid. First of all, if I'm not mistaken and please correct me if I am, there was no plastifying machines to make parchments water resistant in the middle ages. Like, srsly guise, whut. You don't throw a map in the water and...

Instead of treasure map, it's a magical compass? XD water resistant map... with magic anything is possible. Heck.. the guardians just spawned out of nowhere. Making water resistant and durable map sounds easier than spawning monsters. As for the fishes, you can just rp tosses them back into the rive...

I think they just mean that warlocks aren't suitable as full-fledged teacher anymore. Warlocks can teach more than half of the runes currently, 20 out of 28 runes. But for the rest of the runes they should get it from the full-fledged teachers aka the mages. The students can still get all the runes ...

With a different system for crafting and fighting category, since crafting is 1 skill and fighting you can have 1 primary skill + dodge, parry, tactics and flag system, sounds like it's a major change instead of just a tweak of the current system? Although i'm not so sure how current one works for su...

If your char trying to do what he is not meant to be, then... it's your own (as in the PO) fault? As far as i know... a hobby is something you do for fun at leisure time. So if a pure mage want to do carving as a hobby... why not? Even if he sucks at it, but he enjoys it as an escape from mag...

Ahm... fighting needs 1 attacking style, dodge, parry and tactics. 1 of them flagged the rest won't really progress? What about the 5 magic skills? It would probably stop the new chars to go jack of all trades, but what about the current ones? Also... if the flag is down at 30, they can train everyt...

But then again... in illa getting 100 in a skill doesn't mean anything unless it's backed up with the correct attributes. For example, a smith with 100 smithing skill with 5 dex, he can't do much at all... let alone be the best... But for sure getting a 100 in a skill means... that's the best you ca...

The way it works might seems illogical and not realistic, but it's fair. Every time you failed, you lose a resource. If you don't lose anything when you fail, it just doesn't seems right... for a game. Reality is a model, if a game became too real... it loses it's fun, might as well play the game ca...
