Re: Becoming Evil

I have to disagree. Sure characters may be multi faceted, but this is roleplaying. The point is have drama and fun, a reprieve from the humdrum of the everyday world. Player characters should be out of the ordinary, even extraordinary. It would take someone with a middle- to upper class background w...

Re: Ceridern Garden

Walking up to the pool, a lone elf sings with eyes shining like stars to the sound of gentle lute and carefree flute: These beams of moonlight, they reflect a maiden's fragrance Tears fall a sword breaks, these feelings they run too deep And for how much it hurts? there can be no words For without y...

Re: Items Lost.

Thank you Tirrend. To the dwarf: Would you surreptitiously collect all my belongings to add to your hoard? Isn't it enough that you have been knocking down wall and door in your attempts to grasp yet more material wealth? When will you be satisfied? I shared all the cabbages I had planted with you o...

Re: Town Guard of Troll's Bane / Stadtwache von Trolls Bane

You haven't the right to that money Srrt. Being overly touchy is one thing. Appropriating something and then falsely claiming I intended to give it to you is another.

The matter between the dwarf and I is really none of your concern. Why don't you go and busy yourself with other things?

Re: Town Guard of Troll's Bane / Stadtwache von Trolls Bane

I never paid any fine nor have I even met you before Samantha. Considering this, I don't believe your claims about Zehshirr. You most likely just made that up. Neither do I recognize your pretensions to authority. You clearly have many a lesson to learn yourself. Why judge another for the dirt on hi...

Re: Becoming Evil

Evil is interesting because it contrasts nicely with the so called good. Without darkness, how would anyone know what light is like? Some of the most entertaining characters I've come across have been 'evil'. Although, you wouldn't know it though from the way they carried themselves. :o Definitely, ...

Re: Where do you draw the line?

There is a difference between fear and annoyance. Most people, I believe are more annoyed than afraid when they lose whatever was helpful for their role-play. If you play a fearful character, then why not. Quiver and shake ad infinitum. If someone wants to play a braver sort though, let's make it ju...

Re: Gods of Albar

Why not make it possible for characters to add to the existing mythology? After all, isn't mythos by definition the product of creativity and perhaps an over fertile mind :)

Re: Where do you draw the line?

I agree people may dislike pain. At the same time though, it's undeniable that many willingly subject themselves to what you and I would call painful experiences and even actively seek them out. Anyone here a thrill seeker? :) Fear of pain hasn't stopped millions from dying for their beliefs either;...

Ceridern Garden

Dusk falls, and the luminous moon casts a pale sheen like winter's first frost over an elven garden ringed with ceridern. The trees are in full bloom despite the cold, and they give off a scent reminiscent of the most exquisite saffron. It's a scene to linger upon, but a rustling in the leaves catch...

Re: Where do you draw the line?

There are characters that legitimately do not fear death though. Even in real life, I'm sure you have met those fearless types who wouldn't think twice about putting their lives on the line. They could easily fear other things besides death, however. Death isn't even number 1 when people are polled ...

Re: Where do you draw the line?

Who in their right state of mind would give consent to someone wasting their time? You? Haha There needs to be some differentiation between consequences for the player versus for the character, and draining away a player's time doesn't seem appropriate if you intend to act against a character. Furth...

Where do you draw the line?

For myself, I separate NPCs from player characters and adjust my behavior accordingly. So with NPCs I won't hesitate to act on them unilaterally, but with a player character I'll consider whether the player wants something to happen or not first. Naturally, this consideration extends to consciously ...

Enjoying the rivalry between Uffe and Valen. The clash of personalities is riveting - classic dwarf vs elf. :) Let's bring some more ancient grudges to bear eh

-A merry, sprightly elf with a sparkle in his eyes skips past the alcove, peeks in, and shouts:

Hey, have you tried asking miss Sornaxia? Maybe she wanted a different view for a change! Or what if somebody wished to see her up and about this time around haha

The deep one sleeps, he does not speak
In the place, where dark and quiet
Makes ones thoughts, all come to naught
Night! Night! t'is a headache alright
But, tell me, where's the end to this blight?

In an airy, cursive style the above

Re: The Government of Troll's Bane

What about having representatives who could act as a liaison between the judge, guards, and subject? That could smoothen things because oftentimes the subject doesn't understand the laws. The subject then describes a lot of details that are not relevant to his case, which just confuses the issue and...
