Re: Correcting the fighting skipt?
It's a bummer for fighters that have been using equipment above their skill, but this seems like it was a smart fix for balancing crafting. We'll all be ordering new gear and keeping the smiths, tailors and carpenters busy.

Re: Shackles of Freedom
His soothing hand on her head, offering her a moment of reassurance before the hammer fell and the sparks flew, had made all the difference to the elfess. This was someone rare in the elfess' experience - someone who saw no pleasure in causing another to suffer, someone that coupled gentleness with ...

Shackles of Freedom
(( closed RP for now -- PM if you want to join )) The elfess was angry, perhaps angrier than she’d ever been before and that made her reckless. She approached the man at the bar, yearning for trouble and finding more than she had bargained for. He was a barbarian from the Nordmark and hated her with...

Re: Murmurs of Old
The hunger for power, the thrill of holding dominion over others was a sight all to familiar to the elfess and yet, like always, the rumors surprised her. In the voices of the present, she heard the murmurs of the past and the old habits, the years of training nearly forgotten in the recent relative...

Lore Sites
I remember when I first joined Illarion, there were lots of links on the home page for background and lore. Does anyone have those links? Is any of that lore still valid or have we scrapped that?

Apologies for the last minute change in venue. The caterer thought a larger space would be more comfortable. Please join us for the banquet above Cadomyr's workshop.

Re: Death but not Really (Questing)
The way I understand this proposal, the skills would start at zero and have to be trained up like any other character. These aren't characters that are going to have skills handed to them. The difference between these characters and the others in the account is that they wouldn't have to be scrubbed...

What's to stop people from doing that now? I don't see how adding this feature or restricting it would prevent an abuse like you're suggesting.

Re: Death but not Really (Questing)
Personally, I'd favor placing all these characters as outlaws since it fits with the mechanics already in place. It seems like that would be much simpler and would match this concept well enough. I think it's worth at least trying the idea out. Players that can't handle the responsibility can have t...

Re: Death but not Really (Questing)
I like the idea of recycling the bad guy with a new skin. That takes away the dread of skilling a character that would otherwise be deleted. I also like the idea of a PvP loss time-out but I would make that 3 losses rather than a single one. I'd also make the time-out 24 hours or until midnight serv...

Re: Really?
@ Dji: You're operating under the assumption that people want to play at political maneuvering. While I appreciate politics and meetings are very enjoyable for some players, they're not for everyone. There should be room for a variety of play. The game shouldn't be all politics and manipulation and...

Re: New Rule
Ideally, the people making development decisions should play so that they have more than a theoretical sense of how the game will be affected by the changes they implement. I agree and I'm willing to bet they agree too but Illarion is a huge time drain. There's a lot of trade-offs in life and only s...

Re: Forum Tone / Rants
I agree with Nitram. We really can't go back. I appreciate the acknowledgement that some players are angry. And Fooser's right, too. It's the players that are passionate about the game that take the time to say something. For every player that speaks up, there are probably more unhappy ones that say...

Re: Really?
Here's a surprise ... I very much don't like the current informal player-driven perma-ban system. First of all, the player leaders are in place for a very long time and in some factions, forever. This system benefits those few players at the detriment of the rest of the player base. There's insuffic...

Re: Forum Tone / Rants
I'm sorry but everyone is responsible for themselves. If reading the forums destroys your personal motivation, don't read them. Not logging in your character is no one's fault but your own. Placing blame just looks like a more elaborate version of 'goodbye Galim.' I'm also sorry that the staff is sm...

Instead of sending complaints to the right persons, those complaining cause others to join in the whining....As far as i see it, there is no other way than to remove such topics from the boards and simply discuss their theme internally instead. For my part, I see the forums as a last resort. Unfort...

Don't fool yourself. We're all keeping one eye on Azure. And also since you invoke my character's name, apples and oranges. Brawndara got it in his head that he hated Stonescale for no good reason that I could ever determine. From my side, he generated conflict for the sake of conflict and skimped o...

Re: Really?
My own personal experience with bans is that they don't come with instructions. Not in game, forum, PM nor any other means of communication. How is a player to know what's expected? Also, with the absence of information in game, it is no longer an in game matter. It becomes an ooc issue if it hasn't...

Those two things could work together but more what I had in mind is people forming neutral guilds without regard to citizenship a...

My top three, and I'm sorry for not checking Mantis, but I hate it ... 1. A guild area apart from the factions with free transport to and from your home city. 2. Something that can be instituted immediately as we wait for the guild milestone - while we have to build the guilds inside the current fac...

Re: Guild discussion
I've seen more groups try to band together beyond the ones trying to take over the world. Most recently -- and I apologize if any feelings are hurt by pointing this out -- there was the Galmair guard that had its autonomy removed to the extent that the players involved didn't want to participate fur...

Re: Why I suddenly disappeared.
I think there's a divide in the discussion about guilds between what we had in the past and what exists currently. I can see the guild forum heading on the forum page but I see no threads in it. I'm very surprised to read about all this secret guild activity happening among the larger guilds because...
