Re: Character Creation - Base Stats

I don't mean to come down on the spiel here or anything but... its been asked a few times already, the consensus from the staff was that everyone would be allowed to alter there character for the VBU to better match up with the changes that will be made to the system. It just had not been stated in...

Re: Character Creation - Base Stats

Figured I'd bring this back for a new question that comes to mind. Will there be no way to edit atts on existing characters post-VBU? A one time "fix your char"? I think it's worth mentioning that many people created maxed or near-maxed characters with more of a character image in mind than numerica...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

I'm sad to say that that's a rather horrible way to run things. But, who's to argue with those who may ban. Let me just make this clear. The Illarion society does not want porn, mutilating, rape, torture and other sick shit happening in this game. It has always been like this and this will not chang...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

If we are to go by law, then we'd have to ban any and all sexual activities from Illarion, which would mean that no pregnancies would occur, and no children (however few they may be) may turn up in game. Racism against humans couldn't be allowed, and any acts of extreme violence - which would have t...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

Do I DESIRE it? No. Do I want role play to be limited? No. Do I see any problem with rape occurring as a "passed over" event (a mutual agreement that it happened)? No. Do I see any problem with it occurring in any detail? Yes. If I'm the only one that has a problem with this, then, please, tell me. ...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

No, I did not say rape is more offensive. In fact, I specifically went out of my way to say that it's NOT about comparing which acts are more offensive. What I did say was that some things are considered more TABOO by our societies, which is reflected in the laws of our nations which we must abide ...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

@Drathe I've never taken kindly to "This is like this because I said so." That's the reason that I've (kind of) instigated actual reasoning, here. Simply making a rule when the basis behind it is completely unstable (or completely unexplained) makes for the beginnings of a very poor future. How can ...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

^ Agreed. @Grokk, his racism and sexism point is valid. Racial discrimination and sexism do play a role in Gobaith which, according to German law, is prohibited (racism, at least, though likely sexism somewhere). You could argue that racism only occurs against fantastical characters (which it doesn'...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

Or maybe because there's actually relevant, enlightening discussion occurring. Not everything must be locked instantly. Honestly, whining about it not being locked is far more off topic. In any case, I've found the legal tidbits that explain all of this. Unfortunately, they also ban any racism and v...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

Well, thanks for the answer, I guess. While I'm not particularly fond of the close-mindedness, I got what I asked for.

Dramatic acts, removed from future role-play interactions.

@Ereaes I wish your answer was the one attached to the colored name. :P

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

This thread is still going, yes - and for good reason, in my humble opinion. Likewise, the hijacking was necessary. What I had thought to be a nonissue apparently isn't, so I'm looking for definitive answers. When a GM says that anything concerning rape should not be allowed, then I think clarificat...

Re: On A Mission

Morning. Morning, and still nothing. Gabriel walks again through the streets asking all he sees if they've seen a man named Alistair. "You know, he's about... this tall, and... he's got some hair, and..." How'm I supposed to find him if I don't even know what he LOOKS like? Occasionally, the lad res...

On A Mission

"Alistair! Wake your bloody self up!" The words ring through the emptied streets of 'Bane, night's shroud seeming to dampen the shout. Gabriel, clad in his usual eye-wrenching assortment of colors, marches through the streets, calling out Alistair's name. A sword in one hand, a big bag of something...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

The only argument that has been given is this general attack on the idea of a game without evil. But that's beside the point. No one has suggested removing murder, torture, cursing or anything other than rape for that matter. Of course we need the deeper, darker bits. Of course it would be complete...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

So...maybe I'm missing something...what exactly is gained by permitting rape? I mean... If you're going to put it that way... What exactly's gained by playing this game AT ALL? Nothing. It's a game, nothing more. People play it because it's an interactive book - it's fun, interesting, etc. Do you l...

Yeah, I've updated my ATI graphics drivers, which is supposed to (moderately well) support OpenGL. I know nVidia's better for OpenGL support, but meh. Radeon will have to do.

How do I delete something in the java console, though?
