let's say a ring for example is average, and you suck at goldsmithing and your blind or something. Would it appear to you to be really good or really bad? or is it random?

it should be given by gm's.

I would like to be added to the members list once more.

I don't think it would be much work, especially if Misjbar says so. But I don't see a need, other than realism. I can also see alot of arguments on this, on how it would give the race an unfair advantage. Remember the elven teacher? It's the same thing.

I like the sound of a charwipe, but it looks like it would cause problems. I don't know. I'm no expert. Either way, I would probaly continue to play.

We could also include thieving puppets (scarecrows) on which you train and can only reach a certain skill with that. They have like bells and such, so you know if you success or not etc. And fighters can train on each other... but I like the puppet thing best. very akward if someone caught you next...

the only problem i can see with the trading system we have now is the rot factor. I never understood why each item has a set lifetime. I can understand that if an item is on the the ground for X minutes it dissapears, but it doesnt make much sense to have that value replenished when it is picked up...
