Re: Current Game Thoughts

Wow. Lot's of old people here... I've been wanting to play again, but there's always something which stops me. And I finally figured out what it is. The game is too "big". Before you could log in, there's a single town (mostly), and a bunch of players I know. There are very obvious 'hot spots' which...

Re: Traveling merchants

I am, as always referring to mages and archers - where you don't have the magical ability to 'run around them' and if you have a bunch of them somewhere, by the time you run past them your health would have gotten a bit sickly.

Re: Traveling merchants

No I mean physical bottlenecks. Like bridges. Or doors. Or cave entrances, or other places where mouse control isn't very good.

Re: Traveling merchants

I like the dangerous treks between the towns, each time is an adventure. While I do agree that the 'adventure' is pretty interesting - not knowing what monsters you're goign to come across today... ...maybe not everyone wants the adventure. Maybe the reason player X became a crafter is because he d...

Re: Traveling merchants

I've run all over the map and a monster has never even got close enough to hit me, let alone kill me. You ever tried running between Bragon and Zelphia's shrines? Requires running through trolls, dianosaurs, two bridges, a bunch of skeleton archers and a mage or two. Yeah you can run from most thin...

Re: Traveling merchants

If you're going with an escort - given the large amount of stuff which is everywhere, you're going to move very slowly indeed. And since some areas are full of archers, mages or both - you'll probably end up without an escort before long. I do agree the roads to certain places are too dangerous. Cad...

Re: Bad guy dos and donts

I'd argue the best way to play a bad guy is to not to. Because there should be no such thing as a bad guy. Is a guy who kills 10 Runewickians evil? Or is he a Galmair war hero? Is the guy who sells overpriced rare products which are desperatly needed in a town evil? or a good buisinessman? Is the gu...

Bunch of Questions Regarding Factions

Bunch of questions regarding the faction policies and plans. 1. Are we allowed/expected to petition faction leaders for things? (Ex: "Could we have a bigger workshop/cheaper prices/building of a hairdresser") 2. Are interfaction relationships completely in the hands of the GMs, or are they logical a...

Re: VBU First Impressions

Yeah tools break very quickly considering how much you pay for them. My crucible-pincers lasted 100 ores if I remember correctly. That said the crafting system makes tools very easy and cheap to make for a reason. So when players supply the tools (and even a 0 skilled carpenter can make his own tool...

Re: VBU First Impressions

Forcing people to work together isn't the way forward though. People should work together because they want to. Miners shouldn't need to be fighters too. If I don't feel like killing al 21 creatures on the path to the mine I should be able to run (which I can ^^), if I want to go there with a fighte...

Online Character Notifier

I've built a simple tool for notifying me when certain players log in. It is a very quickly written program, so don't expect it to do magic or something. Was mining yesterday. It spawned a golem. It killed a poor guy who was in the mine and since the mine is accessable only through a stairs, lots of people are going to have a nasty surprise.

Please remove this. Golems are DANGEROUS creatures.
