Re: Was there a time when Illarion had more than 10 players

I play very occasionally, just to get a feel for the level of roleplaying. I find people are generally responsive, but boy, is it hard work compared to five or six years ago. Some of the players I've met just haven't been that into sustaining an interaction (and I know it's nothing to do with my RP ...

Yeah, I got lost on the way from Greenbriar to the Troll's Bane. I'm a dumbass! Will definitely give it another spin this evening though. Very impressed with how the game looks now. The character animation is gorgeous.

And about the community. It was broadly a wonderful lot to deal with, and seems to be much the same these days. Only ever got 1 death-threat for banning a player! :P

Ex-GM here, most of you young-uns won't know who the hell I am! Anyways. I broadly agree with what Aegohl's said. Really, don't feel sorry for most GMs. I am absolutely astonished and impressed with GMs like Damien and Estralis who have not reached critical mass of insanity yet. How they're not burn...

Will try and find my password. No promises though.

Map related query

Hey, look at me being a noob. The hilarity. Anyway, whenever I load up Illa, the areas of the map I've previously uncovered have vanished. Anyway to rectify this?
Thanks.

Logged onto the game for the first time in about two years today (feel like such a noob!) and then I came to the forum to see if you're still about and you up and do this. You bastard!

You rock.

I really don't think LOI will appeal to anybody who joined after 2003 anyway, LifeWonder.

I remember playing the extended demo a while back and being blown away by how massive a nostalgia trip the whole thing is. I'm still eagerly awaiting it Dyluck. And Brendan Mason better have an expanded role! :P

The GM's ALLOW us to play this game I love when this old argument is wheeled out. Don't get me wrong Quinasa, this isn't a criticism of you, just that argument. I've used that argument before, and it's either usually a tired old piece of sycophancy, or a sign of indifference. It's true that Illario...

It's very unusual for Martin or Vilarion to do something in a malicious manner, so I'm likely to believe what they have written as the truth. They're frequently the most reasonable members of staff and Martin is usually the first to admit when he's done something questionable. It's unfortunate that ...

Japheth, Hermie, Fooser, Pocal, Asesino, Aristeaus, Arameh, Retlak, Cain Freemont, returner, and bei I've probably only played once or twice this year, but intend to return, for the summer at least, after my exams. Seriously though, Gro'bul, I think there's a better way of making an attempt at disc...

Now it was said that the moderators have to see both sides. I wonder why only the moderators. I'm sorry if that was intimated by my post, but that sincerely wasn't my intention. I stated that both sides are reactionary and respond in a knee-jerk fashion. However, as the people who are appointed as ...

Discontent

I'm going to keep this topic simple and brief. Over the past day or so a lot of ludicrous behaviour has taken place on the off-topic forum. It resulted in the banning of several intelligent, witty and well liked players. And The Returner (just kidding Turny, I loves ya!). Anyway. What's left behind ...

The fallacy there is that your taking your freedom to basically say what you like on this forum as a right, and its not. I don't actually. You might remember me as the strictest moderator ever to grace the off-topic forum. I'm aware that what people say needs to be monitored, and if they cross a ce...

Some of us though, use the forums more than the game. I know that the forums are just a support for the game, but there are some people here that I honestly like a great deal, and enjoy reading their posts more than roleplaying with them. I'll probably eventually just fade away, like a bad smell, bu...

That's a fair point. I agree that a moderate approach with punishment and reward is the best way, but there currently only seems to be the more negative aspect manifesting on the board.

Double Standards

Damien has issued unwarranted, abusive private messages to me and one other former GM. Granted, it was an apparent "mistake" with me, but I still felt abused after it. My question: Is it the case that private messages do not warrant being issued with "dots," or is Damien immune from receiving them b...
