Re: Wearing items with no proper skill

I think my concerns about lizard armor on humans is best summed up with an image...

Re: Vomitting! :D

Economies in online games are always a nightmare, I have never seen one that really works and certainly never managed to implement one. On the subject of cooking, increasing the length of bonuses would almost certainly make it slightly more desirable. For the economy over all I think we need a few m...

Re: Wearing items with no proper skill

Medium armor poses the problem of having lizard armor at 60.... It looks beyond ridiculous on a human male, to the point where I think anyone would stop you and go what are you wearing!!!??? Would it not be possible or even practical to compensate for our lack of graphics by reusing the same graphic...

Re: Wearing items with no proper skill

Does it effect skill gain at all, does an armor beyond my level slow the rate at which one would gain skill?
Perhaps even more importantly if you have a skill of 60 but your wearing a level 40 armor, skill gain will still be normal? I never wish to see my character in lizard armor again? :)

Re: Please remove the new player help box.

One thing that seems a little odd about the system is that it teleports me into the tutorial, I wonder if new players should be doing the tutorial before being distracted with potential RP? If it was triggered when a player "picked" a town and a message appeared a new face has come to Galmair? It fe...

Re: The Iron Watch of Galmair

Commander, I have also concocted a plan which I feel may ease our victory against these pirates. Whether we use it or not, it is true we as a town must come together to meet and defeat this threat, it is embarrassing that we are put to shame by a bunch of drunkards in funny hats. I'll seek you out. ...

Potential Chancellors....

*A neatly penned note is hung from the town board* With the elections looming large and a few great candidates already having stepped forward, I thought I might take the liberty of posting a few questions. I could of course track each candidate down individually, however this would only serve to enl...

Re: Really struggling to raise armor skill...

Sorry idle was a really bad choice of words, if you stand around typing as such rping, that should lower the MC-points.
Thanks for the information.

Messing around a little I was able to gain a little, which is all I needed to see. This can be locked, moved, deleted, all is well in the world :)

Re: Really struggling to raise armor skill...

Thanks for you input....:) I do not think MC-points are the issue, I idle/rp a lot but its true I may have had days where I used my MC points by mining or smelting. In theory a slime should still potentially cause skill gain then as I only have 25 medium armor, so if they have uh unarmed of even 10,...

Really struggling to raise armor skill...

I know this is a "tricky" topic as there are so many variables, but since I have returned I have managed to gain one point in medium armor, thats from 24 - 25. That last gain was also pretty random and over a week ago. I would imagine that at low levels it should be relatively easy to get? lately I ...

The decemberists - the drowned (from the album hazards of love) beautiful song which really should be listened too in its proper sequence right at the end of an amazing album that tells a fable. As a stand alone its still a pretty moving song though

Re: Whose RP did you like today?

To long to list everyone but a few have left a lasting impression of late. Ufedhin: You have some awesome moments, you bring a depth into things that I adore. Signs before Mas, the creeping dread of growing undead. Always a pleasure to encounter you. Irania: Lots of fun to see how your character has...

Re: General Roleplay Advice Thread

Just a few tips from my years of rping here and there, its not really aimed at this community or anyone in it. I do not think I have been around long enough for any real issues to raise their head, or I am just lucky and keep running into great players. Some of these are so simple or generic that mo...

Re: Magic system thoughts...

Also never confuse making something really hard with making it exclusive or encouraging great RP. That usually just means the player with the most time or most desire to PG, they may or may not be the most talented role player. Difficulty is no assurance of quality or exclusivity in an RP community,...

Re: Poll about Grimmwold players / Umfrage zu Grimmwold-Spie

I personally would have offered them 50%, as Grim players would have been a great match for Illarion, similar role play ethos and similar world styling. It was an opportunity to encourage a strong role playing community to perhaps bring some of their talent to Illa, instead of just moving onto diffe...

Re: Magic system thoughts...

I think I failed to communicate myself entirely properly. Clearly we want to escape "you can only learn from a teacher route" so we are left with teaching or expensive/quests as a way to get runes. The teaching system I mentioned was more about skills, even if runes became 100 quest/cost based if we...

Re: Magic system thoughts...

Totally :) I completely agree with what your ideas, it was also why I did not go into detail of spell ideas. I am aware I am basically an Illa newb these days. I just know from other games I have been involved in what we would do well to avoid. It is of course easier to say than do, which is why so ...

Magic system thoughts...

I love the idea of the poll and I did not want to derail that topic by begging a discussion in it. However Illarion has a unique opportunity to create a great, balanced magic system and no players really need suffer as now if a mage hates magic they could stat change out to being a crafter or warrio...

Re: The Hemp Necktie Inn roleplay

A neutral space in a game is always a great idea. If we imagine that borgate had a group of bouncers or a hired assassin or what ever the reason, it basically means that drawing blood in his tavern ends badly for you. The outcome of a neutral space is that it can bring enemies together to RP in a di...

Mac users, extreme client slow down?

So one of the main points that is bugging me about the game is that after a time which could be 10 minutes up until 30 minutes the client will start progressively slowing down until even typing lags. Mid 2012 imac 4 gig ram etc So I doubt its the power of the machine that is to blame. I also appreci...

Re: VBU and mage chars

I do not often claim to know much about this game anymore, I am old relic that just pops in for some RP now and then. I do however clearly recall that the way the previous magic system was introduced is what finally motivated my quitting entirely. So a few lessons I hope the game will take from prev...

Re: Becoming Evil

The biggest problem with this topic is one word, the word being evil. Outside of psychopaths and demon possessed end game bosses, neither of which make very good character concepts. Most people do not believe themselves evil, they have a hosts of beliefs but they ultimately believe they are justifie...

Re: Alleskönner/Allrounders

I'll be the first to admit that I know very little about Illarion these days, I have however had multiple experiences with similar games both as a player, designer and GM over the years. So a lot of this post is more generalized and not aimed specifically at Illarion. It us unlikely though that this...

Thanks for your time responding Athian.

Without trying to turn this into a discussion forum, I'll just add that as a returning player the new system sounds great and seems to allow for a lot more build variety. I am actually rather impressed by it.
Thanks again

Re: Tactics and Dodge

Tactics is influenced by int, I like it.

Does that mean that a low int character will cap at a lower level, or that a low intelligence character simply cannot use tactics as much?

Thanks for the information it all makes a lot more sense now.
